#Toyota may have been late to the party with a sub-compact SUV but the #ToyotaCorollaCross is a much more competitive offering versus the old CH-R from last decade. The #CorollaCrossHybrid brings class leading efficiency that is lacking from its main rivals, and while the #ToyotaCorollaCrossHybrid doesn't quite have the off-road capability of the #SubaruCrosstrek, the same powertrain from the #ToyotaPrius may tempt buyers who are looking for class leading fuel economy.

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope your weekend is off to a great start! The Subaru Crosstrek may be the top seller the space but the Corolla Cross Hybrid is still the only hybrid in the segment and its sales are increasing every year! We're also expecting Lexus to send over the revised 2025 UX 300h very soon, which shares a platform with this vehicle and also gets the new hybrid powertrain from the Prius that is also in this car.

7:47 The spare tire part is wrong, sadly: Toyota stuck the high-voltage cable to the rear motor under the foam divider, so you couldn't put a spare there. (But that's better than on the RAV4, where that cable is on the outside and gets corroded in winter, and the hybrid warranty ignored!)

That is exactly one of the main reasons that I no longer drive a Toyota vehicle because of the outlandish markups for almost every single Toyota on their lot. There are a lot of other great manufacturers out there that make fantastic quality vehicles. I am so tired of corporate greed, and dealer greed.

42 MPG and under 7 seconds, 0-60, is a pretty rare combination, for any vehicle, at any price. Starting at $33k for an SE model, with standard AWD, with more power and MPG than anything else, I think its a steal.

An extra set of beeps is the rear seat reminder on newer Toyota vehicles, but I don’t think that’s what you experienced - it sounded more of a long beep. If you open a rear door (i.e. putting a child, object in the back seats), it will alert you when you attempt to lock the doors, as you did. I believe it unlocks the doors (even though I don’t think it did on your tester) and plays the beeps because you likely forgot something or someone in the back. Of course you can turn it off; it’s a feature with TSS 3.0 vehicles. Great video as always!

I was in an accident and needed a vehicle so went with the Honda HRV Sport. Great solid vehicle but obviously not a hybrid and it does not have much power at all. Your review of the back space is spot on. A lot of prospective buyers think this is an inexpensive alternative to the RAV4. It isn't. If you have a growing family and need second row space, this car won't work. As an aside, you will find most of the hybrids already pre-sold. The percentage sold, as you reported, is not because of demand but because of the supply constrictions at the new Mazda-Toyota plant in Alabama. Apparently, there is a shortage of skilled workers in that state. If Toyota was able to produce (or import) more of these cars, the numbers would be higher

Is the 2024 different from the 2023 CC Hybrid? My wife Bought a 2023 Leftover in February and I have to say, I hate the thing. When accelerating a good clip the engine is very utilitarian, reminds me of a 70s Pinto in noise and feel. It has no Insulation under the hood. The Seats are not very comfortable and I'm not sure who designed the cockpit cause the cupholders are down right against the console/armrest so that if you have a large fountain drink the straws hit you in the wrist. The infotainment system puts out sound quality akin to 1980s radio shack speakers.. not sure what is up with that. We have places under the hood that are void of paint, showing only light grey primer. Performance is good, fuel economy is good, but the 2017 Escape we traded for this car was much more comfortable to drive on a regular basis. We also have a 2018 Equinox that just feels so much better to drive from an ergonomics standpoint. the Stereo is so much better, the infotainment interaction much smoother and the seats have more adjustability. My wife is a Hospice nurse and needs something reliable because sometimes she is on call and responding to peoples house in rural areas at 3am, in that respect I have no doubts this will be reliable and thats why we bought it, Im sure it will run for a long time, however when shes not driving it for work it just sits and we take a 6 year old vehicle with 87K miles on it because its more comfortable and has better placed cupholder and the engine doesnt sound like its ready to pass through the firewall and land in your lap under hard acceleration.
@Cathy-xi8cb
@Cathy-xi8cb 18 сағат бұрын
You hate it because of...the cupholders? Really? The optional JBL sound system is excellent if you care about audio. If you can't make the 10-way power heated driver's seat work for you, I don't know what to say. As a passenger, I think the seating isn't terrific. But you won't be the driver; she will be. An Equinox is a much, much larger vehicle. Take that if you drive together. A new one will be far more expensive than this XSE.

18:25 false. There is an electric motor (two, in fact) in the front, and it delivers quite a bit of torque.

If you brake torque it, you are killing the CVT.

It likely isn't doing the rest of the drivetrain any favors either. Such is the life of a KZfaq car tester and factory loaner. Many of these videos should have a DON'T DO THIS A HOME warning.

The Toyota hybrids do not have CVTs, they have a nearly indestructible setup of two electric motor-generators and a planetary gearset.

This is a hybrid eCVT not a traditional belt pulley CVT you’d find in a Subaru.

Go ahead and pay the the additional 5-10k rather than getting an HRV or Crosstrek

I’m sick of crossovers, can we get the Fit/Jazz and Yaris back with their HEV drivetrains please.

Have the SE trim- which is the "base" trim in Canada. Was not charged any markups. Wonderful practical vehicle with incredible fuel economy. I do wish I could have gotten the hybrid drivetrain in an LE trim- Trim to trim it is cheaper than the RAV4, but an LE RAV4 hybrid is not that much more expensive... But with the way prices are moving - The upcoming redesigned RAV4 hybrid will probably only be offered in S-ish trims and be a LOT more $$$$ than the Corolla Cross... Love this car- Exciting? No But it is everything I need and more, and I can afford it! First car I have ever owned with heated steering wheel and seats- wow!

nice vehicle from Toyota, but the dealer mark-ups are such a show stopper. 😢

The styling is boring but I don’t think people expect that in this type of vehicle or at this price. However, as for price w/o markup its a deal. With it I think it becomes too expensive

You cannot fit a spare, there is an electrical cable that gets in the way.

Why just regular compact estates aren't more popular. Are the roads so bad you need more road clearance? If this just an image thing? Does your wife told you to get a SUV, even if it's just a cross-over? With a compact estate (Golf, Corolla, Mazda 3, Civic, if they made them) you get the best compromise. Boot capacity, low loading height, good room at the back, good aero, good handling, with still a reasonable footprint), and looks good too. Must be an image thing, I must be a hopeless has-been, because I can't find anything wrong with mine.

You really need to do a pov drive in your reviews you are only doing a side view and that makes it hard to see how the car really drives

This must be close to 50k in canada because the corolla hybrid is 42k 😂. It would take 6 to 10 years to recover the gas savings vs a regular engine 😂.

Dealers are marking them up over 19% above M.S.R.P....ridiculous. I would wait until production catches up to demand. Fix your old car and wait it out. Any hybrid vehicle is going to cost you bigly because they are in high demand and I don't mean EVs. And forget about a PHEV, those are rare breeds and are marked up and non-negotiable as well.

Most Toyota hybrids have eCVT as their transmission. It’s very different compared to conventional belt-driven CVT. It’s also much more reliable and proven ever since the first generation Toyota Prius came out.
