With years of experience as a touring and session player with artists including Chris Cornell and Melissa Etheridge, his skills as musician, producer and presenter come to the fore on his KZfaq channel, / sinasl1 . Pete Thorn was ,among other things, the late great Chris Cornell's touring and studio guitarist, a few days after Chris passed in May Pete posted on KZfaq one of the most heartfelt tributes to that man , it broke my damn heart , anyway , Pete cemented a place in my heart that day as a true artist and gentlemen, good video guy's, thanks

This is why I'm such a Pete Thorn fan, just a great creator and his tone always spot on. I will own that guitar one day. Know your gear is huge for me. I've watched KZfaq creators just get caught up in gear, not knowing how to use it or just focusing on gear where their guitar playing suffers.

So glad you had Peter on as he's a special talent. Loved Pete's discussion of using the iPhone and templates and instruments in Logic as a creative tool or aid. The concept of not "premixing" your sound is key to how you explore, find new sounds and ideas.

Dan. You asked the question I've always wondered about. Because you are right, Pete always plays something that shows the pedal off in different ways that fits the sound of that pedal. The great thing about KZfaq is that while you guys are somewhat in competition you also complementary. I don't have to choose which channel to watch, I just choose which order to watch them, and both TPS and Pete Thorn are at the top of my playlist

My favorite TPS videos are when you guys bring classic pedals and try to match the sound with modern equivalents . I recently scored an original Foxx fuzz/wah/octive pedal.Had one when I was a kid too. How about a show pitting the original, against a reissue, against a chain of pedals?

Next year at Guitcon with Pete: Instead of trading licks, trade guitars! One man on the G2 A/B button, another man ready to hand Pete the next guitar quickly. Get him to test his "studio musician chops" (fun challenge!) by playing the same lick the same way 3 times in a row - through the same amp with the same pedals - with the PT Suhr gold top on "single coil sound," then with the Tele, and then with the Strat. See how close you can get the tones (this presumably controls for the "player's fingers" variable), and see how closely Pete can play the same exact thing 3 times in a row! :P Cheers!

I was really surprised how good Pete's humbuckers sounded in parallel and split. I won't be selling my strat or tele anytime soon, but those sounds seem like they would be very usable for live performance.

What fantastic advice on composing “don’t pre edit your songs and allow yourself to be bad” Great way to free up the creative juices.Good for me anyhow as I mostly play bad unlike Mick Dan and Pete
