In NYC (specifically Manhattan and Brooklyn) I’ve seen this exact setup before. A small pizzeria with a street entrance, as well as access from an adjoining club or bar, via a pickup window or even full-on walk in. There is 100% hundreds of actual eateries and even residential buildings with rooftop gardens, either strictly for gardening, or to source fresh ingredients as well. This entire new modular really screams NYC to me.

I think the lack of seating area for the pizzaria is a cultural thing. Here in Denmark it would be the outlier rather than the norm to have seating instead of just take away. There might be a small counter with some barstools while you wait, but no more than that. I like the idea of the green house on top, makes it seem more high-end which could justify it being next to a jazz club.

There's a few pizzerias downtown that are just for ordering. They have dining tables outside but the space between the entrance and the desk before getting to the kitchen is not much. A bigger one would've been ideal but it's not inaccurate.

This is pretty accurate to pizzerias that I've seen in larger cities. It's more of a takeaway spot than a sit-down dining area.

The leaks really misled people into thinking the pizzeria was gonna be a bigger part of the set than it really was. The jazz club was always the main focus of the set and not every pizzeria had a big dining space. A lot of places mostly only offer takeout options.

The pizza and jazz club connecting from the inside isn’t weird for me, because I went on a road trip once and the interior of a mini casino was attached to a gas station, a McDonald’s, and a Carl’s Jr.

I think this might be a case of just2highexpextations, however I do agree with the pricing. If it was priced lower I’d say this is an incredible set

I think it looks great and decently well made. Yes, it is way too expensive, but still a fine build.

The thing about the tailor I guess it's the idea of some modulars, to fit plenty of scenarios that didn't managed to be on the spotlight of the set, like the Pizzeria or the toy shop, from an older modular if I remember. And that's ok, we get variety, I'm fine with that. But the smell of pizza on the jazz concert really got me thinking. Like, what was the trouble in adding two sliding doors, so people at the show could be served? Like, how kitchens are separated from the main area in restaurants! But in the end, it all looks so fitting and charming, matches pretty well with the modulars at the back. It gives a different feel from what other modulars were before, maybe something more...vintage-y? I dunno. I'd get if I had the money, and could wait for a discount. The Police station pricing is a good point.

The greenhouse is there to imply that they grow the ingredients for their pizzas. It’s part of the storytelling of this set.

I can't wait for this set to go on "sale" for it's normal price for $200 on Amazon..

The exterior is the what brings the set down for me. Just comparing it to recent modulars yeah, it's good but it doesn't blow me away or make me just wanna sit there and admire all the cool and unique ways they've used obscure pieces like the wolf head, feathers or bionical hands. All they've done is but two mudguard pieces for a car on the roof but it's not exactly a new thing. The interior is alright and the fact they managed to fit in a bathroom was amazing, just annoys me they managed to fit a toilet in here but couldn't put one on the townhouse or appartment from birch books

The only think i don't like of this set is that there is no apartment.I would love to see an entire modular only for houses and apartments.

The interior of the Jazz Club is smaller and more cramped than I'd like. I wanted the stage to be a bit larger rather than as a corner stage, mostly because I wanted to display larger bands (with up to six or seven band mates with their instruments) on said stage and the corner stage doesn't cut it. I don't mind the pizzeria being small since a lot of the good ones tend to be very small hole in the wall places. The exteriors look very nice.

This video is ENTIRELY Justin acting smug and asking “have you ever seen [incredibly normal thing]?” Like… have you been to any city? This is a perfectly usual setup.

Wait for the GWP. That will help justify the price. I like the central stairway with access to both buildings. Much better than the fire-escape access of most other modulars. Also love the greenhouse. That's a great addition to an otherwise bland roof. The tailor has some nice little features. Especially the sewing machine. Also love the Jazz Club signage and the stage. The manager's office could've been presented in a clearer manner but it's fine. The toilet under the stairs is a great detail as well. It may not be one of the best modulars, but it's definitely not one of the worst either. I'd say above average.

There is a purple sign out front advertising a tailor, with a separate entrance and staircase leading to the business. So not an apartment, not part of the jazz club. Separate business.

I actually do know of a pizza place that has a garden on the roof for fresh produce.

There is supposedly a pizza van GWP similar to the taxi from this year, shame its limited but should go nicely alongside this set.

So glad you caught the bathroom on the second pass, as I noticed it almost right away, and was thinking wait what? Mostly a Jazz club I guess, and lack of Pizzeria on the inside is kind of disappointing. Exterior though is what's mostly on display though, and overall looks pretty great. Favorite Pizza truck for me I think is the hilariously undersized truck that came in the TMNT Shellraiser set. A real fun departure from what most city food trucks look like.

Your opinion on this is just2TRASH. Musical buildings/culture is one Lego’s least explored tropes. The Downtown Diner had a recording studio booth, and I love that we now have an “in universe” LEGO music venue, especially for the modular line.

