The only way I would consider this boxed set is if it included EVERY disney/pixar/Marvel/Lucasfilm film and TV show (this includes Song of the South), AND includes every short film ever - from the Alice and B&W Mickey shorts to the ones from Pixar. Then I would consider it.

I doubt that it will be the original unedited versions of their movies and I am not paying for a woke remake of films I love.

You almost gotta wonder if they're releasing all the films in their purest form, too. I can almost smell the call out posts on Twitter of people who've bought them pointing out some of the films have been censored or edited in some capacity, especially the older ones.

What the hell happened to the idea of "cheaper in bulk"? I swear, I'm even seeing food products now where the bulk option is equal, or sometimes even more expensive, then the smaller portion.

This would be a cool idea if; -The price was lower. And I mean much lower. Even high triple digits seems steep for what you get. -The movies included were all the best cuts/quality available for each film. -The Mickey Mouse ears are actually crystal. Even then that kind of relegates it to a display piece. -The money wasn't going to modern Disney. Until then, lol.

My biggest issue with this set other than the cost is the fact that for this cost, you’re getting these movies on old transfers, save for only two or three exceptions, and most of the bonus material on the single Blurays are missing and no new special features are added. Like you said, this reeks of desperation rather than honoring the company’s legacy, but considering Disney’s been cheap in quality with some of their recent and more obscure releases before, this isn’t surprising.

With this box set costing $1,500, the Giants had better luck coming back in the fourth quarter on Sunday than Disney does of this going well for them. 😂

The best part is that I just looked on Amazon for something similar to the box set. I found 2 sets that equal to about 70% of what's in $1500 one and it only costs $330 for the other two. Disney never fails to amaze me and not in a good way

Id buy a box set of WWF, WCW and ECW from 1993-2002. All the shows, all the PPVs on Bluray. Uncut, uncensored and with the original entrance music. That is the only box set Id pay that kind of money for.

I looked at the list of films in this set and I came to the conclusion that 2010 was the end of the great animated films era for Disney and pixar. In the 13 years since 2010 I only counted five films that were actually good with the last being Zootopia in 2016. Sad 😔

In 2012 when Universal was celebrating their 100th anniversary, they too released a collection of what I think was 100 movies. And i don't remember the price for it, but i think it was like 200 bucks or something like that... not 1500...

Will the box set's contents be uncut and uncensored? Or will every movie begin with intrusive disclaimers about "past attitudes," have all "problematic" scenes cut or otherwise censored, outright omit 'Song of the South' and other "problematic" movies, as I suspect?

Holy crap what does Disney think they’re doing. I went to Goodwill recently and picked up who framed roger rabbit on dvd/blueray for $2. I’d bet you could get every movie on this set at goodwill, pick up a dvd player and vcr and save like a grand.

In answer to your question, Jeff, there actually IS a DVD/Blu-ray box set for which I'd pay $1500, but it's one I know that Warner Bros might never produce. 🚫 That's right: it's a complete Looney Tunes anthology. All 1000 theatrically released WB cartoons from 1930 to 1969, restored and uncensored, with any extra features they care to add. ✔

I can build a gaming PC for for that. Will it be the best? No. But neither are those movies.

The kinds of people that would even consider this don't shop at WALMART of all places. At best, they'd be better off doing direct order for that monstrosity. Would I pay anything close to that for a box set? No. Never. Tops that I'd ever consider is maybe $200 with some fun and cool merch included. A fold out book isn't it though.

Dude, I went shopping the other day and saw Disney had revamped the covers for their DVDs and BluRays. They looked all pretty and silver...and brand new price tags on them as well.

This happened just a few days ago: My wife and daughter had just finished watching The Little Mermaid (Basketball American Edition), and immediately started the original Disney The Little Mermaid (the correct verson). They were barely watching the live action version, my wife texting on her phone and my daughter playing with other toys. A soulless, unexciting modern movie. As soon as “Part of Their World” started on the original they were both spell bound from beginning to end. So much more soul and passion went into the movie and you can tell. It’s the end of the line for Disney I believe. They’ll either get bought out or replaced, a footnote in history. Pretty tragic.

