Project zomboid is honestly amazing. You can play it anyway you like really. I'm chilling out in the old cabin with a well deep in the woods and really enjoying turning it into a luxury cabin. Nothing beats almost dying to a hoard of 100+ zombies while you're running off with your freshly stolen chair, lamp and rug, all because you can't stop interior designing no matter what game you're in.

The majority of my plays I am Arch Angel Michael sent down in human form to restore the souls of those lost to the evil zombification curses of hell. My skill multipliers are insane and I max out skills early and no zombie respawn as their souls are saved once slain. Population set to insane and zombies modded to be as difficult as possible. Only melee weapons. No vehicles.

There are a few mods you could use to help this, such as forage saw, lets you craft a saw with chipped stones and a tree branch. There is also one where it is wooden dowels, a craftable nail alternative, but structures are not as strong as with nails. I also recommend trying the new forest map mod, there is only some civilization, like old stone structures, and no modern buildings (currently).

I do enjoy chilling in the woods in Zomboid and irl. Usually I'll carry a tent to sleep in, sometimes I'll hike, sometimes I'll LIVE IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER. Actually that's an idea for a challenge, live in a van for X amount of days moving every Y amount of days. Any two seater van so you have to be careful about damaging the back of the van, can sleep in the van or in something else beside the van. Can stay anywhere you like, but you have to move every so often. No trailers or towing other vehicles, except to move them out of the way. If the van breaks down you have to fix it, movement rule is suspended until you can drive again, but you still have to live out of the van wherever it is. Maybe have a bunch of landmarks to visit as a side quest, for example every bar or every campsite.

As a kid that grew up with his grandmother and her having a huge property with forest, a stream, and open farmland. I would run though the forest barefoot, and the ground is so soft. the only real thing you had to watch out for was thorn bushes. But other then that its some of the softest dirt you can walk on. And if they didn't add it to the game, they should make it the more you walk barefoot, the tougher your feet get.
@Bobylein1337

Yea, I also find that part very unrealistic, like in RL walking barefoot on asphalt will lead to injury (blisters) much faster than on any "natural" ground, that is if you watch where you step of course.

I've seen a similiar video somewhere, the guy was using lots of mods that allowed for survival SOLELY in the wild, like crafting wooden nails, crafted saws etc etc. I think it would also be awesome to see a "semi-realistic" series like this where you live in the wild (southeast part of the map seems to be the most empty) but are allowed to make some loot runs to the town once a week or two to get some essential tools and resources Also, did you actually put like 30-40 hours of gameplay (including estimated time speedups) into this video, or did you change it to 30 minutes per day?

I also added the clastrophobia trait, slow reader trait to add more outdoor-like traits whose titles escape me at the moment, I'll have to check later, but I greatly enjoyed the whole thing. Thank you for making this fun video, and giving me a cool idea for when I was bored, lol. I really enjoyed this. One thing though, it would be nice if you set up the challenge in the game settings more then going "I'm not allowed to do xyz". There's a lot of stuff you can adjust to get a different game. As for a suggesting, I think you should do a series called "100 Days As...." (or something) and then do a video for each occupation where you try to survive for 100 days with the strengths and weaknesses of that occupation. Some of them will be easier then others but I can also see some being a real challenge. And you could always spice things up with negative traits. I know there's mods that adds more occupations and i also think there's one that matches occupation with a logical starting point. Both would probably make it more fun. Anyway, hope to see more PZ content, have a like and a comment!

That was pretty cool. You didnt need much, just enough zombie kills to get the cloth needed for bandages and building and crafting. The rest you could get all by yourself without worrying about hordes and generators and mechanics and learning to hotwire etc. Very chill way to survive for a long time. Minimal danger, you may not have a fancy house with a generator powered oven and king sized bed, but you are comfortable and have your needs met. That depression trait was probably the biggest annoyance to deal with because of limited options to cure it but you found a way to cheese it easy enough. And hey, all the fish and broccoli you can eat! :p

Logs are such a bitch to transport over any distance; roping them together is a huge pain in the ass, since 4 logs nearly max you out on weight, you have to have basically nothing on you (Axes are heavy, rope is heavy, clothes are kinda heavy, it can add up to 14 easily sometimes; 4 logs are 36 for reference, you can only hold 50kg ever). Unroping them is clunky too, sometimes they just don’t unrope because you’re over encumbered, instead of unroping on the floor (Why do they need to be in my inventory to unrope)

I am always tempted to get this when I see it on sale but I am like 90% sure I will be overwhelmed if I tried to play it and likely drop it.

I clearly missed the part where you dealt with thirst though. How'd you get that sorted as I don't remember seeing you get a Pot/Pan to boil water in. Or was that dealt with with all the fish? Great video though! I love these kinda plays because it takes so much self control to NOT loot goblin the entire run and to leave so much good stuff untouched and survive off the land and build your own. Takes a lot to not get bored and start looking for the nearest firearm.
