I think what hurts so much about it for me is that Stolas is unknowingly doing _exactly_ what Blitzø does: he's preemptively expecting rejection, so it's not as painful when it happens.

Other time I’ve seen something like this was in Lion King on Broadway. Mufasa takes off his crown while talking to Simba, to speak to him as his papa and not as his king.

At the same time he doesn't turn because that would show Blitzo his vulnerability. Sadly that's why he also doesn't see the tears. Or how Blitzos face changes when he sees Stolas tears and realize that he went too far. And that Stolas was kind and sincere the whole time even though it must have taken Stolas so much courage and strengh to do so 🥲

Also when at the Ozzie's restaurante episode, Stolas says good bye to Blitz by bowing, when his father clearly told him that Blitz is the one who must bow cause he's from a lower class,it was a sign of fully respect and that stolas doesn't seen him as a lower class demon but as an equal 😢

That part, that scene looked so similar to me. In Good Omens, Crowley also takes off his glasses when he shows Aziraphale his vulnerability and sincere emotions.

I think Blitz is used to being met with confrontation/anger when someone cuts him from his life, Verosika, Fizz, Barbie Wire, they all matched his aggression whenever they were in his vicinity. ​@@valentinkambushev4968When Blitz asked him to go to Ozzie's. He tried to talk to Blitz then, and was ignored. When Blitz drove him home, Stolas tried to invite him in to talk, or watch a film. That they didn't just have to have sex. If you look at the texts on Stolas' phone when he was in hospital, he was trying to mend things. He was checking in on his wellbeing etc etc. Remember, Blitz was the one that first started them fooling around together. When Stolas finally met Blitz again, he was only jokingly flirting, because once Blitz started trying to get him to have sex Stolas got all shy and kept backing off initially.

Stolas' interpretation of Blitz's behavior is also soured by his own self doubts in everything he does. His immediate thought is that Blitz is throwing his feelings back at him, and only sees him as a perverted royal that wants sex, because that's what the outward portrayal is. When we, as the audience, can understand that it's really that he thinks the world of Stolas. However he thinks very lowly of himself, that he'd be unworthy of love, especially from this figure of immeasurable power and importance relative to himself. If Blitz believes himself unlovable, he'll sabotage his chances because believing Stolas to be genuine about such feelings would, in his mind, be setting himself up for more heartbreak as he is played with.

Woahhh, I love that perspective. I was just thinking about how it completed his line from the beginning, when Stolas sings "I'll believe him and not the voice that says I'm not enough." And he did listen to Blitzø, but thought that Blitzø was saying the same thing as that voice.

Thing is, even though stolas tries to not be like the other royals he does subconsciously treat the imps as lesser. Remember when Octavia ran away while stolas was dealing with stellas stuff? He was walking around with an imp in his hand while he talked on the phone and he squeezed him out of frustration when stella was getting to be too much. It's a learned behavior he grew up being taught and despite the fact that he does see blitz as someone on equal footing as him he still does talk to him in a very condescending way, a way he doesnt even realize he's doing but blitz can hear it and understands it as stolas seeing him as nothing more than just another imp.

And he clearly didn't consider that every word he told was hitting right into the most painful spot for Stolas. The worst part? Stolas will believe in every word he said. We know it because that's what he told himself during the bath. Why our boys can't just talk without yelling and talking over each other? 🥲 Sorry for any grammar mistake. To be fair, remember Stolas was kinda freaking out because he was out of his medication. I guarantee if he had his dose for the day, it would've gone a lot better since he would've had more patience to give Blitz some time to think instead of immediately assuming it's rejection

But if you think about it. Stolas is a hypocrite since the whole thing between them both is a deal not a relationship.

Also the way that Blitz was "communicating" was yelling. Escalating up to following Stolas through the halls shouting, screaming and hurling insults. ....Just like Stella. Remember that Blitz isn't the only one with trauma, here. If you watch Stolas at the end, he doesn't stop to *listen*, really, he pulls up sharp and *freezes* when Blitz starts screaming. And he *flinches* when Blitz curses at him, which we've never seen him do before. He was in trauma response mode, and what broke his heart is that it's *Blitz* that put him there by treating him the *same way Stella used to*.

