Loved Dr Karan, very authentic (and normal hehe). Something I ALWAYS wonder about surgeons is- how they feel about becoming Miss/Mr? Years of med school and training yet when fully fledged surgeons you get same title as people who aren't Drs?

Such great advice - building trusting patient relationships lead to better outcomes. Question: What is an attending schedule like? I know surgery schedule is pretty different in the UK as compared to the US.

He’s not quite an attending he’d be a chief resident equivalent. Not too different from myself. 50-60h weeks, 1 in 4 weekends, 1 in 4 nights (pre covid) now it’s whatever goes

Hiya! Great video :) I just wanted to say something about one of the points you made. I'm taught as an ODP student that it's NEVER okay to call a Doctor/Surgeon by their first name we always have to use 'Doctor Karan' for example, I've been in situations where I've accidentally called somebody by their name and been chastised for it and labelled unprofessional & being 'too familiar' what's your opinion on this?

So I really enjoyed watching this though not a medical student in any way possible. It was nice to see a more personal side to medical staff. So I have a question, what sort of Surgeon is Dr Karan ( which part of the body does he specialise in) and which sort are you training to be?

Late watching this... about that story about your Arabic - I had the same problem doing work experience in Greek in the gastro department where I knew all the colloquial words but none of the proper official ones... had to learn very fast on the job from context hahaha
