Sacha Baron Cohen sure makes it look easy to convince participants to dress up in fake genitalia, eat human flesh, and even kill a man. These are seven of the most shocking stunts from the first season of his Showtime series Who Is America? Get ready to cringe so hard you’ll fall off of your chair.

It’s so interesting. @@MarcillaSmith Let's clarify a few points. The "experiment" in the Milgram study was fake; no one was getting electrocuted. So your remark that "to experiment for science would be unethical" is confused. What some claimed was immoral was letting people even *think* that they were electrocuting people, even if they were not. I've never understood that argument; no one was coercing the subjects, and no harm came to them except profound but well-earned embarrassment. Secondly, *unlike* the Milgram experiment, this was not a study of authority, but of sheer stupidity and depraved morality. The "subjects", if one wants to call them that, voluntarily participate in what they believe is killing, encouraging toddlers to use guns, and so forth, out of their own sick ideology and hatred. What is immoral about exposing them? They are the quintessence of immorality; the messenger is not.

The last one reminds me of the Milgram experiment. You just need to be perceived as an authority figure in order to make people do things they would normally never do in normal circumstances. This is why we have cases like the underage female employee that was raped at McDonald by the manager's boyfriend because a "police officer" told him to over the phone.

I think (if you watch the whole episode, not just the clip above) that the food critic realizes he's being pranked, when he's served ethically sourced "Vegan-fed Chinese Dissident". There's a moment where he looks really disturbed, horrified even, and then suddenly it goes away and he seems to get right into the spirit of it, up to thanking the guy's family and everything, without the slightest hesitation. I think he must have realized at that moment it was a set-up, that he was being trolled, and he just decides to play along with it after that.
