The Imalent DX80 outputs 32,000 lumens which makes it the brightest flashlight ever, by a long shot as of 2017. It uses 8 Cree XHP-70.2 LEDs to pump out more light that you'll ever need. Light up whole buildings, monsters, aliens or sasquatch. Impress all your friends with Surefires, and Maglites- because this is brighter than any of those. Believe me a lot of people are saying it. In this review you'll see comparisons to the 2nd brighest light ever the Acebeam X80- which held the world record in lumens production flashlights for a while- I guess. You'll also see the Budget Light Forum Q8, the Nitecore TM16gt, the Imalent DT70, and the Acebeam X45- many of which put out over 10,000 lumens. Buy it at Gear Best:
Us Plug version: www.gearbest.com/led-flashlig... (12% off coupon: GB17LED)
EU Plug version: www.gearbest.com/led-flashlig... (coupon for EU only $217: GB11DX)
Make sure you get the right plug version for the country in which you live.

You make such nice, funny, delightful videos, that while I never in my life had cared much about knives or flashlights , now I already bought Armytek Wizard, BLF A6, Zebralight H600Fd, SanRenMu Land 9103 and 910, and few more. Actually, the best tools I ever bought in my 50+ years, and all just on impulse from watching your reviews. You truly can do magic with your camera. Thanks and cheers from Europe

These are all excellent choices. Although after owning a Zebralight it's hard to go back to a mechanical switched EDC without shortcuts to moonlight and high modes.

Advanced Knife Bro Zebralight h600Fd I bought the preorder for MK IV which suppose to have the UI solving that problem ( I have waited for that UI especially since I like more subzero moonlight modes and no need for turbo), so far the the Armytek Wizard pro white light and non-pro warm light are two lights that I use everyday for night walks and love both of them. Before I have seen your videos I used some ultra cheap energizer headlight which is now in garbage. Besides of making them very useful , u really can make flawless short films better than most major famous filmmakers. Thanks and best wishes from dark Northern Europe!

Bro. Another fantastic job! I stopped the video at the 08:26 mark, and left it there for about 5 minutes. Staring. Wow, we sure have we come a long way the past couple of years. A very impressive lineup. I predict, that this time next year. At least one of them will have a fan in it ; - ) It's also an especially beautiful time of year, for your shots at the 11:50 mark. Just gorgeous. Thank you.

My yard is a blanket of leaves right now. Unfortunately it's raining on and off, so I haven't had a good chance to mow over them yet. About 70% have fallen? But yeah, the trees are on fire right now I love it. Yeah it's a nice lineup for sure! Originally I had the X7R in the beamshots, but I figured it was redundant, so I left that one out. My Meteror didn't make it this time- Adventure Sport Flashlights has it... but it's usually a fixture in my big lumen reviews.

Thanks for review. I’ve got two DX80’s. Both throw over 700 meters where the one out perform the other one with 70 meters. The shortest distance for the one just over 700 meters. Cannot believe the difference in distance for same lights but from different suppliers. My old Acebeam X45 throwing distance was around 530 meters and my Imalent DT70 around 610 meters. My new upgraded X45 from Acebeam with XHP70.2 just over 600 meters of throw. Must say throwing distance for the DX80 is really brilliant for such high true 32000 lumens flood output.

+hardus van der hoven sounds like there’s some variance then. What did you measure your candela at ... like 20 ft away 30 ft... 10 ft? I measure mine at 20fy
@hardusvd
@hardusvd 6 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed. I use normally 10 meters. My reading was 1255 lux which is 125500 candela. The other Dx was reading 1530 lux which is 153000 candela for 10 meters of throw. I did these tests over and over to cornfirm if it’s correct.

Great for crowd dispersal, no doubt. Extremely well-conducted review, replete with wry delivery (which is really why I watch your videos). I'm hoping you branch out into producing shorts on social commentary. You'd be a hit (I think). Rock on.
@AdvancedKnifeBro
@AdvancedKnifeBro 6 жыл бұрын
I've been saying I'm going to branch out for a while, but I have a comfort zone. I think I'm going to do some Filson reviews and boot reviews soon... maybe some camera stuff too. These sorts of reviews tend to give me a foundation to use my observations (if you can call it that?) of consumer culture. I don't know of a good way to do a social commentary video without doing a Vlog... and those really aren't my style. While a lot of people are interested in vlogs... I am not much, and I would have no idea how to make it interesting. Plus the voiceover style tends to suit me better because frequent jump cuts in vlogs are jarring... and I tend to ramble and screw up a lot. My vlogs would look like stop motion. Ok this was a very long response... sorry for the rambling.
@mitchelldelmar9682
@mitchelldelmar9682 6 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the thought put into your rambling reply. The voice-over format works really well with your editing style - like you're a principal in a review film, rather than the reviewer. It's very unique, as many people have already said. You definitely have the slightly offbeat, intelligent, funny, head-scratching thing going on. I dunno. I just see something that could be expanded (and monetized), but wtf do I know?

