It's funny that I've moved from LA in June '23 and know almost nothing about Vancouver (I'm live in Ridgefield now), but agree with your statements - Vancouver and Portland, Oregon and Washington is different, despite the same nature and climate

I like the idea of going back to 'Fort Vancouver' as Vancouver's name. That would guarantee that a search would turn up the Washington State Vancouver and not Vancouver B.C.
