I remember that one game I had with sniper and it was saving private sniper lmao. The whole team had to built items and pick heroes to save him and the enemy picked heroes to catch and jump on him. It was so hilarious how much they threw everything they had on him and us save him risking all our lives

I think furion's win rate doesn't represent a true picture as a lot of times this hero picked as 'im going to afk farm jungle for 20 mins without tping to ganks, good luck.' Pudge is usually 'i ran out of ranked roles tokens so I'm going to pick pudge on pos 5 and cosplay a leaching xp tree for the laning stage. Supporting is prohibited by my religion.' no pulling, no stacking, no harass/trading. Both these are true for me in divine 1 bracket and I've seen this in my friends pub who are archon 3-5. To see a pudge player who knows what he's doing (doesn't matter if you win or lose) is rare these days.

Sniper's my main. Been playing him on and off since 2012. And let me tell you.. Jenkins is right.

Lion is easy to use however if you don't have proper communication with your team, you will end up disabling the enemy with out follow up because you went in too early or not taking advantage of chain stun mechanics resulting into - "enemy survived" or worst, the enemy made a turn around resulting into your team being wiped.. Using "FINGER" to KS a hero that's just 1 auto attack away instead of using it to the next hero that has full (or half HP) resulting into inefficient damage distribution due to OVER KILLING the first hero....

God I love how low snipers winrate is. A smile is on my face every time an enemy picks him. I love picking storm against that manlet bastard Edit: a good sniper is a dead sniper

GPM and XP talent doesnt hurt pudge much as it is a nerf in a whole and he can farm with Rot easily. the BIGGEST nerf is removing regen from fleshheap and reducing armor component from cheap item, the XP and gold are OP and should be nerfed, but after the regen is removed, Pudge is unplayable.

I remember 2010, Lion mid was the meta thing. All the top Chinese teams had a killer Lion mid in their books, farming treads + dagger ASAP and being killers. That was before magic reduction, status resistance and overall the health pool of all heroes got steady buffs. Earthspike + Finger was a kill on most heroes, and if it wasn't, Lion provided an eternity of stuns. I kinda miss how dota deviated from those concepts

You are very correct when it comes to furion. I have around 800 games on him. He is a drow with less damage and a beastmaster with worse push. His greatest strength is his amazing earlygame, which he very much stands on his own, and global teleport, which is *enabled by his teammates*. Pick qop, ember, void spirit, QE invoker or something similar if you want to win with a furion on team! It's really no wonder furion was played mid. If he gets early levels and farm, he can do a lot with just a stun on his team.

There is one thing all those heroes have in common and I think it's why those hero gets picked alot. They're all fun to play.

To be fair, Lion's abilities are insanely valuable because he has a low cooldown manadrain ability to counter linkens which also has a huge cast range. Bane used to be that guy before but nowadays its only shaman and lion. Or you have to spend gold on an item like force staff. Also, NP's sprout is very good if enemy has a melee carry who lack mobility but will not go for battlefury in lategame. Like silencing the enemy and sprout making them useless for 4 secs. More if your team has halberd.

I think the worst part about picking any hero is your very own team mates, every time you pick a utility hero, your safe lane is something dumb like a MK or veno, you always fail to get a proper hardcarry these days. Or worse, a lane partner with SEA syndrome, SEA ME RUN, SEA ME HIDE, SEA ME FEED.

People pick sniper because he's the COD hero and people sometimes forget they're playing dota.

Ironically, all of these heroes are extremely meta right now, except for lion who is still insanely pathetic.

so... when we played with these 4 as a premade 4 it wasn't supposed to be a suprise to just keep losing... k. Also, since most of the time at least one of these gets picked with my friends, some tips: Sniper can be great if there is a bodyguard around him like an Ogre. Lion is good with heroes that can kill in 5 seconds(like Troll). Pudge: Blind hooks are underrated... seriously, if there is a 30% chance of an enemy being in a blind zone, go for a hook. after 4 attempts you will have an over 75% chance of grabbing someone, usually a weak support. Furion: using him for picking off solo enemies is more value than splitpushing. A dewarding CM is usually an EZ kill. Also, the Pudge Techies combo is one of the most fun, but without 3 other heroes who can put up with the enemy, and be frontline, it's an instaloss.

I've had a lot of success in the 2k-3k mmr bracket with Sniper. Midas into mjöllnir is super greedy, but lategame with a satanic, you can actually survive jumps.

The hobos story was so touching

As a natures prophet spammer I can agree with Jenkins on this. The hero has spikes in the game. When you get level 3-4 treants, they do very good damage to heroes in the lane and for that reason NP is great during the laning phase, treants also tank a tonne of tower damage meaning diving T1 is quite easy with prophet. Once the enemy cores get damage items the treants are only good for pushing lanes and jungling. The main issue with Natures prophet is that after 30-40 minutes the hero falls off so much. All his spells are essentially useless in a teamfight and you rely on items which make you essentially a right click hero. Its better just to focus on pushing with bkb and force the enemy team out of position to deal with the lanes and take teamfights where you have the numbers advantage.

