I have the 2023 gsx S1000 in black. What an amazing machine! Love this bike! The gsx has the lcd screen but not a deal breaker. Not overly tech like others in the class. I wanted a reliable motor, simple tech and something quick and this bike does all 3 very well. The power is in the mid to upper rpm’s and screams to life around 7k. No complaints and you’ll definitely be happy with this bike and the price allows you to add your custom parts at will. Excellence by Suzuki as always!

That's the thing I don't like about these four cylinders I wish they had power down low even my GSXR Hayabusa sure it fast but it sucks down low doesn't have that instant power everywhere I guess that's the nature of the four-cylinder engine too bad that can't make a V-Twin 4 cylinder combined as one.

I just bought one of these last week - only a couple hundred miles on it so far, but I'm thoroughly impressed thus far. It's my second bike (first was a 650 V-Strom), so I'm definitely enjoying and acclimating to the massive difference in engine performance, but I've found that B mode is a great "in between" mode that's very manageable and polite. Love this bike so far!

Ben Akers, I am also considering to change my 650 v-strom for the gsxs1000gt. From your experience, did you loose much confort for the rider and for the pillion since the seat seams to be harder, there is no top box and the legs will be more bended?

@ToxicDover

@@ricardoabmartins As far as the rider triangle goes, it's a little bit more aggressive than the V-Strom (legs are a bit more bent and you're slightly leaned forward on the GT), but that hasn't been bothering me so far. As far as the seat, it's firmer, but comfort wise on par with the V-Strom. I wasn't a fan of the 650's seat, and this one is similarly less and less comfortable after a couple of hours on the bike. I'll likely replace the GT's seat with a Corbin or something similar here soon. The pillion seat is definitely smaller on the GT - that's something you may want to check with any regular passengers you take haha.

I’ve got the Suzuki GSX-S 1000GT and am on my 3rd year of ownership. Coming from sports bikes and enjoy touring across Europe, below are my thoughts on this bike: Good points - Looks, rawness, clear display, gearbox is the smoothest I’ve ever experienced, surprisingly comfortable, touring ability, massive panniers, agile in the twisties, and 150+ mile tank range. Bad points - Front brake is naff (master cylinder at fault), OEM tyres are woeful (upgrade to Michelin Pilot Road 6 for the wet riding in UK), rear suspension is wallowy in long fast bends, and numb fingers from vibrations during long tours.

Thanks for another great video. For me, I don't mind a soft start to brake bite - it gives me time to dictate more precisely how much brake force I apply in any given moment, particularly when I brake in alarm mid corner. Yes, I appreciate braking mid-corner is not a great plan, but sometimes it's a necessity and when it happens a softer initial bite can keep me from dropping the front end. True if I was better rider, it would less of an issue. Love your work.

Stock screen is not adjustable, I sourced the taller touring screen from Suzuki USA, about $175, makes a big difference for us taller riders. The mirrors also work as hand wind protectors and work very well when set, good sight lines on either side without getting arms in the way. Like many others, I swapped out the brake pads as well, tires are next, got about 7000 miles out of the stock Dunlop RoadSport2 tires, considering Michelin Road6. Also, the riding mode can't be changed unless you're stationary, can't be changed on the fly. Seat took a bit a bit of breaking in, very comfortable. Got the bags at purchase, after purchase it's about another $1000 without labor. The LED headlights are super bright and work well once pointed correctly, easy to adjust with an 8mm socket just behind in the front cowl. Loving the bike, got mine last July, looking forward to many more miles, got heated grip wraps for the past few months for $30, taking them off this month (Colorado) as it gets warmer, saved about $400. HUGE value for money, has looks, style, power and comfort for $14K.

Question? Did changing the brake pads help? I was thinking about putting steel braided lines but if pads work, I would try that first I am hopping the seat gets better because I don't find it not too comfortable. How many miles did it take to get better. I have had no problems changing ride modes while riding. It is kinda hard with gloves on but I have done it on tight roads. Man, I only have 1700 miles on mine, and it needs a new rear tire. Sorry to ask so many questions but you seem to have more experience on this bike then most. Thanx for any info you can post.

