Thazhvaram is a 1990 Indian Malayalam-language western thriller film directed by Bharathan and written by M. T. Vasudevan Nair. It tells the story of Balan (Mohanlal), who's on the lookout for Raju for taking revenge for murdering his wife Raji (Anju). Bharathan also composed the only song featured in the film, the background score was provided by Johnson.

I always felt Mohanlal use his eyes to communicate, in the first scene when he sees the villain, in another scene when he was listening to sankaradi , he was amazing. I felt in sadayam movie when he sees Thilakan character even though there is no dialogues he speaks with his eyes

@@amal.369 this clarity is superb... The team deserves appreciation. But other channels have a better colour tone and they don't have subtitles. And I think it's from negative, because a print from a positive contains white vertical scratch lines. (Let's wait for MN's clarification for whether it's from a positive print or not).

I think this is sourced from a positive print instead of a negative, hence the high contrast. Also the encoded subtitles means it must have been an archive print, which is why it's in good shape.

This isn't the exact colour tone. Due to the ageing of film, colour tone of film is degraded like this. And I think this print might have remastered from a negative, see the black film scratches, the vertical ones. But this might not have remastered from the original negative, which doesn't contain subtitles. Subtitles were used for award nominations, festivals and for some non theatrical exhibitions and those may be 16mm. For these purposes positive prints were made from the duplicate negative prints which contain subtitles. Although, we have got a scene with good clarity.

Good effort. But the contrast is overenhanced and the colour tone has been messed up. The original tone is better. Hope that issue can be fixed.

This is from positive print which is already color graded on 1990. Will never get original negative color.