Yo jenkins, i wanna brag about how bad Windrunner is as a hero. The only thing you need to know to play this hero is just farm MKB (sometimes javelin is enough alrdy) then just rotating pinpoint any hero and kill them. This hero requires absolutely no skill. You just need to press the Q and R, if someone hit you, you need to press E. Someone doing magic disable? get BKB then voila... you are invulnerable. Yes if the enemy get MKB to counter her E, then it really doesnt matter since Windrun has a huge bonus MS, also can invis with talent. Since now blademail doesnt pierce through BKB, then WR can just buy BKB for BM squad. This hero is so freaking broken and requires no skills. There are several heroes i do consider as broken heroes, such as Invoker, or maybe Meepo before the huge nerf, these heroes requires a deep understanding about the hero, and need a lot of mechanical skills. But Windranger, this ginger just press Q and R then go brrr. Thats all, sorry if there is no point in this rant(?)

as a regular pudge AND Sniper picker in scrub tier unranked pub games, i can confirm everything you said is correct. i always play pudge as pos 4 or 5, cuz u need vision to hook, thats really just an investment for ur own kills. and as for sniper, usually its really team dependent, if the other team is at all decent, u will be targetted every single time, cuz they know if they leave u alone, u will destroy the whole team, which i have done many times. or if ur team is shit at supporting, aka not willing to buy wards and sentries from min 1, then ur pretty much doomed to lose note to supports: by the time u get ur basic items like mana boots and force staff or whatever, and then start buying sentries by min 20 or 30, its too late, game is already lost. the earlier u start getting vision and killing their vision, the easier it is for u to get gold to get ur items, cuz u get money for any team kills u participate in, u cant have the mentality of "im gonna get some basic items to support my team with, then buy wards and sentries and dust", no, it doesnt work like that. with that being said tho, if u do end up with shit supports, if u just stay alive until like min 60 or more, aka the other team isnt good enough to finish it, then sniper is most likely to win, cuz everybody is 6 slotted, they are harder to kill, ur defending high ground, u just gotta stand way the fuck back, and kill them while they try to kill ur teammates. that is of course assuming u know what items to get against the enemy team, and also ur team is only bad at support awareness, but not actually bad at their heroes.

I haven't played the game in ages and this video is already close to 2 years ago, but what would help Sniper is something which IceFrog really hates to do. And that's reverting back to old concepts and abilities. Shrapnel was reworked, because at the time, Sniper had very little -CM representation and wasn't even popular in Pubs. That was largely due to how people played him, maxing out his passives, and ignoring Shrapnel. Shrapnel did indeed do less damage, however it also damaged buildings. With its small CD, long cast range, good AoE, and the help of a Soul Ring, you could quite safely and effectively push out towers. His other main issue was survivability, and that was quite easily handled with an Armlet, which back then was stronger. Incorporating that building destroying concept back into his kit, as a talent will sufficiently boost his utility. Even if you're 0/10/5 or smth like that, the fact that you can push out lanes and provide advantage to your team more than makes up for it

lion- who buys blink and ags before most important support items. And saves ult in fight which gets your core dead just enough for him to see low hp to zap opponent dead. Rubick- greedy sup who is only thinking of what to steal and comes to help in lane and takes away all my creep wave with a zap and has no idea what he did to my farm. Sniper support- says he wont last hit but goes jungle before helping cores and is busy all the way end farming jungle to complete his first item septer. Pudge- who misses great hook to win fights but only manages to hook opponent without knowing he is 1 and they are 4 together. Then goes voice chat shouting where is every one. Legion commander- who gets ags and destroys team fight for your own teamates.

I think sniper can be viable as a last pick mid where you account for disables and gap-closers. If the enemy team has a meh draft on either of those sniper can do well with a hurricane pike and a (bear with me here) blink dagger for quick repositioning. But if you pick snooper vs a PA, qop, am, really anything with a built in "here I am" ability, you're gonna get squished like the bug you are on that hero. Also, a big part is just showing yourself early in a teamfight. If you show yourself early, you get jumped 100% of the time. If you wait for 2-3 heroes to engage on someone else, you have more a clear shot (huehuehue) at counter-engaging

The good old days when sniper and troll on the same team was a guaranteed +60% winrate in 6k pubs.

I play core lion only to stun and hex, basically disabling. At max level, you get 2.4 seconds on stun and a 4 second hex, meaning enemy hero can be disabled for 6.6 seconds in total, more than enough time for your team to kill the enemy.

I don't play dota 2 anymore so I just watch these for the intro and the outro

My standard offlane in Archon/Divine Pubs are Pudge+Lion, every second game people pick it and just either play bad or get carried