@@mikeglick3507 Hey there, in the end, my goal with swapping pads was to achieve more balanced braking front and rear, it just seemed like the rear was just weak. I swapped out with EBC pads, and adjusted the rear brake pedal travel, and have seen a real improvement in feel and performance. As for the seat, I'm looking into an aftermarket solution, went for a 200 mile round trip ride today and found that my butt was just sore, could be just my narrow Japanese ass 😆Corbin makes a premium saddle, a one piece pilot/pillion for around $600, but I think I'll just look for a seat pad.

Excellent review. The Suzuki has a classic four-cylinder motor which the Japanese four-cylinder motors stock are absolutely butter smooth powerhouses. The Yamaha Tracer has a three-cylinder motor which that engine has a huge amount of personality. Torquey and just little more wild hair then the Suzuki. Definitely two different engine personalities on each bike but each great to those who appreciate them. If I was looking for a bike to ride all day long, long distances and really enjoy a butter smooth power delivery and ride I would get the Suzuki. If I was looking for a part time Hooligan mobile, to run it up some time, but still be able to ride long distances in comfort, I would get the Yamaha Tracer. You would never lack any power to do anything you wanted to on either bike. And both, if maintained, are extremely well built, reliable rides.

Great bike. Rode it yesterday. Good points in the review. Brakes are good but not instant. Great and smooth power. Butter smooth quick shifter and naked bike riding position. Seat is pretty comfy and height is good. It is bit bulkier in the front and with windshield it looks like a sport-tourer, BUT when on it, it is like a super-naked. Well priced too. Great bike all around, and I agree on the Yamaha 9GT which I rode for a few days. This is a lot smoother and more powerful bike. I would pick this over 9GT any day.

Hi, how are you getting on with the GSX-S 1000 GT? How do you like it compared to your V-Strom? I'm in the same shoe, I currently have a 2019 V-Strom 1000 but I'm fancying a change - I only ever had adventure type of bikes with v-twins, so I wouldn't mind trying a more road oriented, inline 4 engined bike. The GSX-S 1000 GT is on top of my list for now, but I'm concerned about comfort, sitting position etc.

@@oncsaba I love the GT BUT my wife prefers the V-Strom seat over the GT. The GT pushes her forward as it is angled slightly forward and no grip like the V-Stroms seat (on the sides). I'm looking for options on how make it more grippy without ugly tape or something... Two total different beats though... The GT is quick & fast! Flick of the wrist and the thing launches at any speed... nothing that is unmanageable of course, especially with the three riding modes... I leave it in A mode traction control 2 for most street riding and sometimes on long highway trips and wife on B mode, traction control 3. Very comfortable but of course not as comfy as the V-Strom. Legs are definitely more on the bent, race orientation but you get used to it fast. Hope this helps!

Have done like 2500 miles on my GSXS1000GT. Really good bike. I swapped the brake pads so now there is more initial bite. The engine is strong and nice, 0-200 km/h in 8,6 sec, more than enough for most of us. Comfy without beeing to heavy (226kg). If you are too old or too tall for a sportbike this is a good compromise.

A center stand is always nice for a touring bike, so chain maintenance on the road can be performed with ease.

I bought a demo with 46 miles on it. I got it for $14,700 out the door with bags. If you live in So Cal visit Van Nuys Suzuki, they are awesome. At first, coming from sport bikes for 37 years I thought I made a mistake. I took it for a 210-mile ride today. All twisties and super fast sweepers. This thing says sport touring bike but that is a lie. This thing is a monster. Even in a super tight 16 mile canyon it killed it! Good things. It looks super cool! The engine, chassis, suspension, dash, quick shifter are awesome. The seat could be better for a touring bike. Things that are not so good. The breaks are fine for touring but for what I did today they need work. Perhaps steel braided lines would help. Also, I adjusted the clutch lever to a position I like but it is weird. I seems to snag sometimes when shifting. Finally aftermarket parts like sliders are hard to find. I paid way too much for a set of really nice slider from New Zealand (Vital) shipping alone was $68 (they are sweet check them out). All in all after today's ride I would but this bike again.

