Next to no company is ever this transparent of expenses and how they operate, brilliant of you and the entire team Michael. Personally one point on this that I have enjoyed especially with these Black Friday sales is KNOWING that 10am is the release time, as for limiting quantities I think it’s a bit selfish of people to ask that unless the item is potentially a VERY rare and limited quantity piece that comes in. Keep up the good work I love buying from you guys always gone without a hitch

Definitely agree about the Black Friday 10am deals! That's 3 for 3 (though I wasn't in a position to get a Pd deal on the 3rd round). Still, got the two before and already have my pre 10am alarm set for Cyber Monday! ;)

Hey - markets work on “Supply & Demand” - bullion now work on a high turnover with low margins - I’d rather go with a low margin and maybe miss out than pay a massive premium just to guarantee I can get a product.........this is how the world works.

I, like most members of the Bullion Now family, want you guys to be around loooooong term! I have missed deals, I have missed out on items I was wanting to buy. But you know what! Opportunities come more than once. I think the fairest way to do it is how ever Michael and the team choose. Thank you for the insight into the business and the struggles you have to deal with. Personally I missed out on numerous 'lower priced items' (eg: 80% Ag 50c piece, certain 1oz silver coins, etc) simply because I feel bad for all the work that needs to go to secure, put away, notify of outcome, etc for a single coin/low number of coins. That's a LOT of work for little return. I know this is my choice but in the end if I miss out now I will just get something else instead and then look forward to attaining what I missed out on next time. A lot of it comes to personal choice. I'm just happy to receive great customer service and an opportunity to buy on a constant basis, one form of bullion or another. The main suggestion I would like to make and see implemented, is similar to what you have done with the Emu's: sell most of it online but keep a small reserve for in-store purchases only. This I feel provides most versatility, especially for people that may miss out on a video for various reasons, then get a nice surprise if they see it on-store. On that note, I would like to suggest you guys expand on your shop display cases to showcase the never items you have that may or may not be up on the website yet. I think I missed out on an Emu like this as I was too preoccupied introducing my friend to your shop for the first time and helping him decide what to buy, then forgot all about the Emu I was going to get for myself. If it was available AND on display, I would have picked it up. In any case, I'm not going to cry over it - I'll just buy something else from you guys (which I already did over the Black Friday deals ; )

Good on you for being open about it and how much you make per item as it does open people eyes that you don't really make that much off one item only maybe your going to have to put your prices up on the limited numbers items available to cover your costs to sell at 1 or 2 items for each person maybe your selling too cheap lol just a idea if people want to have items limited to 1 or 2 per person they might have to pay a little more just so you can cover your costs?

Business is business, I have missed out a number of times but thats just the way it is, if bunnings has a sale on something and you get there and its sold out then you either say oh well next time, or if you really want it go to another store, I would prefer to support Bullion Now but if i missed something i really wanted I would either wait or try another supplier, and if its something thats just cool i would like one and miss out, then i miss out. Bullion Now is doing a great job and in time im sure you will grow and be able to expand your product range and availability to where this is not even an issue.

Sad to hear that people complain. As Michael said, he could easily on sell the interesting stuff without online customers knowing. But we get the opportunity from time to time and even if we miss out we get fun videos to watch. It’s a great business model. Michael well explained, hopefully the subject is finished.

Keep doing what your doing , I recommend your videos as you guys have a great channel and the passion comes through but at the end of the day your running a great business and survival is paramount. I missed out on a buy so what it’s part of the game you win some you lose some but please don’t change your business structure for a few when the majority are happy..I’m speaking from experience.....looking forward to your next video. Great stuff Michael. Open and honest as usual. Priority #1 - Make sure the business is viable and profitable, otherwise all the other discussion points are irrelevant. Priority #2 - See #1; we (your customers and fans) want BullionNow around for a very long time. In line with #1, I think there should be a public Minimum Order Value, whether it's $50, $100... (or an internally understood Min Profit Margin) because it simply isn't worth tying up resources for less. As you stated, if the really small orders slowly contribute to a degradation of the business, none of us are happy. With specials and quick sellouts, it is a hard one to control automatically via the website. Perhaps for these designated items you change the ADD TO ORDER button to EXPRESS INTEREST (or similar) so you then have the opportunity to parse through those enquiries manually. This gives you the option to divide inventory equitably based on certain criteria such as percentages requested, long-time customer loyalty, and maybe even keep enough to spread them around more. This gives you the ability to observe your company philosophy more. Regarding payment, you could either take the initial full payment and refund any difference, or raise and invoice once you've calculated who gets what. Again this would only apply to specials, otherwise it's too much of a burden on the everyday transactions.

