0:15 Symptoms of high cortisol
2:10 #1 sign of high cortisol
4:00 Natural remedies for high cortisol
Today I'm going to share the best way to tell if you have high cortisol. Cortisol is the main stress hormone. If cortisol is too high, it can lead to a lot of different health problems.
High cortisol can potentially lead to issues, such as:
• Belly fat
• High blood pressure
• Allergies
• Asthma
• Acne
• Anxiety
• Low tolerance to stress
• Inflammation
• Blood sugar problems
• Cravings for carbs
• Decreased libido
• Decreased potassium
• Alkalosis
The #1 sign of high cortisol is if you wake up at about 2:00 am - 2:30 am every night. The pattern for high cortisol is waking up at about 2:00 am - 2:30 am with a lot of thoughts that keep you awake until about 8:00 am.
This happens because cortisol follows the circadian wave. Cortisol is normally supposed to be the lowest at about 2:00 am and the highest at 8:00 am. When you have high cortisol, everything is backward. You might also feel like you need a nap mid-day around 2:00 - 3:00 pm.
Potential remedies for high cortisol:
1. Improve your stress
2. Take long walks in nature
3. Do physical work to the point where you're tired
4. Vitamin B1 (nutritional yeast)
5. Vitamin D3
6 . Potassium and magnesium
7. Apple cider vinegar

Anyone who has a relationship with a narcissist will have high cortisol, I had 10 years with me ex covert narcissist, so much stress now I’ve got major physical issues diabetes overweight high blood pressure I had two strokes all because somebody lies to you constantly and then leaves you hanging because they’ve discarded you left me with three years of wondering why and neglecting myself at the same time by self-medicating then I had my stroke both ischemic And hemorrhagic at the same time, I was down in my apartment for 36 hours before somebody called the police and have them come check on me had it not been for that somebody I would be dead because I died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital they did a craniotomy on me when I got there cut out part of my brain that had died three weeks later I was recovering in rehab now I’m paying lots of attention in my diet watching Dr. Berg as well

The ironic part is that most of this stress (high cortisol) is caused by having to hold onto a job we absolutely hate going to, day in ... day out. The dread of ' omg hope i sleep because i have to wake up and go to my shitty job ' lingers in the brain, and the end result is we have a hard time either falling asleep or staying asleep. And big pharma know this !

Big pharma has nothing to do with that🤔 you have to choose to change it! Dr. Berg, won’t bore you with details but here’s a list in the past two years. I have a medical background and use your info to shape my health and diagnostic testing. 1) Stopped taking heartburn meds and use ACV. CURED. 2) tested vitamin D level found at 20ug/dl now taking supplements at >10k IU and retested at 57. 3) Your videos on hypothyroidism lead to a test and a confirmed diagnosis. No conversion issue. 4) tested A1c = OK 5) taking glutamine, enzymes for bile production, added zinc, magnesium , vitamin D and fish oil and my blood work is great. 6) exercised my entire life, just changed my training to be compatible for goals. 7) IF is a life changer for my body type. I limit carbs and sugar but don’t do Keto. 8) Got a DNA test to supplement blood work Q6 months to stay on target. 9) I bought a glucose meter to start testing myself based on your videos to dial in my data points for max efficiency as I train for strength, do my yoga and walk daily with the dog. 10) your videos have been wicked awesome.

Years ago my Dr Who specialised in Hormones, tested my Cortisol levels, and told me the range, and once you were over that range what the multiplying factors were for each one over the range. Mine wasn't as high as his, however, he put me on Folic Acid, (primarily, MEGAFOL), 1mg. Once a day, to prevent heart events. (This is the same as they give you during Pregnancy to make sure you had a lesser chance of having a Baby with Spina-bifide! He, of course, needed a 5mg dose as his Cortisol levels were much higher than mine. He wasn't at all concerned about Cholesterol. That would have been about 2007. He also gave me a Progesterone Cream, he had made especially for his Pts as he believed Estrogen caused problems, in Menopausal Women, which turns out to be the case. Hope this helps someone.

Wow, I’ve been going through that 2am-8am cycle for almost 2 years now and never understood why. I recently started going to the gym and that has helped. But I never knew it was due to having high cortisol. I wish I’ve watched your videos sooner. Super helpful and scientific. Thank you!

