The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

I think Dream should be in the goat debate he was that good and I would argue he is the best center. He had some pretty bad teams he played with in a stacked conference western conference during his prime. Still find it amazing he managed to get 2 rings. When people say the super teams would beat the bulls, I use the example if Dream went to the bulls like what happens today, that’s the only fair comparison and we all know what would have happen if they did team up.

I like to make a case for Stockton and Malone deserving a spot on the list. Even though they never won the championship (partly thanks to Jordan and Pippen) they have always been consistently good. There was not a single season where they missed the playoffs, which even some of the best players ever couldn’t say. Not only that, there are few duos who are more uniquely tied together like Stockton and Malone. They’ve played with each other for 18 seasons, far more than most duos. In that timeframe, Stockton has the most assists ever while Malone has the third most points ever. There has been multiple debates on who elevated the other, even though Malone was usually in the MVP conversation. Most duos couldn’t say that as there’s often a clear top dog among them.

In terms of chemistry, understanding of roles, and synergy; Magic and Kobe would be a complete mismatch as a tandem. I agree with MJ and Scottie being the best duo. Can't think of a better duo in NBA history. The honorable mentions list is great too, and I can see Russell and Cousy being in the top 5 also (though, as you said, it is tough to rank the duos). I love the new way you are showing the stats. Mike & Scottie are 2 of 3 players (+ Hakeem) to record 200 steals & 100 blocks in a single season. Jordan is the only one to do it twice (in back to back seasons) and he averaged 37 & 35 ppg while doing so. MJ led the league in steals three times, Scottie once. Jordan has a DPOY, Pippen does not. Contrary to the Mandela effect, Michael was the primary defender on Magic Johnson (for the '91 finals and before that) not Scottie.
@QuestionEverything562
@QuestionEverything562 9 ай бұрын
Well said. I always thought MJ was the better perimeter defender because of his foot speed, it was more difficult to get by him. MJ stuck to shooters' bodies better too. Scottie was a great free safety defender that could float anywhere, a great help defender, but he often lost track of shooters and wasn't as versatile as people try to make him out to be. He could legit guard 1 thru 3, but not actual legit 4s or 5s. When he got switched onto Barkley in the 93' Finals on some possessions, that was a mandatory double team. I think MJ achieved more as a defender and was more lockdown on the perimeter than Pip. They both struggled to guard smaller quicker scoring guards post 1995 though.
@EddieWoodsRemnantOutreach
@EddieWoodsRemnantOutreach 9 ай бұрын
That part about MJ being the primary defender on Magic, so many people act like that wasn't the case and because of narrative, younger people have no clue. Pip spelled Mike more after the first game but Mike was still primary on him... Having both of them focus in on Magic, that's just crazy. That was the doberman defense in full force along with Horace defending the paint

You mean Klay's #2 is Dray. You saw that the Warriors could insert any good scorer, like KD, and Steph becomes irrelevant. The two pieces that are mandatory are Klay & Dray. Draymond's D was more important in all 4 title years. Even when Steph won Finals MVP it was Dray's consistent Defense on Jaylen Brown that changed the series. Steph could only muster 15 points in Game 5 but it didn't matter because Dray's defense is what really mattered.

@@southwest1988 I agree, but they lost to the Celtics and Knicks 2x in the Finals though. They should have beat the Celtics in 69' and the Knicks in 70'. I can understand the 73' Finals loss, they were old and done by then. They had West, Baylor, and Wilt for like 4 of those years, and just underachieved. Those squads were title or bust teams. You look at Johnny's top 6, they all won multiple titles together as tandems. Those late 60s and early 70s Lakers teams had 3 legit superstars in their primes essentially, maybe only the 2022 Nets have had that much offensive star fire power since.

This would be the best duo ever by far. Every dream duo I've seen people list has 2 great offensive players who are average defenders. I've read a lot of people commenting how a duo of Shaq , curry would be unstoppable on offense and it's true because curry would get a lot of open looks from 3 because shaq would be getting doubled and tripled teamed in the paint and vice versa. But on defense Shaq was good but not elite especially outside of the paint and Steph is avg on defense. Mj and Hakeem are probably the best 2 way players ever

Your crazy the top duo was Baylor and West! They both averaged 27 points a game together, that is sharing a basketball.

Jokic and steph yeah defense is questionable but damn it its the perfect offensive duo. Curry's off ball movement and shooting + Jokic's inside dominance and playmaking

As for my duo of all time: I’ll take prime Joe Fulks (sure his prime was Pre-NBA, but he still did play) and Mikan. They definitely won’t be the best duo suggested, but like all pre-70s ball I need more.

Haven't watched it yet, but I'm going to assume that it's MJ and Pip. I think they're the only two that work both in a team and 2 vs 2 setting. Both can defend, which is more important when it's a half court game with no full-court press or zone to bother your offense. Yes, other duos have centers, but what happens when that duo is playing defense? That's a wide open shot that's worth more points. Some of these players are great because there are 4 others around them that they can either get a pick from, or pass the ball to. I'll say this as a hot take that really shouldn't be a hot take...Pip has a deeper bag than LeBron.

My ideal duo would be Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson. Offensively, the way Magic could dime MJ, finding creative and acrobatic ways to drive to the basket, would be an offensive nightmare. On defence it would be just as bad. MJ is one the greatest defensive players of all-time. I don't have too much knowledge on Magic's defense but I know he had to versatility to play all 5 positions, implying Magic was also a defensive nightmare.

It took a 72 wins Bulls with the addition of The Worm and home court advantage in the deciding Game 6 to beat Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp's SuperSonics. And if Steve Nash's and Amare Stoudemire didn't break the rules unintentionally in Game 4 of the 2007 Western Conference Finals against Tim Duncan's Spurs, they could've been champions and cementing both their legacies.
