That's right guys, there is more than one galaxy in the Star Wars universe. Watch to find out how many.
Today we dive DEEP into some weird lore, and we look a the 9 galaxies that exist and are named within the Expanded Universe. We're digging deep into comics, old TV shows, and legends books for some of these... plus... The Clone Wars. If you've ever wondered how many galaxies there are in Star Wars, whether there are other galaxies, where the Yuuzhan Vong came from, what the Rishi Maze is, or where the Firethis is for you!

No it's far more likely that any lifeforms that hate other lifeforms don't EVER use ships to fight other ships, nor do they use weapons that fire light, heat, or metal when there is tons of rock available to simply throw at a target. Star Destroyers are manned by morons. The Star Destroyers have tractor beams, simply grab a huge fookin asteroid, toss it at Hoth and laugh as the Rebels all die.

Heres a bit of an interesting fact you didn't seem to clarify: the Star Wars Galaxy is never referred by-name by its inhabitants at all, the only people that do give it a name is the inhabitants of Companion Besh _"Firefist"_ ; the Nokai who live in _Firefist_ refer to the main galaxy as _"Skyriver"_ which is the closest we've gotten to an official name for The Galaxy proper.

Oooh, edgy looking aliens from another galaxy that are immune to most force attacks and hate technology while using bio-technology. Sorry but no. It works better in a comic book or maybe even a cartoon. Not as a main movie. George Lucas himself didn't give a damn about most of the EU. Why would they make a movie in a franchise that Lucas created, about a story that Lucas had nothing to do with and cared nothing about?

Our galaxy actually also has several different smaller galaxies orbiting it. Most notably the large and small Magellanic Clouds (though maybe they don't actually orbit). It's theorized that they're remanents of older galaxies that our galaxy absorbed billions of years ago. So in a few billion years we'll have another galaxy orbiting the new galaxy that will be created when the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies collide.

Hyperdrive actually is a pocket dimension (not sure if legends or canon) and allow ships to travel in a dimension that is like the nether in mine craft. Take 1 step inside gets you 5 steps in the normal galaxy. So not only they travel at the speed of light they also jump through a pocket dimension, so it's easily possible, but it's going to take much longer than going from one side of the galaxy to the other.

So it could be counted as legends canon but the rishi maze also held or holds some strange mysterious species who seem to know the sith language, rakata and gree. In the old republic mmo theres a quest only sith inquisitors get on the planet of rishi involving the rishi maze and some arays that were built by a member of the sphere of ancient knowledge. Whoever the species was contacted the member and gave him information on how to improve the arays. They also stated they needed someone who was "twice transmuted and reborn by the mother." Only the latest addition to the sith empire dark council Darth Nox fit the description. The arays when used in conjunction with Nox's particular past increased the dark lords lifespan by one solar cycle each. The quest had four arays to interact with but it was a taste of immortality. The arays increased cellular regeneration and increased lifespan. Just thought I'd mention that little interesting fact.

Remember this quote "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away". it could be possible that one of those Galaxies as you said toward the end may be the milky way. You see all of this could have happened in galactic history to us hundreds of thousands of years ago if not millions of years ago in another galaxy. So therefore we could exist (as a plane) but humans aren't around yet on earth or even space faring.

I wonder how recent intergalactic travel is in Star Wars relative to the Battle of Yavin. Obviously, intragalactic travel had existed for tens of thousands, and I think over a hundred thousand years by that point. But, given that there was some very limited contact between the main galaxy and others- and the noticeable uptick of extragalactic contacts and invaders after the events of Episode 6- it begs the question of when the first extragalactic contact was made, and how long travel between the nearby cluster of galaxies takes (nearby being a relative term). I also find it interesting that during all this, there's still essentially an entire section of the galaxy (that being the Unknown Regions), what seems to be a fourth to a third of it, that remains almost entirely unexplored. And, further yet, probably a sizable amount of the Outer Rim that is poorly if at all charted at the extreme fringes of the galaxy and beyond. And none of that at all takes into account the depths of deep space, all of that assumingely open area that lies between known and inhabited solar systems, nebula, gas clouds and other major galactic features that were easy to initially spot and discover during the earliest days of space flight, exploration and hyperspace travel. Who's knows what's out there? It could be anything from starless rogue planets that telescopes- or whatever sensors they use- can barely spot, to dark gas clouds or asteroid fields around dead, lightless stars, or something entirely different, like some sentient, advanced race from the depths of space living in artificial worlds that are hard to detect. I'd love to see a video on the topics above that explore whatever available media has been written about them.

The Rishi Maze is also home to some interesting tech. In SWTOR, as part of the Rishi Inquisitor storyline you end up receiving the benefits of some technology (which reverses aging) whose schematics are broadcast from that area. The technology is said to be EXTREMELY advanced, and is said to have elements of ancient Sith, ancient Gree, and Rakatan technologies. It's possible that an early coalition of these empires populated the Rishi maze, but were cut off from the rest of the galaxy somehow, or one of the species (and it really could have been any of them) simply captured and adapted some of this tech.

Most of the stories really are rather boring, but I highly recommend doing at least the first three chapters (aka the main story) for the Inquisitor, the Knight, and the agent as all are both interesting and extremely informative. Also that much of the game is free.

Also, there existed another Galaxy that had advanced cellular-level technology that was also engulfed in war, the final stages of that war involved the development of a type of ship called a Mecho-organic ship, equal parts of machine and living spacecraft that held a direct pilot-ship symbiosis to operate it. At one point in this galaxy, the inhabitants used Mecho-organic vessels to wage war until one such group in a last ditch effort to spite their enemy unleashed a Plague Bomb on the opposing factions homeworld, instantly killing off everyone on the planet... but the Plague itself can spread on a galactic scale that eventually sterilized all organic life in that galaxy. The only still-living record of this is the last Mecho-organic ship adrift in the Void between galaxies, its Pilot and the ship losing their own distinction after continuous interfacing with the core system. the resulting entity simply known as Ship began playing games with itself to keep its mind preoccupied from the horrors its pilot had experienced so it wouldn't suffer from dealing with loss and sadness after all this time. Said ship also possesses weaponry that isn't found or even developed anywhere else such as Anti-matter pods capable of annihilating even an Imperial-class Star Destroyer and its crew instantly with one blast.

I really do hope they explore different galaxies to show the progression of the main galaxy and its technology. Maybe that's where Snoke comes from, another galaxy. He could be from a race that unlike humans in the main galaxy, that progresses through spirituality rather than technology. They could be a modern canon version of the Sith species.....but not as evil.

@Zen-sx5io

The closet in-universe name for the that galaxy is "Skyriver" which was used by the extra-galactic Nagai. Other than that, the inhabitants of that galaxy simply refer to it as "the galaxy".

I never knew what the local group looked like in Star Wars, but after seeing this video, it looks a LOT like our own local group (three spiral galaxies and countless dwarves). Technically all galaxies are "far, far away", so it sounds like it's set in Andromeda (no idea what it's called in-universe). It is a bit small though, with about half the stars Andromeda is supposed to have.

Story element idea!: So to explain why there’s humans, (Suuuuuper elaborate) There are humans in another nearby galaxy- those humans are pretty advanced- at some point they had a war with the galaxy which is the setting of whatever story- this galaxy stole earth with some sort of tech- Earth is somehwere in this galaxy known to some but not all humans- it’s not important weather they know or not- this is how there are humans in the galaxy but not a major force but are involved in said empire- the galaxy with advanced humans arent able to locate earth in other galaxy so they pretty much cut their loss.
