Airbus has rolled out what it says will be the sixth and final Beluga XL freighter at its plant in Toulouse, France. Based on the A330-200 and featuring a special livery design, the aircraft joins five similar planes helping the manufacturer to keep up with production schedules at its plants worldwide.

It’s really cute. This “cargo whale’s” livery for me might be comes to life (with its “mouth & eyes” move). Also, much better than the “tumor-shaped” Dreamlifter (or I called it the “Tumorlifter”), even both are useful for carrying parts of the plane or an ovesized cargo.

@@ibxgameryt9449wo reasons: 1. Basing the aircraft on the A330 rather than the neo allows them to build these aircraft without interrupting the neo line. With respect to the charter market, how does the Airbus Beluga Transport compare to other outsized cargo carriers like Volga-Dnepr? So, how do the cargo volumes compare? Changing the topic to livery, it's a friendly design. However, if I have a choice, the ribbon goes to ANA's Honu livery on their A380s.
@ktmf2

If you need to move something really heavy, the beluga or belugaXL isn't particularly capable. The dreamlifter has more than twice the payload capacity, and an An-124 has thrice the payload capacity. However, the cargo volume of the BelugaXL is second to none as far as I know.

Pure speculation here, but I would assume that it makes economic sense to develop a whole new platform for the logistical challenge of transporting aircraft parts.