I love Stolas, but he DOES have the issues Blitz stated in his speech. Blitz was harsh, but he said the truth. I really hope "Apology tour" goes both ways, not only Blitz apologising.

Blitz is also in the wrong. He can’t seem to want to listen either. Don’t act like Blitz is completely innocent in the transaction. He stole from Stolas and then disappeared for about 25 years and resurfaced to seduce Stolas to steal his book.

And when he tries to, earnestly tries to, openly says he wants to know what Blitz thinks, wants him to stay only if he wants to stay, Blitz thinks it's a joke and from the first assumption Stolas makes up his mind on how Blitz feels. He doesn't listen anymore fully, doesn't allow him to fully take in that he's serious. Just walks away leaving Blitz hurt and angry as he chases after him. We know this hurt Blitz too since he literally says that "All you royals play with our feelings than toss us away". Saying that he feels like he's been played with, being played with and when Stolas doesn't immediately get the response he wants he throws him away like a toy. When given a option to stay or go he doesn't take it seriously because he doesn't believe that a royal is possible of doing that for an imp like him. Not to mention Blitz's first response to the gem was if he could do better, the fear of him being boring to Stolas takes over and he's desperate to continue to have the connection. He doesn't know who to properly express how he feels. I love Blitz, he's such a good example of self destruction and self deprecation. He doesn't believe he's good enough to deserve actual love and care from others, and with his self destruction fueled by his disbelief in being cared about it's not hard to see why he thinks that when he consistently pushes people away. He's hurt, been so hurt and by his own actions none the less! He doesn't want them to stay, want them to have actual feelings for him, because he'll push them away. He won't believe them even if they say it straight up to his face. As shown with this, it's a horrible mix of some thing fueling the other. So when someone as sincere as Stolas comes along, and wants him for more than just the deal, he doesn't believe it. He's 'fine' with the deal they have going. He went through so much trouble to make sure Stolas wasn't bored. It was with the guise of the book but even AFTER- He wanted to continue with the night. Even after he was given the crystal, and no longer needed Stolas for his book, he wanted to continue with the night. Because that's all he's known for this relationship. That's what he sees reliable for it. That's the only way he knows how to truly convey how he feels for this, because he's afraid of change of getting hurt. You can see in his face he does care, wants to stay with Stolas, because he loves him. But he can't fathom the fact that Stolas wants him for more than just sex. He's such a good character and so complex, and this episode just highlights it. I love him dude, even with his flaws. But I also love Stolas with all his flaws, he's earnestly trying. Failing yes, but trying none the less which is more than literally anybody does in this show, I mean besides Fizz (Love Fizz) from what we know at least. Also he wasn't on his antidepressant pills and he states at the start that he's trying not to dwell on the divorce. Yet the yelling and "The Reason you Suck" speech, all reminds him of Stella. Which probably hurts more honestly. They are so complex and I just wanna grab them and go RAHHFOQEGIUOPWERIUO- You know?

