What happened to country music? They all sound alike and like pop singers. No character. Thank God for those like Merle, George, Willie, Johnny and all the others.

I noticed something when I was listening to this song. We are dying out. Those of us who really know this music, we are going out. Sad, but we have something no one else will truly have. Real good music.

Reminds me of my childhood. I know every generation probably thinks this, but I feel like I grew up in the best time...Life was still pretty innocent and sweet. I miss those days.

Lived in kern county since 1974, worked in the oil patch and where Merle started his career in Oildale. California. Saw him perform at the Fox theater long ago. Have been a fan forever. This song is me and my wife's song been married this year 50 years. He is the working mans and drinking man's hero. Drank many a night listening to Merle. What a man, read his books you'll never be sorry and so happy you read such a wonderful man's life.
