The redheads picking up pennies were all Mort. A Jewish character, playing on the stereotype that Jewish people coveting money. Also, the German-Polish-Czech thing with the hotdog stands was a WW2 reference because Germany invaded Poland and then Czech Republic.

As a Scotsman, I have to correct the misconception that Scots pronounce "bum", "boom". We say "bum". In fact we like the "uh" sound so much we pronounce "bird", "burd". I can understand why this misconception occurs - we say "bum" so rarely. We prefer to say "arse".

He also helped establish concentration camps which housed homosexuals and black Cubans, as their existence undermined the movement. There are 216 murders attributed to him directly from 1957-1960, which are the only ones verifiably documented, there were likely many more. He also oversaw "trials" in which guilt was presumed, and "suspicion" was sufficient evidence for conviction. These trials were used as a way to "legitimize" the execution of 550 members of the previous regime. If you see a college kid wearing his t-shirt, you know that kid's not going anywhere, they're hopelessly uneducated and just pissing away their parent's money by being angsty years after most people have outgrown that phase.

Israel- that's an established Jewish Family Guy regular, replete with stereotypical Jewish traits. The joke is basically saying they expected the whole country to be stereotypically Jewish (as they understand it, based on that aforementioned character). Kind of like going to Italy and expecting everyone to act like Joe Pesci from Goodfellas. As for feeding him pennies in Israel, well...that's a play on THE common stereotype regarding their people.

@@laziojohnny79 True. I don't know enough about history to know if that's the only time they invaded Poland or not but the Joke always seems to be Germany wants to get there hands on Poland. So maybe the joke is Poland is there number 1 goal but once they get it they will want more?

@@Yugioh420 As a country it was the first time seeing Germany is a relative young nation and Poland did not exist as an independent state during World War I, although Polish people were expected to fight on the axis side during the first world war. It's more the whole of (eastern) Europe the nazi's saw as their rightfull ground to extend their 'Lebensraum' (which arguably wasn't that strange seeing the vast numbers of German(ic) people living in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Romania and the Baltic east coast). The Dutch and Scandinavians were seen as their Germanic brothers and sisters and the British (and even the French) as kind of their cousins with whom they shared a cultural bond, sort of speak at least.

The Haiti one with Godzilla was hilarious to me ... maybe given what's going on there now resulted in a more muted experience, but it's definitely a dark but funny one since Godzilla was even shocked by the destruction there so he left without doing anything.

We non-Canadians know that not every Canadian says "eh" all the time and that the only reason the character in that clip said it so much was for the joke. There is, however, a movie reaction channel here on YT featuring a Canadian man and his mother and she says "eh" at the end of just about every other sentence. It's used colloquially in certain regions and by certain people, just like "y'all" in the States.

The reason the Scottish one seemed out of place is because it's not actually from Family Guy, it's from a film/compilation of short sketches called Seth MacFarlane's Calvicade of Comedy or something like that. It is also a horrendously bad Scottish accent, but I think that was actually the joke

I live in the Detroit area. It's probably the closest US city in perception to Mexico. I lived on the other side of the state in Grand Rapids (only 2 hour drive away) until college. My family moved to this area and I remember my mom originally thinking it would be like moving into an always dark Detroit alley way where you have to keep your head on a swivel. Not exactly how most of the area is (especially Oakland County which is one of the richest in the nation). 🙂 BTW, Seth MacFarlane and his show(s) are and have always been about the most woke you can get. Don't know where you got the anti-woke perception from. If you're looking for anti-woke, South Park would probably be more accurate. Both different ends of the spectrum in my view. Both still funny to this day.

Actually its true. The cartel is not overblown. Whenever id visit my family in central mexico theyd warn me and eben the local police would be careful in zacatecas. Resorts are generally left alone by cartel I'm assuming because they help the country or the resorts have cartel ties.

LOL, no, it hasn't changed. Family Guy has always roasted everybody, but some people want to see offense everywhere so now they're whining that it's gotten "woke" (meaning "I don't get the jokes anymore so they must be poking fun at me"). Much like Matt and Trey (who are responsible for South Park), Sean MacFarlane simply does not give a crap and will roast anyone. He's not mean-spirited as far as I know; he just thinks people should have a sense of humor about themselves, and thinks it's funny when people get upset at him. So the whining isn't gonna change his humor no matter where it's coming from. He'll just double down. (Did I mention he doesn't give a crap? Okay, then.)

Wow, it's obvious you've never watched Family Guy if you didn't recognize Mort, Quahog's Jewish pharmacist and the butt of all 'Jews are cheap' jokes. The Canadian 'eh' depends on which Province or even which part of a Province you come from, Southern Ontario being where it is most prevalent. The 'eh' is actually Scottish so it's most common in areas where the majority of immigrants were from Scotland.

Family Guy got cancelled and taken off of FOX Network but not why you think, Seth McFarlane was trying everything in his power to get the show off the air because he was tired of making it but FOX wouldn't let them go so he was forced to continue doing the show for several more years and made the show really bad just to spite the network and get them to cancel the show.
