Madden always knew how to deliver a gem: “If this team doesn’t put points on the board I don’t see how they can win.” “Usually the team that scores the most points wins the game.” “They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.” “The best way to gain more yards is advance the ball down the field from the line of scrimmage.” “Hey, the offensive linemen are the biggest guys on the field, they’re bigger than everybody else, and that’s what makes them the biggest guys on the field.” “If the quaterback throws the ball in the endzone and the Wide Receiver catches it……. It’s a touchdown.”

@Levi Ackerman your using most people not knowing a confusing and old form of writing that isn’t applicable in the workplace in an argument about how dominant LT is when most of that information is freely available and most people who actually watch football, especially this generation and last regard him as top 3 all time.
@tylerl4320
@tylerl4320 3 жыл бұрын
@Levi Ackerman In what world does cursive correlate with basic comprehension and grammar of the human language? Cursive is simply a way to write English, and objectively a more confusing one, especially for immigrants who are learning English. Most people don’t even write in cursive outside of memorizing their signature. Also using emojis doesn’t make your point right.
@tylerl4320
@tylerl4320 3 жыл бұрын
@Levi Ackerman not to mention, look at what your typing on. Does it have cursive letters? No. It has normal letters because it’s easier to read and less messy. Not to mention if we’re going back to the handwritten argument it’s far more messy for people with bad handwriting because all of the letters are conjoined.

Went to over 100 games, at the old Giants Stadium. Even when they were horrible, they were still the greatest. And to get to watch LT, go through his career, is a high point in my life. I miss my old Giants, all the time. And only once, I was able to get LT's attention as the guys were walking back into the tunnel after brutalizing Seattle. I screamed, "YOU'RE THE FUCKING GREATEST, LAWRENCE!!!!" and he looked right me, with a smile and pointed a #1 finger at me. I'll never ever forget it. Beasley Reece was right next to him and he winked at me and gave me a thumbs up. Can't get any better than that, when you're 15 years old.

Great game by Taylor.....as a Steeler fan, I can count on one hand and think of only two games I've watched in the past 20 years or so that a defensive player won the game for them.....one was Rod Woodson....as I can't remember who they played, but he had an unbelievable game in which he made the impact for them to win the game....might have been Baltimore........the other game is a little more known by many with is James Harrison had an insane game on Monday night football and I believe that was also against Baltimore.....anyway, LT always made an impact when he was on the field....

LT was one of the greatest defensive players of all time... Make no mistake, the NFL is by and large a corrupt organization. Most large corporations are. And when the fix is in, there is almost nothing a player or a team on the field can do. But LT did it. He was never one of the NFL's poster children and never had the refs on his side, but he cut a bloody path through offenses for over a decade. Which was one Hell of a career given how nasty hits were back then. And LT told the truth: about doping, about secret bounties, about secret fines, about hookers, and about the nasty underside of the No Fun League. A lot of folks focus on the mess LT made of his life. It's a fair point. He apparently got look a the list of 'How To Screw Up Really Bad' and made it a bucket list. And he was the author of much of his own misfortune. There was a point where it seemed that LT had only two choices in life: the NFL or prison. But nobody, NOBODY, who ever saw him play had any doubt that he was a once-in-a-generation talent in a vicious sport.

I remember watching this game and thinking how could an injured player come in late in the first half, and make such a difference? It just defied all expectations to have someone dominate a game like that. The NFL would have otherwise wanted such a player on offense, not defense. So I think LT's impact is underrated because he did it on defense. And I ain't a NY Giants fan (Washington fan here).

Don't get me wrong I think Barry Sanders is easily a top 3 back alltime maybe number 1, but for some reason the modern narrative about him is that he did it alone, and those lions teams had pro bowlers at nearly every level, including perennial pro bowlers like Herman Moore and Chris Spielman, but also guys like Lomas Brown, Bennie Blades, Jerry Ball, Those Lions teams were talented they just never had consistent enough Quarterback play and playoff caliber defenses could sell out on the run in the playoffs

In terms of cocaine use, it was pretty much a level playing field in those days. Coke and amphetamines flowed freely in the NFL, so LT's use didn't give him an unfair advantage--if anything, drugs shortened his career, and he was practically invisible in his last few years. But in his prime, no defensive player has ever come close to that level of dominance.