Got this one day one, personally love it. I go to jazz clubs myself in Chicago and San Fran and it is totally normal to have a restaurant with no seating next door like that. Other patrons can walk out with a pizza, while people who pay for the show can get pizza. They nailed it imo, looks way better in person, as does most lego

I mean diner and a show is a thing.....you get a slice of pizza, some drinks and a good show. I'm not sure how that detracts from the show....

Top floor isnt an apartment. So dont know why there would be a bed. The green house is for fresh ingredients for the pizzas, pretty cool imo

The entryway behind the two is bizarre. I think it's a step down from the Boutique Hotel, feeks like they've crammed too much into one modular, so you get a lot of businesses but none of them are done properly.

I feel these hole in the wall venues with connecting food is accurate to the aesthetic, unique for Modulars and also fun? I dunno why people are so hung up on this being ‘too colourful’? It’s a jazz bar and pizzeria!! They are meant to be fun and appealing?

As someone who doesn't collect any of the other modulars, this one I feel compelled to get, problems aside.

I like the rooftop greenhouse, I've got no problem with the lack of seating at the pizzeria. About the only thing I wish they'd done is make it so this was a split set, but it still looks great to me.

I read somewhere that the double bass piece was originally meant for a Vidiyo set, but it didn't happen so this is it's first outting! It might be a bit empty inside but I love this set, especially the jazz musicians

You were mistaken by the 'leaks'. This set clearly never had a major 'pizzeria' build. It was clearly a Jazz club with a small extra build of a pizzeria. Have you ever thought that all these businesses are tied together? IE the owner of the Jazz club also own the pizzeria. And that's the reason of the connection between them, ie its the kitchen for the Jazz Club? This would also explain why there is no inside seating in the pizzeria, because the inside seating is supposed to be the Jazz club. The pizzeria has another entrance so you can do like an 'online' order pickup that many restaurants have these days or delivery with the moped. You are absolutely being just2hard...

Very similar to a shop at a theme park I go to the pizzeria is in the building but the only seating is infront of the stage to watch the magic show.

They definitely could’ve done a better job.. I don’t really love that it’s a jazz club but overall it’s alright

I personally love this set, they can’t do a bar for the adjoining building for the club, so a pizzeria is a great kid-friendly choice.

I still need to understand these building that are actually one but look like multiple by its façade, like the Detective's Office which was the first. Ok it could be the lack of space that time, but this new Jazz Club (and Pizzeria) could be 2 separate buildings easily. The good side of it: its size is perfect to fit the gap left by the Assembly Square. 😉

I have issues with modulars. First of all price, sevond of all, I wanna get in there with my hand, but the modular spaces are so small, you can barely get in there lol

I dunno- I like the concepts Lego went with, but it was just executed horribly. Both buildings are too square for my liking

Isn't that taylor's torso the same as the guy with flowers from the Bookshop modular? Seems weird to reuse a print from a couple of years ago, especially from the same theme. Unless that's sort of a uniform and they actually both work at the same shop. I guess we'll have to wait for the designer video

Idk the pizzaria not having seating is pretty common at least here in Toronto Ontario, most places are just walk in pick up and leave maybe they have one or two barstools by the window but nothing fancy unless you go to a big chain place like pizza pizza (but the smaller places tend to have better pizza). Also the pizza shop having an entrance into the jazz club doesn't seem that odd to me we see that a lot here too with shops like indigo being connected with Starbucks or smaller restaurants being connected to concert and performance halls. Just the other day my sister did a cello performance at a place that had a small pierogi restaurant that connected to it. Just cause the pizza place is small doesn't mean it's not really good pizza. Maybe it serves as a good food option for the audience to pick up quickly on their way or at the show. Also the greenhouse I think is supposed to be related to the pizza place as a source for fresh vegetable toppings. I agree the tailors doesn't make much sense but everything else seems fine to me

Trombone player here who loves jazz and also sews from time to time (and lover of pizza) i think this is a lovely set and the colors of the building is really nice but like you said 230 is a bit pricey but for me its worth it!!

I do get what you mean, maybe if the pizzeria was made to better flow with the look of the Jazz club's design, red walls inside instead of yellow, or even a dark green?

Great video! Agree that it would have been nice to have more interior details and a second floor dining area for the pizzeria. Love the exterior and mini figs, love the jazz club but agree a fairly random choice of other rooms is a bit odd. Will still pick it up ... but when on discount as its very pricey. One thing - why were you so excited about the toilet? There is one in the corner garage so didnt think that was particularly novel unless I am missing something??

Why do people want bathrooms? They take up space in the set, it's put in here because there's just space under the stairs that they weren't using.

Conceptually it could make sense to have some type of Italian food kitchen in a jazz club, but when they left the entrance open they should have made the pizza interior match the tone of the club.