Gee whiz! My brightest flashlight is a Nitecore TM06s, 4k lumens. I use that very few times at work while doing an inspection in unlit area or when on vacation. I cant imagine having a 32k lumen flashlight in my arsenal. Holy cow! Of course there is a use for such a beast but i have no use for such a lumen riddled behemoth. Imalent are my favourite manufacturer lately, especially as my X80 has a fault. Can't wait to see if Imalent crack 50,000 lumens next year!!! I measured 32,114 on the DX80 (34,000 for a millisecond at turn on) so quite consistent units. I can't help thinking Thrunite are due a big lumen monster to take the flood king title.
@AdvancedKnifeBro
@AdvancedKnifeBro 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah man... it seems consistent. I was reading that review over on BLF where he got 28000 ish at 30 second in? I couldn't reproduce numbers that low and I tried many times. So maybe he got an early model? My middle modes were consitent with the elevated numbers he got... I mean not exactly- but he found them reading quite a bit higher too. It would explain the much shorter runtimes on those modes.

Hi, I like your review style so much I watched this twice. Is your DX80 still working? The key complaint I see is issues with the charger or LEDs going bad \ out on other reviews and videos. So what is your take on quality so far? Any clue if it has a warranty?...I could not find any reference to one on their site. Thanks!
@AdvancedKnifeBro
@AdvancedKnifeBro 5 жыл бұрын
I rarely use this light, but it seems to be fine. I have seen Imalent switch issues on other lights in the past though. Warranty? Chinese companies often frustrate people in the US for weird warranty practices. Sometimes they ask you to mail the light to them- which can be very expensive. My suggestion is if you like this light- look for it from a US based vendor, and ask them how they handle warranty claims.

+Yaxez absolutely not. I don’t have access to anything more than my large backyard. The foliage back drop helps show the beam pattern because it’s a large area. I already put 10x the amount of effort in the videos than any other KZfaqr- and it’s not even in the realm of possibilities at this point. I spent nearly 12 hours yesterday editing and writing this video. You could always pay for me to move to a more interesting area?

Sorry, not really my position to demand anything. Just a suggestion to improve what is already a high quality flashlight review. Do you have a patreon?
@AdvancedKnifeBro
@AdvancedKnifeBro 6 жыл бұрын
I do not. Believe me, I wish I could shoot in different areas more often... but the compromise for me putting out more videos (several a month) is that I shoot in an area that's convenient for me. Family life and work life keep me from traveling to shoot them. My Lance of Ra review worked well because I timed it with a vacation... I do not have a Patreon. I rely on google ad sense, some affiliate links, and retailers and subscribers donating stuff to me so I don't have to spend all my money on gear. With the amount of time I put into this channel, I don't know if I have time to do a Patreon. It's something I've looked into briefly.

Just got the dx80 in and was surprised by the neutral white tint. Every video I have watched seemed to show cool white washing everything in its path out but not the case with mine. I like the more neutral color anyways but that's a bit odd to me. Any thoughts or is it more of a warm tint in person?
@AdvancedKnifeBro
@AdvancedKnifeBro 6 жыл бұрын
A lot of people use an auto iris, and auto white balance on the camera, so it makes it look that way. It is definitely a cool white... not an ugly blue- but if you have it next to a 5000k tint, you'll see the difference. People usually consider 4500k and below warmish for flashlights. Although your household bulbs are probably 3200k ish or lower. Most tint snobs agree a 5000k is generally Neutralish, and anything 5600k (daylight) or above is cool white.

