I decided to start keeping a list back in 2015 of soccer games in NFL stadiums (and went back 10 years before that, so I have a list of every soccer game played in every NFL stadium that was built from 2005 onward). So here's the list of the ones that are World Cup venues for 2026. SoFi Stadium in LA - 71,189 average (1 game) AT&T Stadium in Arlington - 62,561 average (18 games) MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford - 59,234 average (27 games) Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara - 52,077 average (20 games) Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta - 49,346 average (106 games)

Yes, you pronounced Argonauts correctly. We actually pronounce BMO as Bee-Moe, and BMO Field is actually expanding its capability for the World Cup because its currently capacity is not big enough per FIFA's requirements. It's current capacity is roughly 40,000 and it's being expanded to 45,000 for the World Cup. One of the images you used is a rendering of said expansion.

Chargers used to play in San Diego but moved to LA a few years ago like the rams from St. Louis. They even used to play in LA galaxy stadium before they built the sofi stadium.

Arrowhead is the loudest stadium in the world it will be rocking for the World Cup. Us KC soccer fans are looking forward to competent soccer in our city if we have 3 more years of Peter Vermes

Cowboys Stadium is probably the best designed stadium in America. Pains me to admit that as a Giants fan but that place is beautiful. Ive always loved how Metlife has a view of the NYC skyline in the backdrop though. Gonna be so cool and very strange seeing all these iconic American football stadiums filled to the brim for the world cup Also Chargers moved to LA from san diego a few years back

Levi’s is in Santa Clara and the San Jose Earthquakes play there from time to time. Playing LAFC there this weekend (4/6/23) as an example. Usually when PayPal park is too small for the demand.

Gillette is located in Foxborough which is about an hour or so away from Boston. I have been to Gillette twice now myself and it is a beautiful stadium.

Where the US Stadiums were concerned I often found it easier to remember that California and Texas both have 2 host cities. CA: LA & San Fran TX: Dallas & Houston Add in Seattle up in the North West USA and there you have 5 out of the 11. The remaining 6 includes: Boston, Philadelphia, New York City, Atlanta, Miami and Kansas City.

Can I get a source for information regarding making several venues smaller, as when I look it up, it appears to be the opposite. Smaller venues, like BMO field, are actually expanding to meet world cup demand. Not saying you're wrong, I'm just tryna find that info myself and I can't

We The fans want to know more about the facility. Will it have a natural grass field for the World Cup. It should. What other dimensions of the stadium will be done. The removed seating will it stay or be returned to box seating levels. We would like to know.

RaymondJames Stadium in Tampa, FL should also be considered. Home of the former Tampa Bay Mutiny MSL and we have hosted several big football games. Capacity is over 75,000 and is natural grass.

I thought SoFi Stadium was not dimensionally going to work and they venue might change? For the stadiums that have carpet I assume they will just be laying down grass? Which is not really ideal.

According to FIFA regulations, the stadium hosting a final must have a seating minimum of 80,000. There's only 2 stadiums that have that capacity. AT & T stadium in Dallas and Met Life Stadium in New Jersey. Most likely the final will be held in NJ

Of course it makes sense for FIFA to have the Final in NJ, why would they choose a stadium in Dallas over a venue close to the capital of the world, New York??

US Soccer HQ is in Chicago and they still did not make it into one of the 2026 World cup host venues. That's just upsetting as we would be an awesome host.

you know why, cause of greedy..30,000 can host a world cup group match, like I said greedy.. that why the world is the way it is today.. in the pass I see countries host the world cup and play out most the group matches in 40,000 seat stadium and the final play in the biggest stadium in that country that host, so don't let FIFA and those ppl fool you guys and yes they might step way from doing the world cup that way, but why! because its money driving and greedy they came up with all those stadium regulation, look how many beautiful soccer specific stadium been build in the US and host any soccer tournament and not one got chosen, stop for a minute and think, doest it really makes sense to you.. big big world cup they are using NFL stadium bro its embarressing 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

USA should be the only host. I dont get why US venues dont take more advantage. Why does Houston and Santa Clara get to host but not Vegas and New Orleans?! Cali and Texas already have a host, why 2? Why not take the opportunity to grow soccer in more states and in states where soccer isn't existence yet, it could help.

