He suffered burns to his forearm as a child after an accident, his parents thought violin lessons would help him strengthen his muscles from the injury. He got so good the plan was to send him to a music conservatory in Europe but because of WWI that plan was scrapped. He briefly tried boxing as a teen too, won 1 fight but his dad was against it so that didn't last long.

The Three Stooges were are the all time kings of slapstick comedy and had greatest sound effects. There were 3 Howard Brothers whose real name was Horowitz. Shemp, born in 1895. Moe, born in 1897 and baby brother Curly born in 1903. Larry Fine was also a vaudeville performer that the stooges hooked up with in NYC. Moe, Larry and Shemp were the original three. Aroung 1934 Shemp left to pursue a movie career. Worked out OK for him but what Larry and Moe got was Curly and they were off to the races. Incredible career between 1935-47 until sadly, Curly had to step away suffering several strokes in 1947. Shemp came back and remained until his death in 1955, he to was extremely funny but Curly was and still is the most beloved Stooge of all. He sadly passed in 1952 at age 48 from another stroke. Moe and Larry both passed in 1974 just several months apart. After Shemp passed in 55 Moe and Larry carried on with another Curly and a Curly Joe but it wasn't the same without Curly or Shemp but were still popular until they retired around 1970. I actually met Moe and Larry in 1964 at age six at a shopping center outside of Pittsburgh. The stooges were performing at a night club there. My mother and older sister were shopping and my father took me to a Sun drug store where they had the lunch counter and the old soda fountain. There were two guys on down the other end of the counter and my dad asked me if I knew who those two guys were and I said no. He told me that was Moe and Larry, they looked very different without the hair. I still swear that Moe invented The Beatles 1963-64 mop top haircuts way back in the mid thirties. Anyway, my dad took me over to meet them, I was scared. Moe put me on his lap and I was terrified that he was gonna slap my face, pull my hair and poke me in the eyes. Turned out he was a very sweet man as was Larry. They both signed a little waitress pad that they used to write you order on. I still have and treasure it to this day. Fond memories of my father and the stooges from long ago now. The stooges are still as popular now as back in there hey days. There are Stooge conventions around the country every year. Check out Laurel and Hardy too, they started their film shorts in 1927 through the 1940's and extremely funny too. Peace ❤❤

The Stooges would disagree strongly with you characterizing them as "slapstick". Moe Howard very succinctly stated on many occasions that the Three Stooges were "strictly farce - not slapstick". Jealous that you met Moe and Larry. Every story I've read about them is the same: both kind and gentle men. Moe often appeared on the Mike Douglas show, excerpts of which are on KZfaq.

Curly was a BIG dog lover. Over his life time he had saved thousand's of stray dogs. He even took some to the place that they were filming at. The film company had to limit the number he could bring to the shooting.

There's a LOT of things that don't have "foul language," and are terribly funny. And not just in 1938. Also in 1958, 1978, 1998, and 2018. There's always been tons of funny things that don't have "foul language," so i don't know what your point is in singling out this one particular thing.

I have a friend that read an actual three stooges script. When the stooges were in the scene, the screenwriter wrote: Stooges, do your thing. Hahaha...there was no way to write their pokes, slaps, and antics as the Stooges were masters of slapstick and comedic timing.

The Stooges had a lucrative job for many years, until Columbia shut down its Shorts division. Back in the days before home TV, going to the movies was an all-night adventure. There'd typically be a cartoon, a weekly World News reel, a Short (such as this), a "B" Feature, a potty and popcorn break, and then the "A" Feature. The Stooges made five to ten 20-minute Shorts a year, each one taking a couple weeks to produce. They received a full check on weeks they were shooting. All other weeks, they still got a half check, and were free to travel and put on their live stage show. Altogether they made about 190 Shorts and five Features for Columbia. Watch a lot of their stuff, you'll see that certain character actors get used repeatedly. Makes sense. Curly had an excellent physical comedy touch. My very favorite Stooges Short is "An Ache in Every Stake." I never understood the meaning of the title, but the film is hilarious.

Back in the days of vaudeville, a stooge was a common part of the act. He was the "fall guy", the butt of the jokes, the gullible one who got victimized and abused. The Howard Brothers and Larry Fine worked as stooges for Ted Healy in his vaudeville act. That's why their comedy was so physical, and also it's why, when they got the chance to make films for Columbia, they simply called themselves "The Three Stooges". They made "shorts" for the studio, short films that would be shown in the theaters before the feature film. Their film shorts became more popular sometimes than the feature films themselves.

For even older school comedy, before Abbott and Costello, 3 Stooges etc, I'd recommend "Laurel and Hardy". They were comedy geniuses back in the early 1900's, to the 1940's. Getting their start in Vaudeville, and in silent movies. My all time favorite comedians. Some recommendations: "Busy Bodies", "County Hospital" and "The Music Box". Of which they won an Oscar for. Stan Laurel (Skinny one) can literally make you laugh, by just a look. I think you'd really love them. 😃 Happy 4th you two! 🇺🇲🎇🗽🍻🫡

Though they are known as the Three Stooges, over the period of their career in showbusiness there were actually six of them, including the three Howard brothers Moe, Curly and Shemp, Larry Fine, and two others now largely forgotten Joe Besser and "Curly" Joe Derita. Larry Fine (who played violin here) remained with the trio throughout most of their history, until he suffered from a stroke in 1970. The gang shown here is the classic ensemble of Curly Howard, Moe Howard and Larry Fine. Sadly, Curly Howard's career would be cut short by illness in 1946 and an early death in 1952 and his place would be taken by his other brother Shemp Howard. The trio would continue briefly with Moe, Larry and Shemp, until his death in 1955. Shemp would be replaced by Joe Besser (1956-57) and he in turn would be replaced by "Curly" Joe DeRita.

Curly suffered a stroke in 1946 and was replaced by his brother Shemp, who died in 1955. Joe Besser replaced him, but the quality of the shorts really declined and they were essentially fired in 1958. The next year, Columbia released all of the shorts to television and kids who had never seen them went crazy and turned them into superstars again. They made a handful of movies, which really weren't that good but undoubtedly made money.

I might be remembering this wrong, but wasn't this the episode when Curly had a stroke on set? It was his last performance with the Stooges before Shemp came in to replace him. Can someone verify that for me? I could google it but I'm lazy.

Please do some more Elvis Presley reactions. When I was a kid in the 70s I watched the 3 stooges everyday.

As far as a comedic/laughter reaction, it's a bit of a different request, it's not a comedy sketch/routine, it's actually an interview between Jimmy Fallon and Bradley Cooper back in 2014, the reason I think it's worth a reaction is (uncontrollable laughter) you'll see what I mean if you give it a chance lol has over 22M views, I couldn't stop laughing the first time I saw it, it's the Extended Version 10:49 seconds I believe, I hope you consider it maybe sometime in the near future 🙏😁 the title of the video is "Bradley and Jimmy can't stop laughing"
