Robert Parish and Kevin Mchale might have ended up being average players. But because Larry Bird was such a great passer, he created opportunities for his teammates and made them better.

The category here is "greatest passers," but the people who made the video seem to think erroneously that one needs assist records to be in the top 5. Assists and passing artistry may be related, but they're NOT the same thing. If they're looking for the greatest passers, Larry Bird and Pete Maravich both must be in the top 5.

Putting Westbrook over Bird is a joke. Westbrook spent much of his career passing just to pad his stats and shoot for triple doubles. Bird on the other hand passed to win championships. He had eyes in the back of his head.

Larry Legend should have been in the 5 spot. Not only would his highlight reel include many of the most beautiful passes in NBA history, but he also established the model of a big man that can pass--one that is now seen in players like LeBron and Jokic. It should also be mentioned that Wilt Chamberlain led the league in assists in the 67-68 season.

Without a doubt #1 in my book is White Chocolate, Jason Williams. He made passes others could not do and had court vision second to none. He was the White Harlem Globetrotters all by himself. If you are unfamiliar with him he has a lot of KZfaq videos. Watch and you will be amazed. The biggest thing holding back his name as a passing great is that he played for Sacramento and got almost no air time or post season time.

I am very amazed that Larry bird was not included. His accuracy on the full court passes was unmatched. His court vision was off the chart. He could no look, behind the back, and over the head with quickness and precision.

Russell Westbrook? That's ridiculous. The other four belong here, though Jason Kidd was a far better passer than Oscar Robertson. Any list without Larry Bird is lacking. He didn't have as many assists because he was a forward, but only Magic could match his creativity or court vision.

Nobody was a far greater passer than Oscar. Did you ever see him play live. I did. In his prime which was before 1966 he was virtually the best at everything. Cousy was the 1st great modern passer & 3X the passer Westbrook ever was. In fact, in this century for sheer passing Ginobili was the best.

Westbrook is definitely not a better passer than lebron, kidd, cp3 or jokic. Just because he put up a high assist total thanks to a ridiculous usage rate doesn't mean he's a better passer than any of those guys.

Westbrooks usage rate wasnt any higher than any other point guard.The man could just flat out pass the basketball.His outside shot was iffy at times.His decision making wasn't always the best,but nah the man could pass the ball.

@@ralphgreenwood2469 that's just not true. Only one point guard has a higher career usage rate than Westbrook, Westbrook has the single highest usage rate for a season in NBA history and 2 of the 5 highest. He also is a ridiculous turnover machine which counts against him.

@@DeadSezSo My point was that Westbrook is a great passer.That cannot be denied or down played as you are trying to do.Just googling stats is not how u define a player.If that is the case Wilt Chamberlain is the greatest player in NBA history( I am willing to bet you don't agree with that) and Kobe isn't great because he missed more shots than anyone else.If Westbrook has a higher usage rate(I am not even sure what usage rate means)than Oscar Robertson,Kevin Porter,John Stockton even Larry Bird who touched the ball every time down the court.Sometimes Two or three times per possession.Its only by percentage points.Give me a list of the top usage guys and if your point is well taken I will certainly acknowledge it

According to my eye test: Magic Johnson, Jason Kidd, Larry Bird, Isiah Thomas, Mark Jackson; with honorable mention going to Ernie DiGregorio. In my opinion, Stockton's numbers are inflated given that he played 19 seasons, played in the same system, and 63% of his assist went to Karl Malone; who, at one point, was 2nd on the all time points scored list. Even in an NBA All-Star game, Karl Malone and John Stockton shared the game's MVP award. Also, Magic and Isiah only played 12 and 13 seasons, respectively.

Bird, Jokic, Isiah Thomas of the Pistons. How about Wilt Chamberlain that lead the league in assists from the center position? Nash belongs in the top five, but to say he was a better passer than Magic defies what the rest of us witnessed. Nash had a long career that Magic didn't. That pads his life time stats.

I've been watching NBA for 40 years. Bird was an amazing passer, better than Westbrook no doubt. Westbrook, although a 1st ballot HOFer, he should not be in the top 5 passer list. Stockton....hard to NOT put him on the list. But IMO, the best passer may just be Jokic. The Joker is as good a passer as Magic, Stockton, or anyone else I've ever seen.

Oscar & Nash (a distant 2nd) were the best at shooting/scoring & passing/playmaking at the highest level AT THE SAME TIME. Cousy was the 1st great modern passer/playmaker & ranks with Oscar & Magic at the top.

The greatest passer and most creative ball handler I ever saw...even though he was a shooting guard, not a point (which is why his assist levels were between 6 and 7 rather than higher as he was the one his teams were trying to feed), no one knew what he was going to do with the ball because most of the time, no one had ever seen it before...and sometimes, since....kzfaq.infoNlknDloITGA

This list is a joke since Jason Kidd is not in the top3. He made more than anybody else other than Stockton and had a flair better than anybody else other than Magic Johnson. He was incredible at creating nobodies into somebodies or avarege players into good players with his passing. Westbrook? He dominates the ball but is a turnover machine as well. I would choose not only Kidd, but Bird, Chris Paul, Bogues, Isiah Thomas, Nikola Jokic, Doncic, Rod Strickland, Mark Jackson as well. And none of them is on your list. Lol.
