Angela, Thank you for your teaching. I'm REALLY enjoying your work. As I mature, I'm finding that I'm bored and impatient with my old tight style. My loose journey began with Jean Haines, but I have to say, your style speaks to me more. I'm hoping to meet you on Madeline Island one day, not this year, but soon.

This video was very informative.Seeing you paint the scene loosely and then again even more loosely, helps me see the steps to let go & let the paint do more of the work. I wish I had been able to painting #1 & painting 2 side by side @ the end. I liked how you loosened the blue shadows in #2. Thank you for the tutorial.

I see the advantage if being loose however I like the first version much better. I could walk into that scene and enjoy the cool dusk.

andrea mussman I prefer the first version as well, but what I love about Angela is seeing her appreciate her own work so much. It inspires me.

@@rebeccalyons1327 I was inspired too. In fact I'm working on my own birch trees as we text.

I think what is most interesting is seeing how her style has changed a bit. More abstract? Interesting to see the difference experience plays in the decision making process.

I really like how the new focal area (to my eye anyway) is in the glow beside the dark shrub to the left of the painting. Loved watching you develop that.

Thanks a lot for good lesson. It is very evident that your work with watercolor has become more loose and free and developed an intuitive charm. One Thing I noticed is in your original you have captured mood of bright sunny day by your choice of colors. In this work you have chosen colors that sobered the mood to kind of evening light. Was that intended? Or its natural evolution of alk Artists ?

I’m afraid of wasting expensive paper. Do you use the back of failed paintings? If so how do you prepare the paper.

She does! The painting I purchased from her has a floral on the “back” which is actually the front... from watching her teaching for quite a while now, I don’t believe you have to do anything other than flip it over and paint! It may have an ever so slight different texture, but generally not noticeable and does not effect the outcome. She recommends this in many of her videos. Blessings 💚