For me, this Jazz Club has the same problem as MANY Lego modulars: it’s TOO SMALL. “The Palace Cinema” only had SIX seats. “The Detective Office” had a pool hall with ONE pool table. “The Book Store” had a counter and ONE bookshelf, etcetera. Now we’ve got a “Jazz Club” that barely seats six. “sigh” I understand. Lego has a price-point. Though these mini-building attachments nibble away at the valuable space. Am I the only one who would have preferred a full-sized Jazz Club (taking up the entire building “footprint”)? And a separate set with a full-sized Pizzeria?

The inside just feels so simple, like I made it. And I'm not that good. The jazz singer minifig is stunning and the diamond of this set. If I do get it, I'm going to move the entrance to the jazz club to the left side, give it a more speakeasy vibe. Move the show space to the second floor. Turn the tailor into an extended dance/show area for the jazz club (tailor woudn't be above a pizza place anyway because the smell would permeate all the fabric and anything you make would smell like a Papa Johns). Turn the first floor into a check in lobby for a cheap hotel that rents rooms above the jazz club floor like in a 40's crime noir movie. The greenhouse would be gone in favor of some outdoor patio space or something. I wish it was closer to 150 but understand lego is just more expensive nowadays.

They should have just gone with the Jazz Club and left off the pizza place. I would rather see one business done well instead of trying to do a ton of different crappy businesses. They could do a second floor balcony seating, and have the area to the side be a dressing room. They could do a pizza place with an arcade as a separate build.

There is a bathroom surprisingly, it's on the bottom floor in the Jazz Club that connects to the main part of the pizzeria in one video you'll actually see it. I thought there wasn't going to be a bathroom either, however he definitely no bedroom it seems

The Marquis theater in Denver connects to the pizza place up front, and there is also 2-fisted Mario's that connects to Double Daughters on the inside. I think it's something that happens.

I heard the designer say the tailor shop is for the acts to adjust their clothing before they perform, and the greenhouse is for the pizzeria to make its own tomato sauce.

I have a bookshop in my town that’s connected to a coffee shop even tho they’re completely businesses, they’re connected, so the connection between the two buildings is kinda normal to me xP

The interiors on this set are not that bad, in my personal opinion. What I don't like is the fact that the details outside look somewhat unbalanced to me. Some things are lacking details while others are over-detailed. I think they should have created a Jazz sign made of bricks instead of prints, just like the pool at Detective's Office. Meanwhile, the windows feel too much detailed and also they don't match the color scheme of the red bricks very well. They also could have been more generous with the pizzaria in terms of size also. It really feels too tiny and lessening the budget. In the Police Office it was ok the side building, but this one in particular not so much.

Restaurants/pizzerias open to adjacent venues/clubs is a fairly normal thing, I've seen it a few times. It means the venue doesn't need a restaurant license but is still able to offer food, and the pizzeria has access to additional clientele, win-win

Like many other people it seems, I've had a very lukewarm response to this one without really being able to figure out why. I think it unfortunately lacks the unique shaping or detailing with tiny pieces that modern modulars can afford, but it also lacks the "grandness" or scale characteristic of the older modular buildings.

The Pizzeria should have been the focus, maybe even getting it's own building. They are EVERYWHERE !!! And people can easily relate to them. I've never been to Jazz Club before so i'm not all that interested in having one in my city. Zero emotional attachment. Total missed opportunity here.

The pizzeria in the town center set (60292) also has a garden on the roof. It's not a greenhouse, but close. So, I wasn't surprised they introduced this to a new set with more detailing. I'm also not a fan of the lack of detailing in the pizzeria. Give me an Italian flag....something. It's kind of bland. I do like the tailor shop, though. The more shops the better.

I think it's a pretty good modular overall. But there doesn't seem to be much of a variety of toppings for the pizzas, I wish there were more pizza slices. And I just realized that it's a little weird that there's nothing separating the pizzeria from the show, a couple of doors would have been a solution. But what I actually find really annoying is that it is a freaking jazz club but there's not a single black guy playing jazz, WHY? And where's the guy who plays that saxophone? And why is there no clarinet in the set?

This is a pretty common layout for a pizzeria. I am so confused by what was expected here. These modulars have always represented a certain type building in downtown city areas. Its really rare to have some large sit down area for most pizza places outside of like mid 90s strip mall Pizza Huts in suburbia. I am exaggerating but the takeout pizza place with maybe a simple table or two outside is the much more common layout for a pizza place in most places and this feels like something you would see in New York City, Europe, etc. This feels like precisely the place next to a bar (jazz club) or some other place of entertainment you would come out of on the go and hop in line to have a slice of pizza.

tbh they tried cramming to much into the space. I would have ditched two different buildings and extended out the back so you could have a center stage with more area for more bandmates and with room for more seating, the pizzeria would be in the corner with a street window too.

The smell of the pizza is going to take away from the music? Combining the smell of pizza with the sound of jazz sounds like heaven to me. I bought this set Day One or shortly thereafter and I love it. I totally agree with you on the scooter, as I love that piece and wasn't aware that it was a new color.

If there's one thing that's really put me off modulars in recent years it's how they abandoned the classic :) facees. Now they feel more "generic modern lego" than "modern classic".