Out of curiosity, how does a warmer color temperature provide higher color rendering when higher kelvin light is closer to actual daylight? Our actual daylight is what our entire perception of color is based on.
@AdvancedKnifeBro
@AdvancedKnifeBro 6 жыл бұрын
I don’t know the answer to that. However one thing to keep in mind is daylight CRI changes through the day. Look it up. I shoot enough video to know that setting 5600k for my white balance in the evening gives me a magenta cast to my video- and usually in the early morning it’s bluish. I have always felt some parts of the flashlight community place way to much emphasis and critique on flashlight tint. I like a good neutral or warm tint too... but I can’t say why.

Advanced Knife Bro Sry i did not know that the k65 is about to drop. Of all the various lights i have (small EDC to big lumen flood lights) i still love my old Thrunite TN35 the most when it comes to walking through the woods at night because of the great UI and the almost perfect combo of flood and throw (imho) even though its 2750 lumen output is rather low in comparison to newer gernerations of flashlights. The Acebeam K60 seemed to be a more modern Version of that light with a similar UI and overall handling. Since i enjoy your content and value your opinion on lights a lot i would have loved to see you review the K60 (or now rather K65). Anyway, thanks for the reply and keep up the quality content.
@AdvancedKnifeBro
@AdvancedKnifeBro 6 жыл бұрын
The K65 is a bit different because it's more of a thrower, that the K60. I would say the K60 is an excellent light... it looks very similar in operation and size to my K40M or K70... the difference is it's a lot brighter than both. I like the control ring on these lights... it makes operation easy. If you don't own it, I would say it's probably a solid light.

Unscrew the battery pack... on the positive end there’s a clear plastic piece over the brass positive terminal. Remove it and make sure you screw it all the way down... don’t unscrew from the tail... the point of separation is under the head of the flashlight where the battery tube starts
@charlottephoto

Advanced Knife Bro thanks for the reply. I’ve inspected the area and do not see a plastic piece. Looks like bare brass to me. Wouldn’t plastic prevent the light from operating at all? It does work just won’t charge. Any other ideas. I’ve heard others getting bad chargers. Thanks again!

Sort of a brute force way to achieve 100Kcd, but still not bad for a steroidal soup can that wants to be a tank shell when it grows up. At what distance did you grab those candela numbers?
@AdvancedKnifeBro
@AdvancedKnifeBro 6 жыл бұрын
20 ft. I did not test at 35 ft though. My general rule of thumb is, just about anything under 250kcd can be read at about 20ft. This reading was about 50 kcd less than the spec... some other people tested less than me. The hot spot was big enough that I didn't have to search for it at all.
@silentthunderordnance1655
@silentthunderordnance1655 6 жыл бұрын
TY. Yeah 20 is fine with a light like this, no criticism here. If I were to guess, and it is just a guess, I'd say the MFR may have been stretching things either with the time or the light's starting temperature, if not the test distance. Without active cooling, the performance drop is crazy. (obvi)
@AdvancedKnifeBro
@AdvancedKnifeBro 6 жыл бұрын
+Silent Thunder Ordnance quite a few if the big lumen lights I’ve tested recently have always been short of the lumens output. I see others get the same in their reviews... Acebeam... the new TN36... the X7R. This one is at least very close in the lumens... not anywhere close in the candela department though.

Received one lately with a broken charger, anyone knows where can I buy one or should I only go back to GearBest? Since it’s still with my friend in the US, He tells me that the DX80 doesn’t light up, does that mean it needs to be charged / he doesn’t know how to operate it / or could it be faulty? Any help is appreciated 😊

Yep. I have a suspicion that often we think the QC problems are worse than they are. If they sell 200 lights and 12 are defective... is that, that bad? The complaints are usually heard loudest and those people tend to post more often, and people are perfectly happy usually don't speak up. But if I hear this stuff I tend to throw it out there so viewers can research for themselves.
@Osprey1994

I didn't like the looks of the Imalent reviews, and I also don't go just by lumens. Let's not forget that higher output requires higher power draw, which equates to lower battery life. The Thrunite that we have is only about 4200 lumens but it's candela rating is very high, it throws over 1,000 meters, lights up a very large field like it's nobody's business, and has great battery life. I will also add that the Imalent lights tended to cost twice as much as the Thrunite.

"Brightest flashlight ever" . . . well, except for those 1,000,000 and 2,000,000 candlepower handheld halogen spotlights, that put out about 79,500 and 159,000 lumens, respectively, and have been available for decades. If they're going to make a hand-held light where the body heats up to almost 140º, why the hell don't they cover the grip with rubber, or silicon, or some other insulating material? For nearly $400, you'd think they could throw a little something like that in.