I think Canada should too. That is a country that would never spend billions to renovate its stadiums just for this tournament because they are smart and democratic snough to not do that. Mexico on the other hand should not host. The Azteca is not hosting the final, and they deserce to be the center of a tournament they would host with a few ither countries. Vegas and New Orleans were contacted but were eventually cut before the bid was submitted; New Orleans was cut earlier and Vegas was cut while the stadium was being built. California and Texas are the 2 biggest state economies in the US. The demand for 2 venues is there.

They call it the “San Francisco Bay Area”; when Stanford Stadium hosted in 94 it was also called San Francisco, and they do that because SF is the most famous city in the area

Michigan Stadium was never contacted by the bid committee. Ford Field was, but it was cut early on.

Sorry, but no offense for MEX will host 2 cities due to its political economics. USA will gain to host +1 of 12 total cities. CAN will stay same to host 2 cities. Just a constructive analysis here.

It’s up against MetLife in New York, which has been the favorite for a while and has enough seats for the final (82,500 vs 70,240). SoFi is an absolutely awesome, awe-inspiring venue but another factor against it is that the Rose Bowl hosted the final in 94, so FIFA may give New York it’s chance

Cleveland was cut before the bid was submitted, Cincinnati was cut last year (it never had a chance).

Sorry, but I just have to reply to Tact's petty little comment, as he always has openly been so jealous of Canada, after they dominated in the qualifiers last year, which, let's be honest, was the only legitimate tournament that had all of the best players playing in 2022. Canada beat both the U.S. & Mexico & ended up #1, with by far the best goal differential. Tact even had to bring up Canada's poor 1986 performance in the world cup... Really!!!! That is like pointing out the fact that the U.S. didn't even make it to the World cup in 1986. As a matter of fact, the U.S. didn't make it to the World cup, even once, between 1934 & 1950 & again between 1950 & 1990... But who cares about ancient history right? Then Tact said that Canada was one of the worst teams in the 2022 World cup; but he purposely failed to mention that Canada was unfortunately in the Group of death. Canada totally outplayed Belgium, the 2nd best FIFA ranked team in the World before that; but unfortunately Canada lost 1-0 and didn't get the bounces. Canada legitimately lost convincingly to Croatia 4-1 in their 2nd match & were outplayed; but hey, Croatia made it to the semi-finals & made it to the finals 4 years earlier, in the previous World cup in 2018. Canada then lost a close game 2-1 to Morocco, who, by the way, were also a semi-finalist. There is some small consolation in Canada finishing the loss against Morocco with 1.39 xG to Morocco’s 0.43. Canada owned a better xG than Belgium in their game, too. So, while statistically Canada finished 2nd last with 3 losses, in fact Canada punched well above their weight in 2 of their 3 matches against much higher ranked teams & I almost guarantee you that had the U.S. been in that group instead of Canada, they would have fared no better & probably worse, given how poorly they played in the qualifiers, tying 4th place Costa Rica in points. Either way, I look forward to the Nations League semifinals & finals & the 2026 World cup & all of the tournaments in between, even though the U.S. will have a huge homefield advantage for most of them, just as they will for most of the 2026 World cup. Canadians believe that Canada will perform very well in all of those tournaments. Hopefully that is not seen as arrogance; but rather, as a strong confidence that our team will be extremely competitive and have a very good chance of winning, every time they step on the pitch.

Saying that our country was the 2nd worst in the World cup, goes beyond playful banter & I've seen you & Pete do it a number of times in not such a playful manner. @@chuckobscure5622 , Seriously, you won a Friendly vs Morocco that counted for nothing, playing on your own home pitch... Morocco didn't even play star player Chelsea FC midfielder Hakim Ziyech, who was not injured and he was at the stadium. Guess Morocco didn't take that match too seriously... Maybe you didn't read my post all the way to the end. The trophies won by the U.S. in 2022 were for tournaments in which many of the best players for most countries were not participating in. Canada was missing several of their better players. Not to mention the fact that once again the U S. had a huge home field advantage. 'The Qualifiers' was by far the best tournament to judge CONCACAF teams, as the best players all played, unless injured & the matches were fairly played in all countries.
