In germany the Audi A6 is the car when you think business. A large proportion of A6s are registered to companies here and have a reputation as the company car for well-paid managers, executives and senior staff. This is due to the fact that companies usually have few cooperations with car dealers and with cars of Volkswagen brands all salary classes and employees with entitlement to a company car can be covered.

I have the S6 2.9T . in our market it does come with lane assist that self steers. it also has a electric supercharger to avoid the turbo lag so I'm surprised at your comment about response time . I would consider the 550i but fuel consumption is much higher and prefer the tech and quality of the Audi as opposed to the E53. I really like the 2.9 TFSI these cars get in the overseas market. In Europe they are unfortunately only sold with a 3.0l TDI engine with a whole 100 less horsepower. The Diesel does not only have less power than the equivalent car in other markets, it literally has 100 less horsepower than the previous European market S6 as well. Even if the Diesel was even remotely able to match the 2.9 TFSI in performance (which it absolutely isn't, it's almost a second slower 0-60), the Diesel still wouldn't be the car to get. You buy an S6 because you care about the performance and the driving experience, which the Diesel just can't deliver. It doesn't feel special in any way despite having S6 badging all over the place, it looks and feels like some boring airport rental car and the Diesel exhaust note doesn't help in any way.

The v6 is definitely the low side of the S6, but I personally think I enjoyed this over the other German offerings in the segment. There’s just something rock solid and easy about an Audi sedan, simple and relaxed. I guess I just don’t look for high performance in a midsized or larger sedan, but I want passing power. The BMW is way too busy on the inside and the Merc just doesn’t feel as premium with its creaking interior trim pieces. I always thought I was a five-door type when it came to cars, thinking greater jack-of-all-trades utility, but between the A7/S7 and the A6/S6 I like the 6 best. It doesn't try to be everything. I think with the advent of SUVs and jacked wagons like the Allroad etc, that naturally excelled better at the actual utility part, I developed a new appreciation for traditional old school sedans that no longer have to "do it all." A friend has an SL, and he actually prides himself that he can't take an extra passenger when is sometimes asked.... it says you're wealthy enough that you can afford to just say "no"... and have strictly a toy for your own driving pleasure. Perhaps a bit of odd psychology but, you can't do what you can't do! Well, the sedan is sort of that way about stuff! When it comes to apartment moving duty: "Sorry, I can't..." 🙂 I'm not advocating for being a jerk to friends here, you help how you can, but sometimes there is an advantage to not owning a 'moving van' like virtually everybody has now, for everybody to assume...! That...and it's beautiful. I like it better than the sleek 7.

Long time audi driver here, I have a mildly tuned '16 S6 and absolutely feel as though its the best all-rounder I've ever driven. It's a stealth highway missel, proper tires in the Summer and it can manage most twisties without issues and conversely do a fantastic job in the mountains in Winter months. I put a large ski box on top for long road trips and combined with the large trunk can swallow allot of gear comfortably. I've driven several 1000+ mile stints and get out feeling relatively good. Its a 100lb.'s lighter than the S7 counterpart as well. The market is wide open for them so good buys can be had.

I see the S6 every now and then here in Germany, but i definitely see more RS6 Models, so definitely doesn't seem too popular, though its a great Car. That might be because i'm in Germany and Audi S and RS Models are absolutely everywhere in general anyway. The S6 is definitely subtle though! When i see the S6 it's usually some older Man driving it, while the S5 which looks less subtle is mostly driven by younger People. That said, i didn't even know the S6 available in the USA, aren't there several Audi S Models that aren't even sold in the US, only some RS Models? Prost & Cheers from Germany

Manufactured since 1972, the 5 Series is the second best-selling BMW ever with over 7 million sales globally so far. In February 2017 the 7th generation production began. In second place ranks the Mercedes E Class, which sold 64,499 units (-11.3%). Starting with the new naming strategy applied by Mercedes in the early ’90s, the model began production in 1993 and is actually at its 5th generation (since 2016). The same reason Porsche and all the other luxury carmakers nickel and dime you for stuff that's standard on a base model Honda. They know you're not cross-shopping this with a Honda.
