The 5 Jobs I Did in the Army

I finally found the motivation to buckle down and make this after sitting on the script for about a year. I’ve talked about the military in some of my content previously, but I wanted to produce something that I could look back on, both as a content creator and as a veteran. I’d like people to view it as an honest take on how much of a bummer the Army can be, but also how many opportunities there are within it. Additionally, I hope it will encourage leaders to keep an eye out for opportunities to help the people under their purview. Anyway, let me know what you think down in the comments.

Hey man I'm a corpsman in the navy and I feel you. They sent me to optometry at Walter Reed for two years. I eventually got to go to Marine Division and a line company, but man those first two years sucked lol. Also pretty sure the machine in optometry was called a pentacam lol

I know that feel. I was a Combat Engineer assigned to the headquarters company in the reserve. My job was basically pissing in a cup, cleaning the Reserve center, and PMCS on vehicles that get used like twice a year besides the 2 weeks in the summer. Add that to the fact I wanted to be a firefighter/MP when I joined but settled when told I couldn't do either of those because tickets and lack of training slots. The only redeeming was a deployment in my last year where I was reassigned to an active duty engineer unit doing route clearance. But by then it was too late and I didn't choose to reinlist.

My grandfather on my dad side was in Army during Korea war and he was a lineman and I have met some the people who know that served in Vietnam war and they have some pretty crazy stories

Very cool. I actually got to meet a guy that was celebrating his 99th birthday yesterday. World war 2 vet and former mortar man. There aren’t many of those experiences left for us.

What do you do civilian side for medicine, I might do something medical when I’m out as a job while I go to school if I can but I’m curious

I work in an orthopedic clinic for a PMR doctor. So we do the conservative procedures for the clinic. Ultrasound guided injections, nerve burns, etc. it’s just a medical Assistant gig, but I’m thinking about going back to school.

The bar for a combat badge is low, very low. Our shoppette ran out of CABs like 3 days after we had incoming IDF that landed like 200m outside the wire. Everyone got one. I was in the middle of sleeping when it hit. So unless you got a legitimate medal for valor and the citation to back it up, I don't really give a shit if you have a badge or patch. Hell, my PL got a bronze star and all she did was sit at the TOC flying her remote control toy helicopter. Lol.
