I trying my hardest right now to not type a whole description focusing on Momma Merdarda and its really hard man.........Vi & Jace doing that tag team thing was pretty dope.......um. I love how up to this point, Mel has been occupying the role of instigator in the narrative - the character pushing for a strong response, 'preparing countermeasures' for Piltover, etc. - but once Momma Medarda rolls in things suddenly, but *believably*, shift. After seeing her mom again after years of trying to live up the Medarda standards, she is able to reorient, recognize her mom's influence on her own thinking, and be the voice of reason or temperance, cautioning against going to war. This show makes every character masterfully fleshed out, and those characters drive the plot so well.

I would say her strong response comes due to the fact that Piltover looks vulnerable to outsiders due to the unrest in the Undercity as Elora states before the scene she proposes weapons as a last defence if push comes to shove, and I think that's the beauty of Mel's character she may be a pacifist but she's realistic, she may not want war but she is strategic enough to understand that just because you may not want war that doesn't mean it will not come, let's not forget that she is one of the few characters who has witnessed several wars, she clearly understands that Piltover must prepare countermeasures and she even states in Ep9 that she wanted weapons to protect the city from people like her mother, she only goes against weapon production when it is clear that it will benefit Ambessa more than the city she loves

That's not true... She didn't shift, those were always her intentions, she said it herself "I sponsored HexTech to protect the city not burn it to the ground." Yes she wanted to prepare countermeasures but as a safety PRECAUTION, a just in case, she didn't want war, but if you think you're going to be attacked are you going to sit there and let it happen?

@@LangkeeLongkee Definitely agree with this, Mel's stance on building weapons as a defence never changes, even when Jayce talks about entering the Undercity to fight in Ep8 she indicates that it would trigger war and diplomacy should be used until it is no longer effective. Even when Ambessa says she accelerated a process Mel started she doesn't back down and indicate she didn't want any weapons, she indicates they were for the sole purpose of protection, I think many people hear weapons and believe Mel wanted to actively start a war which makes no sense, wanting weapons doesn't make her an instigator it makes her someone who has seen war enough times to know that one must always prepare

I really feel Vi and Jayce bring out the worst in each other. With VI’s recklessness and Jayce’s, it was inevitable their team up would turn out badly.

Even though there were casualties... i think there are a few big things jayce learned from this. - If shimmer factories are full of childlabor, something definitely gotta be done about the undercity and Silco - these are the demands of war. You can either accept it because much more horrible shit is going on that you need to stop, or go for a peaceful route. I think Vi already understood this. This wasn't reckless of her, she knew this was a risk but in her eyes Silco has to be stopped no matter what. "There's hundreds more where he came from thanks to silco and thanks to people like you, who stuck their heads in the dirt"

So then, is your answer stick your head in the sand, do nothing, turn a blind eye to all this shit Silco's been doing - drug manufacturing and distribution, putting children to work in extremely dangerous drug labs, not to mention getting them addicted to Shimmer and turning them into monsters for whatever use he has for them in that form, murder, and who knows how much other evil crap - and pretend it doesn't exist? Or perhaps you just want to talk for a few hundred years about maybe someday doing something, if the weather cooperates? Evil like Silco MUST be fought, ALWAYS, and unfortunately there are usually F'd up sacrifices that have to be made is such fights. Vi knows this, Mel knows this, and Jayce has to learn this, and the sooner he does, the better. It's NOT good, it's NOT ideal, it's NOT fun, and I DO NOT take it lightly, but it HAS to be done.

@@quwykxz I'm not saying that Vi and Jayce weren't doing a morally justifiable thing. I'm just saying that Vi and Jayce are the absolute worst people to work together on anything, because they enhance each other's character flaws. Someone like Caitlyn or Mel is better for them to work together with, as they are more levelheaded individuals. Also, it's funny. Silco would probably agree your stance with fighting evil, because from his perspective, that's exactly what he's doing. Silco follows fight Piltover's oppression at any cost, which is why he ends up doing all the things you are rallying against.

Exactly this show is enjoyable with absolutely no knowledge of the game but imagine for us that actually play it.... absolute gem this is, one of the best entertainment transitions ever And by the way the lore in the series is different to the game, kind of like the MCU is compared to the comics

Always love a movie/show that can give you a pulse-pounding, gorgeous action scene, and then low-key give you complicated feelings about enjoying the carnage. No finger-wagging here, just showing what happens when you kick in the doors. And you can totally mix oil and water, you just need a third emulsifying agent (egg yolks work, so does mustard) to allow it.

