Starting a new segment of vehicles is never easy. BMW got a lot of pushback when it took the popular X5 crossover and created a less practical but sleeking looking #BMWX6 about a decade ago. Despite enthusiasts calling it an abomination, sales took off and #BMW has built nearly 500,000 units worldwide. For 2020, the #X6M50i gets the same redesign from the X5 but with a more unique looking rear end. Under the hood, the #X6 offers up to 523 HP from its twin-turbo 4.4L V8 and early next year, the 617 HP #X6M will be coming to America to do battle with the #Lamborghini #Urus.

idc what anyone says, an x6 will always look a million times better than an x5 in my eyes...every time you see one on the road it just looks so wide and meaty. Any everybody over exaggerates how much cargo capacity you’re losing, it really isn’t that much for how much of a change you’re getting

milo, and that’s the point that people can’t seem to understand. The X6 is a fashion statement. While the X5 blends in with the rest. The X6 buyer doesn’t want to look normal, and could care less about losing head room.

Love it! This rear styling look is the reason I bought my Eclipse Cross and the reason I liked the Pontiac Aztek, I like this sport back style on SUVs.

I've never been a fan of the exterior styling of an X6 but the driving dynamics is spot on. Firm but comfortable, quiet most of the time but rumbles when the pedal is pressed and it's duality as a comfortable vehicle plus a sporty vehicle makes this a great choice.

LOVE the X6! Mine is almost ready. Got this color, but coffee colored seats and the shadow line trim package with 22” wheels. I’ve owned the F-Pace, the GLE43 AMG and trading in my Q8 for this. Sportier outside than all the others, more refined, less noises and mote luxurious interior and finishes. Cannot wait!

The constant comparisons to the X5 made this review tough to watch. We get it. You hate coupe style SUV. There are thousands of people who love it. Review it for those people.

AJ Lee So why not just buy a hatchback or wagon then? It’s not like people off road these things anyway. On top of that, a hatch/ wagon will be cheaper and have a far lower maintenance cost. Not to mention better handling, practicality and fuel economy. These types of vehicles are nothing more than status symbols for image conscious people. These CUV’s are great at nothing and mediocre at everything.

vr6gls, once again, hatchbacks and wagons are not “in”. See that’s the thing that people don’t get. It’s not about price or practicality when it comes to the X6. It’s all about the design. This buyer wants to stand out from the crowd and I think that is what pisses people off, because they know just how much they spent to do so.

AJ Lee So, essentially you are paying more to get less. You are paying more for worse practicality and space, worse fuel economy, worse driving dynamics and higher maintenance cost. If that is “in” then I want no part of that stupidity. Also, how are you being “different” or “standing out” when everyone and their mother drives a CUV? You are just another sheep following the herd at that point. You would actually stand out far more if you drove a wagon. You wouldn’t be just another Karen, driving around in a mommy mobile crossover. 🙄

Had a X5. Does great in San Francisco. The X6 looks like it has less room compared to other competing SUV. We ended up buying an Audi SQ5 and love it!

I own a 2017 x6 and looked at x5 and went with x6 and have not regretted it one bit. This thing is a beast and it sits higher and to me rode better but when u hit sport mode in the x6 it’s game on baby!!! Lol

The X6 is still a really big car with way enough space for daily use. And it also looks way better compared to the X5. So less space and comfort is not an argument to dislike the X6. I only think the roofline needs to be a bit higher and the coupé line begins too soon to get down. It should look better and it gives more space in the back.

Yeah, the "impractical" is because they theorize picking up two potted plants and bringing them home in the hatch. I am on my third X6M and so happy I chose it. The headroom is better than any sports rivals like the MB, Audi, Porka or Lambo.

The rear seats should recline and they can increase the headroom but they let the car sloop too soon and too steep

Legit lift your arm and turn your wrist but gesture controls list your arm and swirl your arm like a ribbon makes no sense sometimes simplicity is the correct answer

It actually works pretty well in our M5, it’s especially convenient for the passenger to turn up the volume because there’s no need for the passenger to bend forward and reach for the knob.

This is an awesome vehicle.............Love It!! This gentleman states it's not as practical, but if you moving from a car with a trunk you won't find it less practical, unless if you are moving from a full size SUV then you may lilely feel the loss of space. I have witnessed a 6'2" man sitting in the back sit without touching his head on the ceiling.

I dont believe that. I own my m5 since 2015. Its at 180000km..only thing i change is brakes twice. Oil change and filter.....nothing else. Not even a control arm. Nothing. Sometimes i wonder if people who are actually saying these things own one. I send it to the dealer to fix the brakes and regular maintenance..half the people who complain cars are full of aftermarket parts

dj ochi my mother in law has owned 3 BMW’s. She purchased them new, kept them all stock, paid the ludicrous service fees fees at the dealership for all maintenance and has taken every single one back repeatedly for electronic problems that the techs could not figure out for weeks and sometimes months. If a manufacturers own techs cannot work on the cars they sell.... that says something about the brand!

@@beri232 i understand. But im saying not everyone has issues. 2nd... every single car forum i been in have people complaining. Its a man made thing. More electronics...more chances of problems. I had a brand new 2014 accord ( change two front shocks. Replace rear calipers, change brakes twice, rattling sounds, rubber around windshield torn, burn out led. All before it reach 18000km. My mom bought a 2018 rav 4. Rattling sound, battery, alternator, sensor, touch screen frozen, transmisson all at 25000km. List goes on. Every car has it isssue. My 2016 cadillac ctsv is at 120000km not one problem. Only oil change..guess im lucky with cars

Both are ultimately top notch vehicles. But I did like the X6 better for the styling so I bought that one and don’t regret it at all. M50i all the way.

If they raised the slop of the rear a little bit. Increase the length by an inch. Then the rear seat could recline and the rear passengers would have enough head and leg room to not feel like they are stuck in a Sardine can

My brother has the x6 m50 and I have the x5 m50, I like how mine looks, but the x6 grows on me, we both have aftermarket 22” wheels, front lip, diffuser, looks more aggressive.
