If you're in the music production business, you've probably already noticed that there are several types of reverb. There are in fact 5 main types of reverb on the market today. But what are the characteristics of each? How can you tell them apart? Does each type of reverb have a unique tone?
In this video, I'll give you all the information you need to be able to recognize and differentiate each type of reverb and use them correctly in your mixes or productions.
You'll see that by knowing the 5 types of reverb that exist on the market, you'll be much more efficient and faster in your decisions, which is essential in music production!

Great explanation , do you put reverb on snare,toms and room mics or only the room ? , which ones is prefered for drums ? Thanks

When I mix drums I almost always put a reverb on the entire kit to give more glue within the mix. For the snare drum, it really depends on the song honestly. I generally go for medium/short plates or chambers (I love VerbSuite Classics hahah as you can see), and it's quite the same for toms but I generally choose something a little longer with a long predealy to detach them from the mix. These aren't the genres I work in but you should try a comination of room and chamber, something rich and powerful you know, my best advice is to try!

Awesome vid! Can you recognise the kick-ass reverb used on the vocals in "Need you tonight" by INXS? Is it room or short plate perhaps? Maybe a video of examples of different reverbs used in hit songs on vocals would be cool! Merci!!