The moment the track started playing for the Vi and Jayce fight - I knew the animation budget was about to come in hot. As a side note: the "Little Big Daddy Bioshock Bitches" are canonically referred to as Chem Tanks - but before I knew that the name I came up with for them was "Shimmer Suits" and honestly, I still like my name better.

Shimmer factories were unfortunately some of the safest places in the undercity for kids. Silco know's who they're with, the aren't being exposed to fumes, they aren't risking themselves in Piltover trying to steal, and they aren't in the brothels. Minor spoilers for episode 9. One of the higher up Zaunites wouldn't have put her child there if there were a better option.

@@Gameguy-gk8lx I'm not saying I agree with child labor but look at what happened to Vi, Powder, Milo, and Clagor. Yes they were put into that situation partly by Silco but even before that they were almost shot by Marcus and the enforcers. I feel like if there were better solutions the woman from the undercity counsel would've utilized those solutions. The only other kid we see is the one Heimerdinger runs into and that kid is playing around with random trash. I'm not saying Silco is right, I'm just saying that they don't have a lot of good options.

Idk about the fumes part (they do have masks) but you're spot on about the other two reasons. This isn't a "taking kids going to school and forcing them into labour" situation, this is a "choosing between working a job or starving/begging in the streets" situation.

@@Gameguy-gk8lx well the writers know how the wrote him. And they wrote him to be a horrible person, but he does horrible things with good intentions. Everything he does its either for the Undercity or for Jinx, he doesn't always do the right thing, but y'all act like EVERY SINGLE THING he does is selfish and pure evil. There are people who still debate whether his love for Jinx is genuine cause they can't fathom that a bad person is still a PERSON not a caricature of evil.

@@Gameguy-gk8lx You do realize that in their time period, child labor was the norm, right? I'm sick and tired of people trying to force modern morality on people from the past, slavery was the norm not too long ago in history, and child labor became considered something bad literally in this century. Not to mention if young people have nothing to do they will steal and kill each other as in the case of Vi and the gang. Most importantly, children are not forced to work because of greed, in their economic situation a rare parent can support a family and children, so the sooner a child can provide for themselves and help the family, the better.

I'm sure someone has mentioned, but you can hear the metallic "tink" of Ekko knocking the grenade away before it explodes. It's the only reason he made it (and one of the two reasons Jinx made it).

I feel like people are programmed to go though this show regarding Vi as the faultless hero, by virtue of her being a/the protagonist. But honestly, she's a kid that was forced into a position of influence (dead parents, impressionable friends that looked up to her) who, because she ended up in prison, never had an opportunity to grow beyond that. Her solution to everything is fighting. Sure, some situations call for a fight, but she isn't able to discern one way or another. If an obstacle won't give, she just needs to punch harder. And Jayce was the worst person she could've tried to rope into it. He's got his air of power and control in a death grip, always trying to prove himself. And Vi comes along telling him he's the only one who can help, and he has the power to change things. So of course he bites, and they go off to punch things, and a kid gets killed. Sure, war will always come with collateral damage, except this wasn't war. It was a poorly planned raid. They went in swinging with no regard for the potential consequences. Recipe for disaster.

This is a late comment, but I just wanted to let you know that the reason Ekko and Jinx didn’t die from the grenade last episode is because Ekko smacked it away at the last second. You hear a metallic clang right before the grenade explodes.

What I love about this show is that it is not the cookie cutter 'good vs evil' plot. The protagonists walk in areas of gray of morality out of survival and trying to save what/whom they love; ironically, the antagonists also have a "the end justifies the means" mentality. They, too, are fueled by the determination to survive and save/protect what/whom they love. Some characters fit the description of neither protagonist nor antagonist but are still essential to the story. And one particular character, Jinx, seems to exist outside the parameters of characterizations used for the other characters. Trauma, guilt, mental illness, internal conflict of a nuanced self, vindication, and a hankering for acceptance seem to be her driving forces. The writing is excellent on this show, and this is coming from a guy who, before the show, didn't know League of Legends existed outside of hearing it's name Lol Dope reaction as always 🔥

Probably because next ep is the finale which you would’ve been watching instead of this as a member, but he hasn’t picked out the next show yet so when he releases the finale for this on his channel to normal viewers you would be getting the new series, which he hasn’t picked yet sorry if that was confusing lol

I'm thinking that, after this episode, seeing how you reacted to Mel's mom in the bath, and Cait in the shower, you should take a lil' bit of your own advice and drink plenty of water, 'cause you're lookin' pretty thirsty, my G..... 😏😅😆 (I think Mel's mom's OnlyFans page is right between Zuko's mom's, and Kya's, if you're interested. 😁)
