That Notorious Audax Baler is one of the toughest 200km rides on the Audax calendar. There were 36% of the participants that Did Not Finish. It has brutal climbs, technical descents and never ending flats. Then you turn around at the Checkpoint to do it all over again, in reverse. BUT it is also one of the most scenic coastal routes for an Audax 200, with views that are hard to match! With team work, determination, and a truckload of patience it can still be an awesome experience! Click the link, and come join the ride!

I don't see how you do it John John you have once again put me to shame lol. I had no idea your country had so many pretty things to see and do. You are making me want to built a road bicycle for sure with 700c. The bicycle I built that I have now is the Surly Disc Trucker it;s a touring bicycle and I put on mountain bike drive train on it. Crank set in 40,30,22 and the rear cassette is a 11-34 you can go up any hill with a heavy load I have had over 80 pounds of food on this bike and went up very steep hills with no problem at all. I'm trying to find a Shimano 105 set for 9 speed but am having trouble find these now I had a set back in 2014 but now days most of the 9 speed stuff in gone.

great ride sir John, I've been dreaming of riding an Audax in the Philippines... hopefully in my next visit I'll finally bring a bike. What I don't like most is riding in 40'C weather, it's mid-summer here in central California & that's normal weather here (albeit dry heat). You should make a vlog about the top5 coolest places/areas to ride there, based on your experiences :-)

Thank you for the encouragement! I’m glad you enjoyed the ride. And yes, it can get scorching hot here in a humid way too. The only was to escape that is to ride at higher altitude, and the price to pay for that is more climbing to be done, haha! Cheers!
