I am a Nighthawk owner and dealer. I can say that for 6k, I better not see tooling marks from milling on the slide! Look in the bottom of the rear coking serrations. That would have been on the fastest return ticket ever! That's the sort of stuff I expect on $500 and $1500 production guns. Thanks for the review and effort you put in as always.

Thanks for your honesty. Once upon a time American guns were the best in the world. Kudos to the boutique folks for trying to get that reputation back from the corporate failures that are American gun industry now. It can be done. but you need Steve Jobs obsessiveness to get there. And American consumers who demand it.

Yup 😂 I was that guy. I over inserted a few times causing catastrophic malfunctions with a 26 round stacatto mag. The extractor was damaged. Stacatto paid for overnight shipping and I had the gun back on the 7th day. Approximately 1700 rounds since the class and Zero Malfunctions but I’m only running mags with the proper baseplates now. Coming from Glock , that was never an issue but.. lesson learned. That Nighthawk was super smooth BTW. Great content as always. Thanks for sharing with the community.

You can do that with any slide lock pistol. Some manufacturers try and idiot proof them with the base plate. (I am not calling you an idiot). People need to understand that slide lock pistols have a different manual of arms versus striker fired.

Same, a buddy of mine pointed out that Glock mags actually have a ledge built in at the top left side of the mag (if you are facing the round count of the mag) and a ledge inside of the grip to prevent over insertion

@@ronney2a I can confirm that what you said is 100% correct. I have slammed 17 round mags in G19’s, 33 round mags in G17/G34’s for over 15 years and never had that experience. Still love the 2011 platform and find it superior in many ways. Great discourse.

I have both a NHC TRS Commander and TRS Comp , Yes I'm a lucky bastard. Both have IOS and I switch my RMR from one to the other all the time. Two guns One RMR works for me . Both AWESOME

Nighthawks are definitely on my bucket list of guns, but not a $6k one. Plus, I’ve never shot a DS 1911 or a 2011, so all I know are single stack types. Maybe one day I’ll try one. As always, nice video guys!

I have broken several ejectors in my officer’s model 1911 using full size mags. Once I figured out what I was doing it was an easy fix.

Im a meprolight adjustable night sights kind of guy. And i can hit an 8 inch gong at 60 yards with them sights, yes thats 180 feet. Now, i do run red dots on ar pistols and rifle. Its really all preference.

Anotehr reaon to disable slide lock on a competition 2011: Using a thinner follower to increase basepad will cause the gun to go to slide lock with a round in the mag still. If you want max capacity, disabling the slide lock is mandatory regardless of gun reliability or ejector safety. Ex: A 20 round STI/Staccato mag can hold 22 rounds with a TTI basepad and Grams internals, but you'll only be able to reliably fire the first 21 rounds unless you have an immobile/disabled slide lock.

For holsters, check out Hammer Armament. I have their lightning holster built for a Staccato XC w/ X300, and it fits my Staccato P, PT H-TAC, Atlas Athena and SVI.

Let’s seeee Type-A 11.5” Contractor…check, Bul Armory Trophy…check, Knight’s Armory SR15…check, Staccato C2…check, Wilson Combat EDC…check, NightHawk GRP double stack 5”…check, Sig Rattler/Canebrake…check and Korth in process. Now maybe a few of these are a stretch like the GRP.(Goddamn TFBTV & James Reeves could sell a ketchup sandwich to a girl in a fu(king prom dress & the reason I own TWO Manurhin MR73’s) Yes my retiring anytime near where I thought I might a few years ago is no longer a reality but boy I’ve enjoyed the ride!🤑 Keep it up boys I ain’t goin nowhere!

Not sure what this does that their other models don't do. They may market it for "competition" but it has no competition features. As you mentioned: no magwell, heavy trigger, small safety, and functioning grip safety. An Atlas Titan is a grand less, has a substantially shorter wait time, and is actually configured for competition. Disclaimer: I have a Titan and I'm biased.

Dude if it’s not ported ,even infinity none 5” ported guns become vanilla, the Atlas Erebus shoots faster than my 5”none ported infinity. I will add mine has the same recoil impulse as a staccato XC which is impressive.

Over inserting these long mags can happen on any pistol, and it not JUST a 1911 thing. Maybe the 1911 is more sensitive, but you can break a Glock too

@@Chrisblau In USPSA that pistol may qualify for Optics division not sure but there it would be fine. In open, you would be at a significant disadvantage. The pistols are heavier, have large comps, rail mounted optics that do not reciprocate, ect. My XC and Erebus are a step behind in high end open and the Nighthawk would be as well.
