Yamaha Tracer 7 is one of the iconic middleweight sport tourers in Europe. It competes with popular motorcycles from Triumph, Honda, and Kawasaki. Back in 2023, Yamaha released a facelift version of this motorcycle and upgraded some of the elements. But does this make it a perfect motorcycle? Let's find out in this video.

Got my first bike 2017. Was an old Honda NTV 650 and had it for a year. Dropped it three times and crashed almost several times. After that I upgraded to a Tracer 700 in 2018. Was a great choice. That Tracer 700 is still with me. With that Tracer I really learned how to ride a bike in corners. Foot pegs are almost scraped off. Rode from northern Germany to Austria in about 10 hours and made over 1000km in that time. My ass wasn't sore, my legs were fine and wind protection was good. I had the Yamaha Touring screen though. Compared to the Tracer 900 I had, the wind protection sucked on the 900, legs were more cramped and I didn't like the bike at all. Sold the 900 and bought another bike with CP2 engine. The Tenere 700. Now I have Tracer and Tenere and I'm more than happy. Haven't had any problems with the ABS and braking at all. I can do stoppies with my Tracer no problem. Brakes are gripping like crazy after I upgraded to steel braided brake lines. Suspension was too soft for my taste so I upgraded to Öhlins cartridge kit in front and bought a Wilbers shock absorber for the rear. The upgraded brake lines, the Öhlins cartridge kit and the rear shock are the best upgrades for the Tracer 700. You don't need anything else. Maybe upgrade to Conti Road Attack 4 tyres. For me the best on road tyres ever. The Tracer is under 200kg fully fueled has a short wheel base and is nimble as fuck. Touring version of the Mt-07. I don't see a reason why this shouldn't be a beginner bike. Maybe don't buy a brand new one as your first bike because eventually all new riders will drop their bikes and it will decrease its value. So buy a used bike as your first one! ABS can save your ass when the road is slippery. Don't see a reason why the brakes on the Tracer will be bad for beginners. I never had trouble with the brakes on my Tracer. The only thing I noticed when I start with a cold engine and slightly brake for the first time the ABS module goes crazy and makes sounds like a dying cat but is working just fine. Read about customers complained about it but was never a reason for me to take it to the dealership for warranty. I would advise everyone not to watch videos on YT but if possible ride the bike you want to buy yourself and not getting distracted by minute details nobody cares about. A lot of stuff talked about are just opinions and opinions are like a.....

Great feedback, thanks! You are right, everything is personal. That’s why I am sharing both good and bad things, but it doesn’t matter what is bad for me, would be bad for someone else. I personally like the bike, and have fun on it every time I rede it. You can watch my previous videos where I shared that. Thanks and Cheers!

As soon as you mentioned ABS intrusion in a wrong way, I knew you talk sincere and that you know what you say. On my MT07, it's the same to the point that I was shocked that the bike refused to brake while I was going very slowly and the car did emergency breaking in front of me to let pedestrian pass the road. I am looking to switch my MT for Tracer 7 GT because of added comfort and weather protection.

ABS on this motorcycle is my biggest disappointment as that is safety related issue I'd say

Great video Sergey, you really gone into the details of the bike, very interesting regarding the abs situation, i wouldn't think Yamaha is that bad with the breaks, but i haven't tried any of the 700 platform.

Thanks Alin. Yeah, I am surprised as well. But I want to get to the bottom of it. I don’t believe that Yamaha would do a bad job on brakes. Maybe it is just a setup question. Who knows.

I‘ve seen many Tracer 7 review videos and they all mention the same points. Your review on the other hand really highlights some new points like the lack of traction control. I‘ve been riding a Honda CB650R for two years but it’s not comfortable on longer rides which I now do regularly. I will get my new Tracer 7 GT in a few weeks. I hope I won’t be disappointed!

Hi Sergey, I'll probably upset a lot of Tracer 7 owners but I agree with your comments that the bike lacks alot of modern day rider aids for the price they are asking ! In Australia the Tracer 7 retails for $15,999 ! For an expensive bike that is marketed as a sports tourer it should come standard with cruise control, quick shifter, traction control and cornering abs ! It looks great, but fails to deliver! 😢

It is what it is, right? You trade reliability for modern tech.

Nice video, but I do not agree with all of your comments. The plastic handguards are functioning very good. They kept my hands out of the wind during the wintermonths. Also I am not dropping my bike that often as you seem to do. I only dropped a bike in my 3rd year of the 37 years I am driving.. So if the price for a replacement for the handguard is not too high it is oke. I also did not mount a crashguard, because I never crashed a bike in all these years. The standard screen is rubish. It creates tooo much buffeting and I replaced it with a Puig touring screen for 100 euro. That solved the buffeting problem. The seat is much better then on the model before 2023. It is nearly as good as the comfort saddle from the older model. Soo no need to buy the gt model for that. Also in the small sidecases you can not fit a helmet, so in my opinion they are useless. Vibrations are not disturbing me. Not as much as they did on my FJR1300. These vibrations were a lot more disturbing. Not on the tracer though.. As you are not driving like a maniac, then the tracer is a perfect beginner bike. Also the fuelconsumption is very low. I use 1l on 24 km average. Sometimes even less. After all the bikes I have been riding I must say, the tracer 7 is the best. Even better then the tracer 9. 😁☝ kzfaq.info/get/bejne/obNzps1mlay8dqM.html

Hi, thanks for the feedback. Please note, this video also targeting people with very little experience. I am not dropping bike often actually, but on our tours I can see people do it all the time. Sometimes because they are not familiar with the bike, sometimes because they are tired after the riding day, so that is the common situation. And that it is reason I mentioned that. I am actually like performance of the handguards, but my comment is related to fragility of that element. As per everything else, I mentioned that most things are personal and might not bother most people. Thanks for watching!

I rented one for a week and it wanted to stand up in corners. It had less than 1,500 miles on it. After that, I didn't want to buy one.

What does it mean "stand up in the corners"? I have ordered one after a 3-hour test ride and it was performing very well in the corners.
@chasoney
@chasoney 5 күн бұрын
@@szymonchalupka If you've never rode a bike that resisted leaning into a curve where you have to overcompensate for the handling characteristics, then i hope you never do. In this bikes case, the dealer over aired the tires. When I set the cold tire air pressure to factory specs, the characteristic raised its ugly head. A motorcycle may stand up in corners for a number of reasons, including: Aggressive throttle An aggressive initial throttle can cause the bike to rock back on its rear tire, which can change the steering geometry and make the bike stand up. Center of gravity If the center of gravity is too high, too far forward, or too far back, it can make the bike unstable and cause it to pull to one side. Tire conditions The inflation pressure, tread depth, block profile, and wear conditions of the tires can all affect riding stability. Other reason: tire type and brand, crankshaft enertia, frame and swing arm issues, cheap suspension parts, ... I can't say why this particular bike did it, but I wasn't going to take a chance with it either. Enjoy your rides!!