Power is Significantly higher and pannier rider sits just as good as on a 9GT but for the driver stability is So much better on the Suzuki. It together with the Ninja will probably be our travel bike. Nothing is however better than my Speed Twin 1200… the sound is to die for and looks are just perfect. @@ruslangelaev I was coming from a honda crf250l so the extra 30hp on the suzuki seemed like it could have been a bit much. Was also interested in the mt09sp but inventory on those is very limited. Kind of fell in love with the sound of the CP3 as well. Then I got to thinking about the idea of longer distance riding so started looking into the sport touring models. Tracer seemed a bit more setup for touring vs the suzuki. Things like seating position, heated grips as standard on the tracer, better mpg(dont wanna have fuel stops dictating when to take a break). I guess I should mention the tracer I got was discounted by $1200 so it put the price the same as the gt+ suzuki. Which did play some part into the decision. Tracer seat is not super comfortable and the windscreen is not great for taller(6ft+) riders. Aftermarket parts can fix or minimize those issues though. Hope some of this info helps.

The Suzuki is geared a lot shorter, I can tell you that. Engine always seems busy especially at highway speeds. Doesn't have the remote preload adjuster on the rear shock like the ninja, doesn't have the 6 axis abs like the Ninja. Ninja has better screen adjustability that needs no tools. The Suzuki more HP, but the short gearing means pretty much same top speed as the Ninja. Suzuki better looking bike than the Ninja, but the Ninja has been out for a while now and is the better bike. Just my opinions folks.

I test rode both. IMO the SX is a more refined, boring version of the GT. It’s also more cramped. GT has a much better gear box/QS, is quicker and better looking.

I've got a '22 GT+ and you're on the money with your title... the bike is far more sport than touring. I think Suzuki dropped the ball a bit by not gearing the GT for lower rpms at highway speeds in comparison to the other GSX-S1000s (and Katana) as the engine is anything but relaxing when you're just trying to munch miles. Too many revs, too much vibration. Get on a twisty road though and the streetfighter bones definitely entertain, but then you really don't need a bike with hardbags and a touring screen for that kind of riding. Speaking of the touring screen, it's terrible. So much buffeting on my helmet that it gives me a headache (I'm 6'1") after a couple of hours... I'd much rather the stock low screen and just take the full wind blast face-on but I didn't get one with the bike. Good value for money as most Suzukis are, but if you're looking for a cheap Goldwing alternative for IronButt riding, this probably isn't the bike for you.

The Yamaha Tracer 9 weighs considerably less which to me makes it MORE not less sport capable I mean it has slightly less horsepower but I swear it keeps up with much more powerful motorcycles UNLESS maybe you get our on open straight highway for top speed runs which frankly I have zero intrest in doing over 110ish on the limited straight sections of popular twisty roads ....really most sane people back off as it is kinda nice to stay out of jail ya know?

man, I generally like Your channel, but wish You would actually do those reviews properly - You're prasing windishield protection while going 50mph, praising comfort while barely sat on a bike for a couple of mins.... how about riding it on a highway for a 1,5 hrs going 80 mph and then talk about wind protection and comfort... how about going for a twistie and then talk about bike handling and brakes....cause I am sure it is way less comfy than tracer with upright position and bigger screen when we talk longer touring... You're really kinda misleading people with these short rides a bit. I get You wanna be nice since probably dealer guys are giving You a favor or something, but being more objective and proper in those reviews would be way more beneficial and would go a long way with us viewers that are considering such bikes....