To be fair it wasn't completely out of nowhere. We saw the messages exchanged between them. Stolas clearly tries to show that he cares and doesn't want to force Blitz to sleep with him because of the deal. But I agree. Stolas has problem with listening. He was so focused on what he wanted to say that he didn't wait to hear Blitz out. In his defense it's not done maliciously and as you said it most likely comes from his upbringing. Also he ran out of happy pills. He clearly wasn't in a state of mind necessary for this conversation. Blitz wasn't either. Unfortunately Blitz angrily asked for a minute to think only to immiedlately fall back into his toxic routine of pushing others away. And he choose to yell at Stolas about how all royalty is shitty and seems imps as lower and unimportant. To Stolas who is a royalty and who knows how horrible they can be first hand. Hell he was married to one of the nasties of them all! And Blitz unintentionaly put him at the same level as her. This confrontation was doomed to fail from the start. Are you kidding me? Stolas literally put his life on the line for Blitz. He risked his marriage, his job and his status. Stolas tried several times to get Blitz to realise he wanted more. He literally gave him SO MANY OPPORTUNITIES to be with him. When he ended up in the hospital Blitz ghosted the shit out of him. As soon as Stolas told Blitz their encounters were optional Blitz never showed up again, UP UNTIL WHEN THE POSSESSION OF THE GRIMOIRE WAS ON THE LINE. The fact that Stolas even had ANY hope for Blitz to actually think of him as more is MIND BOGGLING. Anyone in their right mind would've given up on blitz ages ago. Blitz has to be so lost to not realise that not a single demon of Stolas's hierarchy would ever give a shit if the deal was fair or not. Stolas could literally own him as property if he wanted, why would he bother giving him the Grimoire if he didn't genuinely care about him? Why would he give him the Asmodeus gem if he didn't care? Then despite that, Blitz pulls this narrative out of his ass, as if Stolas was replacing him, and starts attacking him for no reason. If someone starts screaming at me like that for no reason ain't giving them a chance either, Stolas is a victim of abuse from his own wife, who screams at him 24/7, of course he immediatly shut down in that situation. That Blitz redemption arc CANNOT COME SOON ENOUGH. Blitz always saw Stolas as a means to an end. He only cared about getting the book at the end of the day. And all of a sudden, he's saying that Stolas sees him as a replaceable object???? Bitch that's literally how you see Stolas, not the other way around. It was Stolas who proposed the deal but it was Blitz who put it on a sexual level. In fact, I want to recall that it was Blitz who first seduced Stolas to steal the book. They had just met again after years, barely knew each other, and Blitz jumped between Stolas' legs as soon as he saw an opportunity to distract him, making him think he was there for him. I honestly can't blame Stolas for thinking that a transitional relationship based on sex was what Blitz wanted because of the way he was seduced. Stolas probably thinks he can get Blitz's attention with sex alone. Also, I am so fucking proud of Stolas. He did phenomenal even if he accepted the rejection a little too quickly- the point is this NEEDED to happen. The ball HAD to fall in Blitzø’s court & I am ecstatic that it has. Blitzø has to face his feelings. It’s his turn to confess. I'm honestly not what people want from Stolas anymore. He admitted that the arrangement is unfair, his communication has improved so much, he is doing his best to resolve this complicated situation. Both of their reactions were right and valid, obviously both of them could do better but I don't know why for some people it is always Stolas' fault. He is also a deeply traumatized person with his own issues just like Blitz, but people always expect Stolas to be the perfect, rational one, it's not fair. I'm just. really hoping. that if Stolas DOES have a small period of time where he is angry and perhaps even a bit mean to Blitz, that people extend to him at least a tiny smidge of the grace that they're willing to extend to Blitz. that is all i ask. Is it really so hard to fathom why stolas would need to get away from someone who's angrily kicking doors and yelling at the top of their lungs? possibly reminding him of someone he lived with for 17 years who did the exact same thing constantly????? Blitz is not the only one who hates himself. Stella stated that he loves tormenting Stolas; she humiliated him in front of the entire Ars Goetia, calling him pathetic and ugly and bragging about how she had to do everything in bed. Literally Stolas in the duet says he is not good enough for Blitz. So we excuse Blitz for his actions because he thinks he does not deserve love but we blame Stolas for the same reason? Let's stop making their relationship a competition about who is the “real bad guy” here. I think it’s clear though that BOTH Stolas and Blitz have made mistakes in this relationship.

Yeah its a complicated mix of how they view themselves and whatnot. Blitzo lashes out as his defence mechanism but then Stolas' defence mechanism to that defence mechanism is by escaping! I actually quite love how Stolas was shown to be the one to shut down the scene in this ep, I really hope the show focuses on these flaws of his a bit more! I feel like Blitzo is the fire, and Stolas is the one fanning the flames unintentionally. Overall, though i view both of them to be the issue of course, i believe Blitzo is more in the wrong due how much more damage his actions do, despite Stolas' lack of communicating somewhat causing many of the issues in the first place. Its such a complicated dynamic haha i cn't wait to see how things will get better!
