I wonder what the Earl of Sandwich would have to say? For it is he who caused this miracle in snacks to be produced. He was an avid gambler. So much so that instead of stopping his gamble for food, he had his servants bring him a steak between two pieces of bread. This proved to be so popular that it's fame was spread far and wide and the commoners did say to one another: "Oi you, I want a Sandwich!"

your southern roots are showing my friend. nobody pronounces like that in my neck of the woods. What about Aunt? When I was a kid if I used the pronunciation as "ant" - like I heard kids in my school use - she'd have a fit and I'd have to stand in the corner and contemplate my evil ways. my other aunts weren't quite as strident about it, but Aunt Norma put the fear of God into us so no ants for us!
