I suspect nobody will read this, but I like how the parody of weird continental European tv-shows is actually what some British shows look like to us on the continent.

That southern accent was reminiscent of Jude Law's performance, in 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil' :)

Robert saying "dress" at 7:23 had me gasping for breath due to laughing so hard! Probably the best delivery of that word ever in the history of mankind.

as a southerner I just gotta say, when Webb did that accent, well tried lol, I laughed my ass off. even American actors fuck that up from time to time
@andrew_owens76803 жыл бұрын
As another southerner, there isn't a "Southern" accent. There are Georgia accents, Texas accents, Louisiana accents, North Carolina accents, etc. Hollywood does even worse with the Arab world, where they have characters from the Gulf speaking in Moroccan dialect which most Arab speakers wouldn't even understand. Probably every Arab speaking country on earth has been shot in Morocco. Look it up.

@@andrew_owens7680 True, but Hollywood tries to only do an old south Georgia accent for the most part. They're still living in the Gone With the Wind days. I'm always pissed off by how bad the fake "southern" accents are. Nothing is better than casting people from those actual areas. It brings so much more to the scene, far more than just the way words are pronounced. IMO directors are fools to let actors, famous or not, attempt accents like that when they have to sell it so well or else the scene's unravel. They hire Brits to do southern accents! Some Brits are damn good, but not that good. I had no idea about the Moroccan stuff. Right now I'm watching a couple shows that are supposed to take place in Colorado and Montana but are filmed in Canada. They're filming more and more stuff in Canada and Georgia these days. They seem to fake locations pretty well, but now with the virus it's even harder to fake anything. Yep, it's a 9 year old post I don't even remember writing and I am still alive!

you think rob webb might really be stumped by american accents? he did a pretty good one in "speedo" but he used the word "shag," which americans never use, and here they're both playing southern american racists from croydon.

Iv'e never heard of a British program running in seasons!. Season is the American term. "It CAN be either", but 99% of the time it's series when referring to programs made and broadcast in the UK.
@user-bc9mn7gq2c Жыл бұрын
Like the "Southern sketch" but what's so hard about a US Southern accent? Just add a sing-song drawl to everything, broaden the ah sounds, turn the long i into a diphthong, add a trace of w to ou when in the middle of a word and basically keep the British soft r. At least you'd be pretty close and we in the US would at worse maybe think you were from Missouri.
@wattage2007 Жыл бұрын
I'm guessing the game show sketches, overly long-winded and not quite as funny as the other sketches are Robert Webb's creations?
