@@mattn676 The place that I have seen Katelyn at home is behind the wheel of a buggy, the more challenging the better. As far as working in the shop, it's the not knowing what or how to do that is intimidating for her, therefore the most uncomfortable. If you pay attention to her when they are out on a recovery is when she is most secure. Find the one where the tracks came off of the Bombi when her, Kaulin, and a young man recording, she even takes the lead. Katelyn isn't secure when she doesn't know what to do. When Katelyn knows she is a driving force, pressing on to get it done.

The design of the bombi with the drive gear (diff) in the front puts a lot of strain on the rear axel when moving forward, adding rear brake multiplies it. Im sure that wasn't an issue when it had a 100hp, but it appears to be now. Your strengthing improvements look solid. Not that it matters what I think and you certainly dont need my thunbs up. But you have it anyways. 😆

@ Matt: Normally the drive is at the back so that the track is pulled taut at the bottom. This causes much less stress on the track and will then fall off less quickly. You can then mount the drive shaft normally and not upside down. You can do this with a V drive. It's just a tip from Holland.

63 years young next month! And I'm still getting the marbles out of my empty paint cans. I just got done emptying a few cans of flat desert tan out on my 94 XJ. I was just showing my 6 year old granddaughter, the other day. It's my SHTF slingshot ammo! It's usually a clear glass marble, but some have a smaller diameter metal ball. I don't puncture the can though. I release most all pressure through the nozzle and crease the can, so I can fold it back and forth until the can is in two pieces and the marble rolls out on its own. (that's the sketchy part) That busted paint can is extremely Sharp, so I got to make sure the 6 year old doesn't get ahold of what's left of it!

I used to build stuff like this. Then it comes time to replace worn out stuff and you're at the parts shop trying to remember what the part came out of. Completely replacing my Chevotas clutch was like...so the clutch plate was for a Toyota Dyna Truck, the pressure plate is a 3 finger Dodge truck one, and the thrust race is a Landcruiser...the master cylinder is a 73 Toyota and the slave is a 74...the parts guys eyes glaze over and he starts drooling from the side of his mouth....

You can really appreciate the Axle table that Paul made at Fab Rats when you see them disassembling this axle and it keeps Teeter-Tottering. The big eyes and pausing to make sure it's not going to fall is funny because we've all been there. It might be time to modify their table to accept some axle forks.

Khaulin, get a piece of 3 inch pvc pipe and a cap. Then drill a hole about the center of that cap and put a 3/8-5/16 bolt about an inch and a half long and tighten it. stuff the pipe in the cap, Grab a piece of foam and a drill. Put the can in the pvc and use the foam to pad it off center. Chuck it up and spin that can of paint. You'll need to support the pvc with your other hand.

Matt used to use the word “Kludging”, but seems to have quit. I guess nobody reads John Ringo. It’s from his “Through the Looking Glass” series, Great Science Fiction, but I’ve always suspected the word is actually Scandinavian in origin, and Matt picked it up from his Grandpa. Yes, I know the Google cites the Oxford Dictionary as identifying the word as having been in use since at least the early 1800s, but that is an ENGLISH dictionary, first and foremost, and almost ALL of English comes from other languages, and many of the Kings before Uther Pendragon were Scandinavian before the Angles and Saxons arrived.

Never forget Surge Swag and heave (it is embedded in my psyche) - That would be the dynamic description of linear motion in the 3 Primary Axes (Matching Roll Pitch and Yaw - for corresponding angular motions).. Love it when Tom just walks in... (I hope Progressive comments are entertaining to somebody over there..) - What's up Guys... I reckon - that riigid axle housing needs some caging (or some rubber blocks) as well as that beautifully renovated hub.. The forces it sees under stupid conditions may be hard to guestimate properly..
