My favorite, most life changing, cruise ever was three years ago to Antarctica. Thank you for sharing this particular video. One cannot fathom the beauty of Antarctica at every turn: every shade of blue and green. Worth every farthing.

My mum and I are planning and saving up for our holiday in Antarctica which we’ll be going on before I start grade 12. This video has really helped us with our options of what to do and your other video about Antarctica (worst parts) has prepped us for what we may endure. I love your videos so much! Cheers from Australia

Thanks Gary! This is definitely on my bucket list and has been for a very long time. I'm really happy that you are doing these videos as it reassures me that my goals are proper and achievable. I would love to hear about how it was for you traveling to the ship for embarkation and back home again. I'm guessing that might have been an adventure in itself. Thanks again.

We went to Antarctica this year and really enjoyed it. 🇦🇶 We sailed from Buenos Aires to Cape Horn and down the Antarctica. It’s so beautiful and pristine. We love Paradise Bay and the scenery and Elephant Island made me feel sorry for Shackleton Expedition. We saw so many animals. I didn’t think it was too cold in fact it was colder in the USA than it was in Antarctica I could see myself doing this cruise again. I hope that anyone reading this will look into an Antarctica Cruise 🚢 🇦🇶 🛳

Loving your videos Gary - I travel quite a bit as well, and loved my Quark Expedition to Antarctica, and my Hurtigruten circumnavigation of Svalbard. To answer one of the questions posted here: the companies provide you with a very nice, warm hooded parka in their colors so I have a Quark Yellow and a Hurtigruten Red. The cost is included. A simple trick to remember animal locations: one looks up at Polar Bears and looks one for Penguins. Cheers - as I tell my children, I have a lot of ground to cover before the ground covers me!

My goodness, I have NEVER heard Gary gush. You can tell he’s not used to it. I have to say this video is very clear and he makes his points in a well reasoned manner. I loved his info on penguins. If I ever get a very large sum of money, I would like to have enough left over after taking care of necessities to take a Silver Cloud tour. Nate and Kara have just done (Feb. 2020) a cruise on a less than luxurious ship, but still, their excitement at the privilege of being there was just as enormous as Gary. I want to thank Gary for making this video. Very informative and very seductive.

We're doing an Antarctica cruise this December. Our cruise includes camping one night on the continent. Did you spend the night on the continent? I'd like to hear from someone who's done that. The descriptions in our itinerary essentially say we won't get a good nights sleep. I suppose it's like when they asked the astronauts on the Moon to go to sleep. Watching your video has me amped up for Antarctica, I can't wait.

I am covering this more in next week’s video. Many of the lines do solo deals on some cruises with 15% to 25% surcharge and some none. The 10-night Silversea cost about £8,000 / $10,000. A longer 3-week trip on Ponant next year I’m looking at is £14,000 / $18,000. So costly ...

How physically fit must one be do this cruise?
@tipsfortravellers
@tipsfortravellers 5 жыл бұрын
There was a range but most people were fairly active and fit as there is climbing in and out of zodiacs, and the landings. The hikes are pretty hard but if people are not active or fit they stuck to the zodiac cruising and did not do the hikes. But to get the most being a bit able and fit makes a difference

Have you considered a cruise through the Canadian routes of the Northwest Passage? They are still "virgin" travel territory as well. The Canadian Coast Guard and now Naval presence is increasing in the area as tourist traffic goes up. The sea ice diminishes a bit every year and now help is nearby lest your ship gets stuck in it.

Thanks for this. I'm saving up to go for the solar eclipse in 2021. The cruzes seem a bit more expensive than what you said. Of course they will make extra bc of the eclipse being viewable near the continent. One thing I noticed is some are selling out already. Also, the ones without landing parties bury that info near the bottom of big web pages. Buyer beware. I would love to do the multi-landing tour you did. I will definitely look into Silverseas/Silver Cloud. And... read the fine print.

Hello Gary....What's the expected cost of a cruise to Antarctica???
@buccarastaa
@buccarastaa 3 жыл бұрын
It feels uncrowded because all the cruise companies who go there plan and have quite specific timetables which means no more than 1 ship is in any bay or area at any one time. If you are planning on visiting, go soon, because plans are for another 50 cruise ships to visit there in the next 5 years
