THE 4 QUADRANT WEEK PLAN - A time-management system to help you work on activities that really matter | Stephen Covey
SUBSCRIBE: / @themodeler2759
The 4 quadrant week plan is a tool that helps people organize their tasks on a weekly basis, unlike most of the time management tools today that are based on daily planning.
This plan, based on 4 quadrants is the time management system that Stephen Covey recommends to help you put first things first in your life.
We basically spend our time in four different ways, being urgent and important the two factors that define an activity.
Quadrant I - Urgent & Important;
Quadrant III - Urgent & Not Important;
Quadrant IV - Not Urgent & Not Important;
Quadrant II - Not Urgent & Important;
Thanks for watching!!

Thank you for sharing this video & content from Mr. Covey. I got to read this book when I first started college. I wish I would’ve actually applied the principles at that point in time. Blinders were definitely on, as I didn’t think (or see how) the principles applied to my life. 10+ years later, here I am, seeing this information again as if it were for the first time. Ironically, needing help with time management. 😅 To anyone else in a similar situation: We do the best with what we have and with what we know at any given moment. When we know better, we do better.

I read Stephen Coveys book a long time ago and never took the time to implement this 4 Quadrant Week Plan instead opting for the standard daily plan, but after using the daily plan for almost two years now and struggling to be on time with everything that needs to get done in a day I've come back to this and can see the potential benefits of using this over a standard daily plan! Thanks for the video!

It's the Eisenhower Matrix, isn't it?
@dante1981
@dante1981 6 жыл бұрын
no, not really. Eisenhower Matrix is just a name which a German Coach gave to the system after she stole it from the original from Dr. Covey. That´s why you won´t find any English language sources referring to the "Eisenhower Matrix". The idea that General Eisenhower used the system is completely made up.

Is the task "study" and the task "chores" considered as important & urgent or important & not urgent?
@ToddEdmondson
@ToddEdmondson 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, It is my opinion that chores - are urgent but not important. Get them done and you are finished. Study - if for the future is important but not urgent, Study for test tomorrow or very soon would be urgent and important. It can only be done now and nothing should get in the way. these are my opinions.

Good video and some good messages, but there are also a couple of deep misunderstandings of the 4 quadrants here that can mislead and confuse. Needs refining.
@lizclegg7556

What are the misunderstandings?
@guyarnold
@guyarnold 5 жыл бұрын
@@lizclegg7556 There is a fundamental misunderstanding over the word 'urgent', that is common (and hugely destructive): it states that if it's urgent 'it requires our immediate attention': this is fundamentally incorrect on two counts. 1. As Habit one states so well (Be Proactive), everything we do is a CHOICE ... NOTHING requires our immediate attention. This mistake is repeated later on when he states 'it 'has to' be done' (nothing 'has to' be done in life (except to die)). 2. This is not what 'urgent' means (and this is very important): 'urgent' just means that there is a timescale approaching, and, if you're going to do it at all, you'll need to get on and do it fairly soon: the key is, of course, the phrase 'if you're going to do it at all': this is using the 'important' filter. This is a complicated tool to understand, and VERY complicated to use properly: any tiny misunderstanding can have massive negative consequences.
@guyarnold
@guyarnold 5 жыл бұрын
@@lizclegg7556 It could also do with talking about the 'Weekly Compass' tool, and the 'Daily Plan' tool, that are the tools that actually empower you to embed the 4 quadrant approach into your life: knowledge without the right tools is frustrating at best!
@lizclegg7556
@lizclegg7556 5 жыл бұрын

This is a really useful video with important concepts, but I'm wondering why women are so underrepresented in your sketches? By my count, only 2 of the 9 or 10 people you sketch are female, and both appear wasting their time in the "Not important" row. Subconscious bias is a very powerful thing - both for creators of content, and for their audience. Please can you be really deliberate about showing gender balance in future videos?
