@@reaudimills7947 i had all of that...but man,there is hope,, for one I did kind of go back and recheck my form on all my movements.. especially bench... I make sure my shoulders blades are pinched together.. having someone to get the weight out of the rack is helpful... I also ordered one of those posture correctors. And would wear it. In my car mostly..but sometimes on chest day..... another big thing besides having my shoulders pinch together.. I do more of a power bench press.. never straight up and down.. I can now pause 250 on my chest ..with ease and no shoulder pain.... never ever do front delt exercises.. never.. and just what I get from shoulder press...

@@saltypatriot1768 I'll definitely need to focus on my form more. I tried using a lighter weight yesterday when I went to do so, but I didn't until I had already exhausted myself, so I wasn't able to really focus on form as well as I'd've liked. I appreciate you responding and I'm glad to hear things are going well for you!

If you are in your late 40s-60, not a light weight person say over 180 and have a previous shoulder injury, avoid dips. Yes, I have good form. I’m a former personal trainer. You will hurt your shoulders worse, and have a longe unwanted rest or limited upper body workouts. When he says he knows we are afraid of dips, we should be.

Dips have always been my favorite and I thought I knew how to do them. Then I watched a gymnast do them. Really deep to where the shoulders are dipped to the bar. I went from sets of 30 the old way to 20 and then 15. I could tell they really were superior, as for the first time I felt it in my chest and not just my triceps.

He def mentioned trap involvement w/ the pecs. For my it’s my shoulders that like to contribute. I would try a rep w/ your good side and try your best to replicate the exact mechanical position on the bad side. Ik when I do curls my traps love to jump in on my left side, I gotta really watch that

Hey, Ryan, I personally struggle finding that connection really well with my chest for dips. I would love to use the exercise but maybe it’s simply due to the fact that I’ve never done it well. Are negative movements the path forward here? I get tons of tingly nerve action on the outer (I guess ulnar side) of my forearms when doing dips or I feel as though, like you said, I lose the connection to my triceps and shoulders. Keep doing what you do. It’s great.
@paulomartins1008
@paulomartins1008 3 жыл бұрын
Buy a heavy band, saddle it on the handles, get into the dip position and support your knees on the band (you can rest on one strip or two). Then lunge your chest forward, tilt your legs back and slowly release the tension on your triceps and forearms. This should put you in a semi-horizontal position kind of like one of those funky push-ups where you put your hands way back. Use the advantage of the band to really connect with the stretch in your pecs as you get those elbows to a roughly 90° angle. Then just push from that position initiating with the chest fibres. Once you get it you can go into regular dips, and once that becomes easy use the band reversed, resting on your traps like a barbel squat. Also from what you've said about forearms, gripping tighly is very important, the temptation to just rest your palms is very big but that puts tremendous stress on the carpal process and thus tingles your tendons. Let me know if this helps.

It is kind of a headfake. I mean, if you are doing say coffin presses at 35's you may think you look weak to others but when in a couple of months you are now using 60's you will be quite strong and big if you ate and rested as you should. Don't kid yourself. The 'light' weight will go up by necessity!

According to my dr, I have degenerative discs in my lower back ( Not making excuses so stfu). I have issues with anything bench related. Flat, incline, whatever. I can do the weight and reps, no problem, but I can’t get off the bench without rolling off the side when I’m done. Any guidance you can provide would be much appreciated. Thanks