The recent 1/2 ounce coins - I could have bought the lot but bought just a small amount so others could also get some - just commonsense and thinking about others.

Absolutely and me too! Same went with the pre-decimal bundles. Saw there were only eight and while I wanted to get two, I just picked up one so that more got a chance to buy one. In the end very happy that I did that as it sold out by the time I finished the purchase, and from what I read, all went to different buyers :)

I don’t mind missing out. First in ,best dressed. May I suggest leaving the coin pic on the on the website but put a big red SOLD OUT across it, then when you scroll through the coins you can see if it was really there and that it went quick. Just an idea. Cheers.

I agree as well, first in gets it. Atleast you guys give the opportunity to the public to grab these popular items and not private sell like you mentioned. You guys are the best bullion dealer around and none of us want you guys going out of business. Maybe for the popular items you have this problem with, sell them at a fixed price (and not have it fluctuating with spot). Then you would be able to set buy limits for customers, and also not have to worry about spot price slips.

There probably is no easy solution when demand is so high and supply so tight. Today it is a case of if one misses the release of the KZfaq video then one loses out. Not everyone can sit glued to KZfaq all day keeping watch, so maybe consider having a customer email list and shoot out an email right as a video is going live. I know some people seem to be able to get KZfaq to email them directly using the notifications settings but it does not work for me :(.

I think a solution to this issue would be raising the prices (i.e. supply and demand) but then you would have unhappy customers too, so there really isn't a simple solution because the customers will either get mad cuz high prices/premiums or because they can't get hold of the coin because they're sold out.

You could do a 8-12hr embargo on larger number purchases and set the minimum buy to a decent number that way you service all the customers and give people the chance to buy

I actually feel bad when I only buy one coin (like the emu) as I know the margins are small and it's hardly worth your time, so I try to get a few different coins in one go where possible so there's only one set of invoicing & picking, and I get the occasional bar which has a larger dollar margin to make up for it. At the end of the day Bullion Now is a business, so if you put up 500 coins and the 1st buyer snaps up all 500, then that's better for you and 95% of people understand that. If you want to do us a favour on hot items and release 300 with no limits, then 100 each for the next 2 days at 9am with a limit of 10 per person, that could be a happy medium. Thanks for considering your customers, you're a great bloke Michael.

I understand ... because if you had 150 separate sales on a volume limited coin = 150 mailout's = extra labour costs = no profit / or a loss ... where as if only 6 customers buy ... that is only 6 mailout's = less labour costs ... alot of buyers only look at spot price and do not see the premiums associated with coins or what other costs are involved for bullion dealers

@@theuglytruth9595 ... perhaps raising the cost of "packaging and handling" would be better ... rather than shipping and insurance (which are fixed costs) ... I noticed that ABC now charges a "processing fee" (which covers invoicing, wage costs for the packers and packaging costs) ... maybe that would be the best way to go on smaller orders ... as even customers who hold and accrue small purchases ... there is still invoicing and processing involved, in adding 1 or 2 coins to a consolidated order ... at the end of the day ... time = money

Hey Mike as a director of BN you are expected to ensure the viability of the business and the staff who support it. Its a fine balancing act as you know to try and please all.. don't lose sleep over it. My suggestion would be to do small releases (like the Emu) every day on the special pieces at a fixed price (ex Spot) we all know they will go fast anyway. Either way you got my support.. keep it up !

Thank you for the updates and sales announcement s. Really happy with my 4 emus thanks, as you said go easy on them and I appreciate that philosophy. 2 suggestions as a video is recorded and released dump an email to buying customers as some times it's 3 to 6 hours before we get that notification. The other is make the specials and orders held in storage until the weight or volume hits an economic level to post out. That's what I have been doing. I'm ready to buy and sell this week keep it up

Its a hard one. Normally you have wholesalers sell in bulk and retailers sell smaller. Bullion now is kind of both. So its stackers vs shops competing for the same items. I dont know the answer. But i did buy 50 of those half ounce specials. Im happy to sell some for the same price i paid, to share the love🙂🙂🙂

Yes I did miss out on special offers most of the time. However, I rather you have competive margin and allow the free market on first come first serve basis. We accept economy of scale for you to keep price low for us and make a living. Sorry you cannot make everyone happy. So sad to see your sad face!!

