I love how real you are in your videos. Your honesty is so relatable. So many youtubers play perfect and that doesn't help me at all. When you're honest about falling behind or being overwhelmed it reminds me that I'm not alone with these situations and emotions and that it is possible to get back on track. I am so thankful for you and your channel, you are such an inspiration ❤

Gatekeeping the home is so important. Clutter attracts clutter. I bet our ancestors would be baffled to hear that the process of removing excess items from the home is a constant battle in modern times.

Thank-you so much for this. I really needed to know it's not just me. I just started a new job that has been so badly I'm about to hand in my resignation. I needed overtime to keep up at first, all while getting ready to haul my art to an art fair and lose money on the high-effort event. And then we found a stray kitten, so we now have 4 cats and one is a baby. Housekeeping went out every window and the whole house, plus the bookkeeping are big bird nests.

I go grocery shopping once a week. Luckily, I have a Goodwill in the same parking lot as my grocery store. I take donations, if I have them, every single week. It's been awesome! Wonderful video! Thank you, Valerie ❤

This would be amazing! My donation box is aka giant pile in my basement. The only place I have is 40 mins from me and I do not go there but 2x a month maybe. Its currently out of control and I need to gather it all of and take it there this week. 😅

Ugh. The birdsnest. Know it too well, along with the snag in the weeds, got too close to where we shouldn’t be. Thank you once again for real life encouragement. Amen - gatekeeping!! 💪. You’ve encouraged me in more ways you could know. 🙏 Thank you!

Thanks Marybeth. I agree with having a donation box at the ready. I have a spot in the garage for one and a bag in the closet to make it fall down easy to collect donations. Took 2 boxes and a bag of books to the thrift store yesterday. Always so happy to get more unnecessary things out of the house and have more space, order, and peace! Keep chipping away at it, and keep the great videos and Godly encouragement coming, please! Hugs from Canada.🙂

Hi Mary Beth, I have been using the donation bin theory for years. I have a mesh hamper, one of those spiral ones that collapses, or takes the form of what I put in it. I keep it in the linen closet. Kids clothes that are outgrown, shoes, toys, closet and kitchen declutter goes in it. It is tall enough to last a while. When I have an errand to do in that area, I pack everything in a garbage bag, put it in the car trunk and go. It it is full before errands, it just gets into the trunk anyway. Kids are grown now so everything in it is what I put there. Then I reward myself with a stop at McDonalds. Yeah…win win.

I relate. Every week I need a refresh and some rest. I usually do it Monday. I try to just focus on the laundry and no brainers (trash and giveaways). You know those things that don’t require lots of brain power (decision making) like you mentioned, I try to just do the things I can do on auto pilot. My home feels better and my mind gets to rest from decisions. After a vacation or whatever may have kept me from home or my regular home care duties I need these days to refresh, at least that is what I call them. I usually allow myself a nap somewhere in the midst of that day especially if I am not able to get a little extra sleep that morning, which is usually the case. Thank you for your videos of encouragement

Amen I will keep decluttering till I can focus more on Jesus, bible study, eternal things. I am not there but feel the urgency. My health is struggling right now and needs attention, another excellent reason to simplify everything. That is part of my health stewardship as lower inventory greatly helps all areas. Less distraction, less tasks. As soon as I drop off decluttered donations I instantly feel less burden. With less stuff I read the bible more, walk more, improve the house more, bless husband more, all the things.

I have an overflowing donation bin too. My husband wants me to catalogue everything we donate before it goes and that is the part that causes the hang up for me. Hopefully, I will feel more motivated this afternoon after work today.

Gather the donation items in a bin, and give the bin to your husband. Tell him he has x days to catalog the items before you take them away.

That's so hard! But I agree with Mary. Make the pile available for him to catalog by the end of the week and then make that run out of there!

I have been decluttering for a year now and couldn't figure out why I feel that we still had to much stuff. Today I went into my husband's office to find the electric tape and found somethings that I know that I had gotten rid of. He dug that stuff out of the trash. WHY? WE DON'T NEED TO AD TO THE PROBLEM. HELP.
