Last year Purdue climbed the mountain when lots of people had already given up on them. but just 10 years ago, they were the worst team in the big ten. so how did Purdue go from worst to first in 10 years?

The basketball program at Purdue has been top-notch even with the disappointments. The coaches and players have demonstrated consistent and tenacious dedication to playing Black and Gold B-ball that is truly appreciated by most of the fan base. It's also not hard to armchair quarterback the team and coaching. It's been SO MUCH FUN being a Boilermaker over the past few years. But remember - it's kids playing a game. Go Boilers.

I completely agree. Sadly, sports media as a whole have moved twords a championship or bust attitude. Obviously a natty is the goal, but winning big ten championships is still an accomplishment for these guys. No doubt that they put in the work every day.

I would get frustrated being a fan of a historical mediocre program. My favorite program is elite.

@@JTH-hm8ew it's definitely more frustrating reading your uppity snobby comments.

I suppose that being a fan of the program that holds the NCAA record for most Final Fours at 21 and the most all time NCAA tourney wins does tend to make its respective fans spoiled.

@JTH-hm8ew so as a North Carolina fan you came here to start hating on Purdue...you have no beef with us other than we beat you the last time we played. You aren't a rival or anything.

last 5 minutes totally summed up so well how so many of us fans felt in little cesar’s arena on March 31st 2024. Never ever will I forget that moment knowing that the monkey is off the programs back

Great video. A handful of minor inaccuracies tho. Our first ever #1 ranking came in the 21-22 season, not 22-23. Stefanovic and Wheeler didn’t play in 17-18 just to name a couple. Not hating, just letting ya know.
@limitless_pulls9 күн бұрын
Ya I should've checked that. Idk why I thought Sasha and Wheeler were freshmen in 17-18, Maybe I was thinking bc that was the year they committed? Idk, it's all cool tho. Thanks for letting me know.

@@limitless_pullsyou are both right and wrong. they both were on that squad, they both redshirted. painter played all 4 freshman the next season, and worked very well. Also the 2019-20 season wasn’t as bad as you remember, including 5 ranked wins (2 of them top 10 ranked wins) but the season overall we were so inconsistent lol.

Great season, and while a lot of pain was relieved, we still failed to reach the one goal which was also painful considering how close we got. Guards win in March and our guards were way softer than UConn’s. I hope Purdue wins it all before I die 😂

Great comment done by somone who really doesn't know anything about me or this channel. I've been a Purdue fan since I was born. Got clowned on at school all the time for it. I was fighting for my life at the lunch table anytime Purdue lost. Thank God I was on spring break when March madness was going on. Why you felt the need to come back after your first comment and say this, I dont understand. Kind of a dick thing to do.

The hate will always come. I’ve heard “didn’t win the championship” from non UCONN fans. I’ve also heard “see you guys are frauds” when Catchings decomitted. But I don’t really care. I’m just happy we finally did something in March
@limitless_pulls9 күн бұрын
Ya that stuff is weird. If people read about why Catchings decomitted and think that's a Purdue problem, then idk what to say.

It only took 44 years for historical mediocre Purdue to reach the Final Four again! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

44 straight years in between Final Fours. Purdue is the opposite of my favorite program which is elite unlike Purdue.
@freakboy409 күн бұрын
I really still do respect this program even as a UCONN fan. It's hard to come from irrelevance to where the program is now. That takes hard work and from all accounts Purdue does it the right way. They aren't out there going after other teams players. Still wish them the best.

As a UConn fans we know the feeling of heart breaking losses back in the early 90s. Purdue beat a lot of really good teams the past two seasons and making it to the championship isn't anything to scoff at.

Great video, who cares about saying a players name perfect, Funny thing is all those losers knew who you were talking about when they put their loser ass comments on this video. Shrug off the hate and keep pumping out the content! Thanks again and Boiler Up! Last year is only the beginning of the next great story for Purdue.

Thanks, but it is something I need to work on. I shouldn't think I can always rely on my memory to pronounce names correctly 😂. Just gotta improve and keep on going. Can't wait to see what the next few years look like for Purdue basketball and football.

To fully tell the story, a few minutes should have been spent analyzing why Purdue finished last in the Big Ten conference and what became the driving force behind Painter's approach to recruiting. For those who don't know, the answer is Terone Johnson's brother Ronnie. No disrepect to Terone Johnson, who is an amazingly good guy despite being raised by a complete ***hole. Terone had all of the characteristics Matt Painter looks for in a player. So, it was not surprising that Terone's more talented and sought after brother signed with Purdue a couple of years later. What was surprising was the Ronnie was a selfish piece of ****. The kind of player who puts himself before the team. As the team struggled, Ronnie, with the help of his father, mutinied, tried to take the rest of the team with them and force Painter out as coach. Everything culminated in a post-game press conference in which Coach Painter lamented signing players because they have family on the team. He said, "this isn't high school, I don't have to sign guys just because they live in my district." Ronnie got the message and transferred. And you wonder why Painter let Kanon Catchings walk?

Stg I thought Nojel was pronounced with the J. I remember going to the game against Penn State in Mackey, and it was said with the J. Same thing with Rapheal Davis. It's not like I didn't do research or didn't know about these guys before I made this video.

I mean us losing the national championship still doesn’t erase the choking over the last decade. If they had won the title then yeah it would’ve meant something but we didn’t. Now we still have the losing to low seeds narrative and more importantly no actual title we can look back on then just second place.
@limitless_pulls7 күн бұрын
Winning the national championship still wouldn't erase the choking, you can't erase it. Those games still happened. we could win 10 championships, and that would still be part of our history. If you can't look back on that run and be happy and just see it as "second place," idk what to tell you.