Hi Michael, Thanks for your video and your special offers that not many dealers offer. I hope don't mind me to share my opinion that is just may help this situation. I noticed large amount of some of your stock gone before coming to your website and I'm talking about sharp 10am and some other offers. You may can limit order to 50 or 100 pics per customer according number of available stock, or publish it your website first and then publish it in KZfaq that may can be help. You are a single bullion dealer who I just purchase from and follow . Good luck

My nearest bullion dealers are 400 kilometres away , so i don't just pop into the dealer and buy 1 or 2 or 3 1oz silver coins . Every thing comes by post or courier . So if i am paying $25.00 ( not complaining about $25 for post and packaging) for delivery, its got to be economical for me. And as someone has already said, as far as limited quantity items are concerned,1st in best dressed .

Perhaps only release new items every fortnight or month instead as they come in, that way we can buy everything we want in one order instead of frequent orders.

I am sure u guys dont hedge small silver stuff like the libertads. Just do preorders or just make coins available for a few hours with a limit, spots not gonna drop that much in a few hours and ur system adjusts pricing with spot anyways. If u are making 3 per coin u can just put that into a shipping premium. Otherwise just make that one phone call and sell the stuff off to big flippers. Too much bullshit.

I know, I think you need to look after your good purchasers more. Ive been one your regularly purchasing clients in the past 12 months especally. When you put your sales on its first in, in the morning after u put a youtube vid up. Well I dont get up moving till late mornings because Im up working late. So by the time I see your youtube video its midday and then I go on your web site & you sold out. Why not have random hours on yours sales, when you put up a youtube vid. Do it in the evening at times so those who dont and cant see your videos at the times you aways do them, be random when you announce your sales. So we all have a chance to grab a deal. Everyone likes a deal once in a while. Its your timing of announcing your sales. To me you do them at the same times, can you announce at night once randomly? Anyway thats my rant too. BTW....DONT SHAVE OFF YOUR MOW IT LOOKS GOOD AND YOU LOOK HANDSOME...SERIOUSLY ITS LOOKS GOOD..HAHA

I understand limiting items to one isn’t profitable but maybe limiting items to a max of 20 - 50 per person for the first 24hrs on your site may work with certain items and will spread the love not just to resellers but investors and the wider base metals community And I’d love to be a member of the mailing / subscription list if it goes ahead so that I like many others have a chance to acquire some of the rare stuff that turns up or older buy back things like 90’s kookaburra coins or bars etc. so if it does go ahead please announce it on here at the same time as your other socials please because some of us don’t have Facebook or Twitter.

Hi, how about having two listings. One your regular listing with no limit on quantities with your regular margin and separate listing of say 20% of total quantity with one or two per order limit at a higher premium so that you make a decent profit in them.

Makes *perfect* sense. You should favor the big purchasers; it is much, much more efficient, economical and profitable to service a single order of hundreds of ounces. It's a waste of time and resources processing, packing, and shipping a single ounce of silver or gold. Frankly, you should implement minimum order sizes when shipping. If you want a single ounce, buy it in-store.

u guys do Bullion hedging, right? means that the dealer has offset their long positions with their short positions and vice versa. By doing this, the dealer is ensuring that they never have an overall long or short position. This helps the company be somewhat immune to price movements that gold, silver and platinum see on a day to day basis. i guess u guys does hedge against your inventories? then the rest of the actions to serve the customers are really up to you guys.

the issue isn't hedging nor buy price ... the issue is if there are too many small orders ... any profit is lost due to extra wages from the extra time spent processing more invoices and packing more orders ... so the only solution to that would be to ... raise the buy price on less than X number of coins ... to factor in extra wage costs ... it costs less to send a tube of 20 coins to 1 buyer ... than to send 1 coin to 20 buyers

When you get items of interest, offer the bulk of them for sale for big purchases so you turn a profit & keep an amount for smaller buyers at a restricted max purchase & minimum quantity per buyer. This should help cover most of the aspects you've mentioned. The bulk buyers get there chance to fill there needs & the smaller buyer gets a chance to meet there needs. This should give you a greater amount of satisfied customers. PS. You guys are doing a great job & provide fantastic, friendly service.

It needs to be a blend of first come and manage sales. You are comparing short term profits (good) vs growth (marketing) of the community. If you only manage the "special" coins as first come then you will alienate some in the community and they will go to another company. This is understandable since they will not be able to purchase the "special" coins.
