Second in a series of videos that introduces the novice machinist to cylindrical grinding. Cylindrical grinding is not generally used by novice machinists but learning the basics of the process can help to impress a future employer or bring someone to farm out certain operations to a specialized shop because they would understand that this technique could help in completing an important part. More specifically, this video looks at three methods of offsetting for taper cutting, feeds and grinding wheel wear as well as how to align the machine properly for parallel cutting.

Thank you for this informative video! Can the side surface of the grinding wheel be used to grind a flat shoulder on the workpiece?

It says in my machinist handbook, when grinding a part with shoulders, dress the face of the grinding wheel 45 degrees, then swivel the head 45 degrees. Is that something you would agree with?
