The 2023 Toyota Prius Limited Is Proof That Toyota Can Build A Cool Hybrid Vehicle

The #ToyotaPrius has achieved what no other hybrid car has achieved. It went from a dorky, slow, cheap feeling car, to a sleek, sophisticated, and sporty vehicle that just happens to also be a hybrid. While the old #Prius put function first, #Toyota has given the redesigned model a new mission, making a #PriusHybrid more desirable first. Add in the increased power and available AWD with up to 57 MPG and this is quite literally the perfect commuter car for most people.

The good thing about this car is when the battery is old you can get another one for about $2k. With a BEV you're looking at $15k+ easily.
@ImHereForIt124
@ImHereForIt124 Жыл бұрын
Not saying you’re wrong, but I would be extremely surprised if you could change the lithium battery in this Prius for $2k. And excluding recalls, only 1.5% of BEVs have had their batteries replaced at all. Granted this could be because of the exorbitant costs, or, also as likely the reliability of those batteries. I would put my hard earned money in a Tesla no doubt though this is a huge looks and performance improvement in the Prius.

This proves that the 2016 Chevrolet Volt was way ahead of its time. That had slightly less gasoline only fuel economy but EV only range was above 50 miles. I used to consistently get close to 60 miles of pure EV range in my 2017 Volt. It is a shame that more people didn't take it up, and consequently got canceled in favor of awful SUVs.

Thanks for the excellent review! With the inability in today's age of being able to stop by a dealer and take a car like this for a test drive, it is much appreciated and very informative. All of the Prius models where I live are pre-sold (or "reserved"), meaning they are unavailable for test drives. I reserved my own Guardian Gray Limited AWD and can't wait to get my hands on it. Huge improvement over my previous 2014 Prius Plug-in and 2017 Prius Prime. Thanks again!

My main concern is viewing the speedometer since it is now in the middle and behind the steering wheel and the amount of space inside the car. I currently drive a 2014 Prius and I have plenty of space to stretch out my arms. I'm 6'3" and comfortable in that car, but I have some concerns about the 2023 model since they lowered the ceiling. Are there any tall people here that can provide some feedback on the interior?

My only problems with the design on these cars was the black trim above the wheels, which gives it a huge wheel gap look and the huge distance between the driver display and steering wheel. I’m old & can hardly see the instruments/symbols on that display at that distance. Also, I’m over 6’ tall, so the driving position is not comfortable for me. Other than that, bravo Toyota.

I have owned the new 2023 for the last few weeks. Has much more pickup than any previous versions. The car has a much smaller trunk. If you need to put a walker or wheelchair in the back, you must take down both back seats. You can’t change out any of the lights on the inside for aftermarket; they all use a circuit-style light. The dome and reading lights in front aren’t that bright. The car looks very sporty inside and out. If you are six feet or taller, watch your head getting in and out; the ceiling is cut significantly lower than in previous generations. The main car battery is back in the trunk, which is more accessible. The car has no spare tire, so if you buy one, you lose a lot more of your trunk. The vehicle makes a cool noise when driving slowly through parking lots, more of a head-turner for people. I do like the lock and unlock noise from the car; it’s new and sounds great. You can turn on your vehicle and off from an app. Car has built-in Wi-Fi from AT&T, not as fast as Verizon, but the connection has not been an issue as the connection is stable everywhere. Also, in the app, you can see the health of your car, see if your doors are unlocked, and lock them. I wish the app would let you roll windows up and down. The car is ultra quiet on roads and freeways. This is the fifth Prius I have owned; they have never broken down. I have never taken any of my Prius previously to a shop for any repairs and that’s with the cars having over 300k in miles. ~Chad James

Looks like Toyota did that front bumper plate mount for international markets-it’s not even the shape of a U.S./Canadian license plate-looks more like the shape of a European/Japanese license plate. Injection molding tooling is very expensive for a big part like that, and I bet they just optimized it for where their big markets will be rather than a portion of the US that (for some reason) doesn’t require front plates.

I still haven’t found a sedan that beats my ‘18 Honda Clarity. I got 984 miles from my last gas tank (7gal.). I must say, however, that this is really attractive.

That horn sounds like a bunny fart. Cmon Toyota change it out for a Camry horn. Super sexy design tho. I can't believe I"m saying that about a Prius.

Yes, Toyota should reward dealers who are not marking up prices by sending them more inventory.

Annoying they don’t have smaller wheels with cushiony tires. I hate this fad of putting oversized wheels and thin tires. Remember.. it’s a Prius. Stop the sporty look. Same with the Corolla (non GR). Thin tired over aggressive look. Slow.