My husband and I have been following your suggestions for at least five years now. We both have improved our metabolical age. I am 68 years of age and my husband is 66. I have reduced my metabolic age to 21 and my husband is not far behind me. We both take your products, specific to our symptoms and conditions and have found amazing benefits....like the fact that we can get around very well on our own steam and our mental health has certainly improved! Thank you for ALL you share with us and that we are able to purchase quality products from you...I know this sounds like an advertisement but, the fact of the matter is, we still have to do the work and be the one's to implement the change. Faith without works, is dead...and that's what we would be....far too early...if we did not heed the suggestions you freely, present for options of great health... It is a way of life for us now, not a 'diet'. It is, what quality, we want to create for our physical and mental lives. Thanks again Dr. Berg!

Your advice on intermediate fasting has helped with so many minor ailments I have had. One, I believe fasting helped my body repair itself from an old injury (a torn ligament) in my shoulder. The other, I have only taken one antacid tablet in two years due to your advice with acv. No omeprazole for me! Thank you, Dr. Berg! You are my go to for health knowledge! 🙂

Thank you for your videos. They have been so helpful to me. I didn't have a decent nights sleep for the past ten years. I was under stress for that whole time. 2AM every night I would wake up and not be able to get back to sleep. I couldn't take a nap during the day for various reasons. I watched one of your other videos on cortisol. Then watched many others on different subjects. Nothing else had solved any of my health issues. I started on Keto, lost 20 lbs of Covid 19 stay at home weight. I also have been taking supplemental Potassium Citrate, Nutritional Yeast, Vitamin D and working very hard in my yard , hauling rocks in a wheelbarrow.I am now feeling better than I have is years. My sleep improved enough that I am not a Zombie anymore during the day. I am 75 and have more energy than I have had in a very long time. Thank you again. I think you saved my life.

Thank you Dr Berg for explaining this issue with cortisol ( and ALL of your wonderful advice!) My food choices and intake are finally helping to control my weight ( I’m tiny with mobility problems) I’d had a bad experience earlier this week when an aggressive neighbour was bellowing abuse at me I realise he also has issues controlling his insulin/cortisol etc which probably puts him in ‘ panic mode’ I feel obliged to steer him towards you ! Curiously I woke at 2.30am the next night and couldn’t sleep until sunrise.

Your set of videos, this one and others, on cortisol has help recognize a few of my habits. The 2 AM waking and a large amount of visceral fat were my worse and most frustrating symptoms. Between progressive weight training 4X a week (being mindful of lower body exercises), meditative breathing exercises and daily intermittent fasting (16/8) for the past 4 months, I have eliminated nearly all the symptoms you mention here and had lost 10 pounds of visceral fat and gained 5 pounds of muscle. A year ago, I weighed in at 270 pounds overall and 4 months later, about 250. As my trainer tells me, it is likely I will reach my goal of reaching my former overall weight of 185 but will feel very successful if I return to 200 pounds as long as I can get back to a healthier level of visceral fat. AND, my PCP can verify all of this but it was you who helped me to investigate all possibilities. Thank you!

I have a diagnosis of high cortisol, my functional medicine doc said I should avoid weight training at the gym, but I feel like its the one thing that de-stresses me. I'm sure a lot of us have some success stories coming out of Covid; I personally was ballooning up 30+ lbs with no end in sight until I discovered keto last year; now I'm nearly to the point I was back when I was training for a marathon a few years back with much less physical training required. Not only that, my entire outlook on life changed on keto; it really does change a person's attitude. I feel like I can take on anything now with little to no stress, and things don't anger or frustrate me like they once did. I have no urge for sugar (in fact I feel bad when I have some) and the fast food has also gone down to zero. I still have some improvement to do (ex. drinking) but keto has really changed everything for me.

I've dropped weight, my clothes fit looser, my energy had sky rocketed, I've had several people tell me I look healthier! Even my skin has improved! I have a ways to go, but it's a work in progress! I eat smart. Have let go of most carbs and sugars... Will try some dry fasting in a few months like I used Todo when much younger!