I only buy the Disney movies that I like. If I wanted their entire animation catalogue, I can buy the discs individually.

This isn't for us. This is for those rich people that have their own home theaters or maybe have one of their home theaters dedicated to their children.

$1500 for 100 films equals $15 per film. Not a horrible deal when you include digital copies but ONLY for someone that DOESNT already own any of these films. You can purchase these films individually for a lot less (even thru the Disney movie club).

A whole lot of classics missing from that collection. It's mostly filled up with all their shit from the 2000's and later. I wouldn't pay $300 for that set. Anything in there I care about, I already got it. Wow, they're not going to sell more than 20 of these.

Another recent example Disney overcharging for Blu-Rays is the Mandalorian Seasons 1 & 2. I was interested in them initially, but $40 per season was just too much. $40 for both would have still been steep but maybe doable.

If that box set contained the original edition of EVERY Disney movie made before 2002 (including Disney Channel movies) I would consider it.

When you realize 1500 is around the same number of people who perished on the _Titanic_

They're going to sell only a limited number of these box sets, and they're going to pray that exclusivity allows them to sell them out, but what's likely to happen is, about 1/5th of them will sell, another 2/5s will get picked up by scalpers hoping to capitalize on their exclusivity, and the remain 2/5s will sit and rot because nobody's got the money. That or all of them will get picked up by scalpers and nobody will pay even more than their already insane asking price. So in either case, in a years' time, people are probably going to be able to pick up the box set in mint condition or near-mint for about 500 bucks, maybe even less.

You could buy all the movies in the box set and I bet you still wouldn’t break a thousand dollars. On top of that, a good portion of the movies, we already own them. Why even waste all that money, just finish the collection you started with.

Honestly, the way each disc holding thingy folds out and stands is kind of cool, but that's where it stops there.

Its a shame the international shipping cost puts me off getting stealing solo.

$1500 isn't that out of line price wise for a boxset that large considering the fact that back in the day the complete 60 disc Law & Order boxset was $1200 after taxes.

Why pay 1500 when those 100 movies are mostly junk and include none of the extras. You can go to a pre owned goods store and find the majority of classic disney movies on dvd, vhs, and sometimes even blu ray for MUCH cheaper then that box set. I could go to my local thift store, buy 100 dics for 5 dollars (or 1 dollar if its vhs) and save over one third compared to that box set of over priced garbage!

The price should be dropped to $600 dollars or increase the number of films to 250 animated movies with over 100,000 hours of special and bonus features and throw in 100 plus old animated shorts including Steamboat Willie and Spooky Scary Skeletons to justify the price.

If it was like what D+ was imagined to be... I'd buy it. I'd love to have at least 480p archive of lets say every single Ub Iwerks Mickey mouse, WW2 Disney, and every movie produced up to let's say Little Mermaid in 1080p. I'd pay to get good quality old Walt Disney shows with Walt and Annette Funicello hosting, Mickey mouse club, etc. Hell charge another $50 to get a 4k Song of the South, so realistic you'd call the cops on Uncle Ruckus.

If Disney wants to make real money, release a 4K Star Wars set 1977-1983 UNEDITED. Get rid of all the stupid changes that Lucas made in the 90's and they will make a shit load of money. Make it just like the Harmy De-specialized Edition.

The cherry on top is, they're probably still the edited versions of the movies. Ones with stuff cut out because it's not culturally appropriate, misheard lines that people presumed was swearing, characters cells that were wonky and were redrawn because ppl presumed it was perverted or silly stuff like Lilo and Stitch editing a washing machine into a pizzabox lid on... something, in fear kids might go into washing machines. If you're paying this kind of money, shouldn't the movies be the uncut, unedited versions?
