Wow, Genesis pricing has become quite ambitious. I believe when he last tested this it topped out around $75000. At that price it's tough to beat. At $85000 an air suspension should be present as well as some more features(massage for both, and better graphics wouldn't hurt). I still would take this over it's competitors although the mid trim seems more appealing than the top trim.

This vehicle isn’t appealing anyway the design is a mess. Interior is fit for old Asian folks and exterior looks bland and unfinished. Also hate the way it leans backwards like it’s too heavy in the rear - same affect as the Aviator. They look back heavy and weight seems off. Then they cheap out with features like massage seats, or lack thereof because the massage is basic as hell for the driver and the passenger doesn’t even get the basic massage even on top trim. Once you think about it you see why it’s not the sales success every Hyundai fan claimed it would be.

When you were doing the highway driving, did you reset the mpg? I ask because i made that mistake when I got the MDX last year. I thought my highway mpg was extremely crappy because I was seeing 19 or 20mpg. Then one day i was going on a road trip and so I checked and realized that the mpg could be reset. I did that and shockingly I averaged 28mpg over a 300 mile road trip. So it could be that your low average on the GV80 is due to the fact it was still factoring the averages from city driving.

I didn’t know the headlights were swiveling and auto adjust. I had a X3 M and when I steered you can see the headlights move in the direction of the turn. I did not see this with the GV80 is this only for the matte colors?

I bought a 2021 V6 twin turbo when it first came out. It is a great well thought out car for being totally new design. The problem for Genesis is their lack of dealers. They should make that a priority.

If I'm not mistaken, the outboard seats in the 2nd row have a massage function. At least it did in the showroom model in the same matte green at my local dealer although that was a 3-row.

The only thing I don't like with this Genesis is the sound system. For some reason, the volume needs to be above 35 just for a normal listening experience with decent bass. Everything else about the vehicle is great

Had a 2022 GV70 3.5t for 30k, then traded into a 2023 G80 2.5t Sport Prestige for 22k and went to get a 2024 GV80 2.5 Prestige (work vehicles) but a funny thing happened after testing the GV80. I absolutely hated the seat so you are spot on about the comfort. The problem was 10 minutes before I test drove the GV80 I tested a Acura 2024 MDX Advanced and couldn’t get over how awesome the seat was! A six hour day in the saddle isn’t uncommon for me so comfort is HUGE importance. Love my Genesis products both were bulletproof and zero issues but my MDX…I chose wisely.

This is the first SUV I'd consider. I'm not an SUV guy. But if I were to get one, it would be for the practical reasons. The size, the room, and the comfort. I'm not interested in an SUV that can do 0 to 60 and 3 seconds. I've got something 4 ft closer to the ground for that lol. If I were to finally cave in and get one, this would be the one.

Hyundai/Kia/Genesis are currently working on a 2.5t hybrid powertrain for the next generation of vehicles due to the fickle EV market. I know the Koreans are big on delivering high quality vehicles at lower cost by sharing cost via all 3 brands, but I have to wonder if the next gen Palisade/Telluride will be RWD to ease the cost on the next gen G80 hybrid? Something to think about.

Going RWD would mean a lot of space in the back, especially 3rd rpw would be lost due to the driveshaft. The CX-90 loses a lot of space compared to the Grand Highlander due to that. I think only Genesis should be RWD. The Palisade and Telluride are meant to be large and spacious family SUVs.

For that price you need to include air suspension or magnetic ride suspension. Also, no wireless carplay and android auto in 2024? Disappointing. At 85k, this thing needs to have everything. The lincoln aviator is priced similarly for a fully kitted reserve trim and it has everything under the sun

Nice truck but I am always impressed of how good BMW’s b58 inline 6 in the X5 is. The X5 is slightly faster with just 334hp and gets better fuel economy than this. Powertrain is where the Germans have the Koreans.

Really like almost everything about this vehicle...even the fact that it only seats 4 and has more storage in the back. But I really do hate the steering wheel design. Should put their three spoke wheel in there. Would also like to see the screen better integrated into the dash...not a fan of the stuck on screen in any vehicles. But that's just my opinion.

Never been a fan of the Genesis look, although the coupe does look nice even though it defeats the purpose of an SUV by lowering the head and cargo room. It is unique in that its the only SUV in its class that offer Captain's chair without a 3rd row. However, the fact that it still has legacy USB A ports is a clear oversight for a car of this class.

Unpopular opinion: the design did not age well and the interior looks fitting for an old couple and pretty underwhelming and tech feels gimmicky instead of intuitive. When they get their own design and identity they may be onto something better.

Acura has air suspension, 25 speaker sound system, auto walk away lock and auto close tailgate, has wireless CarPlay and android auto, the only thing GV80 beats MDX is the touch screen, but the 2025 MDX will come with touch screen just in time to completely wipe out GV80.

Other than reliability buy a fully loaded Toyota, Genesis is actually making top notch models g90 a worthy contender to the s class unlike that LS that nobody buys. Lol Lexus shares all its parts with Toyota and only has better materials and NVH. Genesis does not. They are closer to Germans and a class above Lexus and Acura.

But they're cheaper so people that can't afford a Lexus, let alone a German brand have to convince themselves that their car is equal or better but it's not. At least not today. Someday that may change but Genesis still has a ways to go but hey they're cheap for a reason and that's good!
