Somehow a show as bland and forgettable as The Acolyte has caused people online to become hysterical. All social norms have been abandoned, all rules of combat have been disregarded, and people are letting their half-baked opinions and grievances with this show fly... also Kathleen Kennedy killed my dog. I'm curious how The Acolyte will end. Because one of the biggest problems I can see is that currently, at least 10 Jedi are dead; 3 Masters, about 6 or so Knights, and a few Padawans, and unless the Jedi Order is so big and has so many Jedi that these deaths just slip through the cracks, wouldn't they at least investigate how and why these 10 died? That'd be like if a number of co-workers just didn't show up for work, and you're wondering what happened to them, and all you know is that they were supposedly killed... wouldn't you want to know what happened to them, or why? Maybe the show has an explanation in the finale, but judging from how things are going right now, I don't have high hopes for the ending going well.

Fantastic video. I’ve been in the camp that the show is just fine so far, and I genuinely think people don’t know what to do with a show like that, and the recent trend of binge models has rotted peoples brains a bit. Of course there’s also the culture war grifters that wanted the show to fail from the start and are purposefully being worse than they already would be if they weren’t trying to be. The amount of people who just don’t wait for a show that is so clearly trying to build a mystery to build its mystery is just insane to me

Hmm. I feel this shows mystery is not very engaging at all. It's also been 6 episodes and so little has occurred. And very little intrigue was generated. Even if the last 2 episodes are amazing 10 outta 10s, the show would still be subpar. Especially considering the talent and funding behind it. If your mystery isn't hooking ppl when it's 6 episodes out of 8 then that's a big issue. Its not terrible or anything but I def wouldn't call it good.

whether or not what Ki adi mundi says is correct or not is irrelevant. Of course palpy exists, but the jedi do not know that yet. He is speaking for the jedi order, otherwise someone would have said something in Ep 1 to refute his statement. why anyone in the order didn't chime in and ask "well what about that other red lightsaber-wielding force user that killed a bunch of jedi masters and called himself a sith? are you sure Qui gon?" is still contrived asf thus far. The order has had no knowlege of the sith existing for over a 1000 years as of Ep1, therefore they've been in hiding.

@Remnicore 8 күн бұрын
@@gravtycat9741 welp, he did just that! Sadly the script dictates he can’t say everything and his comms conveniently don’t work very well… Sol not mentioning anything about the Sith lends credence to what I said about how Qimir wasn’t saying he’s a Sith Lord - he was saying “I have no name, but knowing how you and the Jedi think of anyone who embrace the dark side, you’d probably just call me Sith”. The entire episode all but confirms Qimir isn’t a Sith Lord. There’s even more room for speculation now. He’s a former Jedi from “a long time ago” with scars on his back… did he get them from Vernestra and her lightsaber whip? Maybe it was his former Sith Master? Could he be a rejected Jedi AND Sith apprentice? They played Kylo’s theme again during the credits, he could very well be the first Ren. Sol is about to tell Mae about how and why he and the other Jedi killed everyone and destroyed the entire coven, and Osha is being seduced and is about to fall to the dark side. Everyone has secrets and is conveniently not going to tell other people who could change the course of history - it’s contrived as all hell, I agree, but it’s a prequel. Not a very good one, but still a prequel.

The show isn't bad because of "the canon" or because women have cooties and are scary, it's bad because the screenwriting is poorly crafted in general. The age thing is something I don’t have an issue with. Maybe discovering Osha’s emotional attachments and realising their effect on her (probable) turn to the Dark Side is what drives the Jedi Order to stop recruiting older children. This is an issue that is explained by chronological continuity. Basically, it’s not an issue because the way the treated Anakin happened 100 years after Anakin. I haven’t read High Republic novels, so if this is addressed in them, then I’m wrong. But if not, then what gives?

Dave Filoni was not in charge of creative when this was being made. The writers on this show are NOT expanding on anything. The showrunner called him Sith in interviews. I admire you for trying to give them the benefit of the doubt... but there are just too many instances of doubt. This show has been more tell than show throughout the whole thing. What it seems like is 5 drafts mixed together each written by chatgpt. The very idea that they though eight 30min episodes of characters we have never met to deal with factions and new ideas never done before was enough is beyond me. I love Andor and I cant imagine that show being eight 30 min episodes and still achieving anything it did. Its a show that seem handicapped in its execution, shallow or inconsistent in its writing with barely any impressive direction in art or visuals and still somehow wastes time.

The ki adi Mundi thing annoyed me at first, but then I remembered George Lucas did shit like that all the time. For instance, during the development of a later canceled Darth Maul game, Lucas wanted to incorporate Darth Talon into the game. For those who don't know Darth Talon is a female Twi-lek sith lord from the old EU. She lived over 100 years after the events of the Skywalker story, and correct me if I'm wrong fought against Cade Skywalker Luke's descendant. George didn't care that this character lived a century after Darth Maul died he thought "they should be friends." So he was willing to ignore and invalidate an entire storyline because "they should be friends" The Acolyte has a lot of problems and deserves it's hate to an extent but something like the age of a background character is not worth crying over.

The main detractors of this show decided they didn't like it before the premiere dropped because Leslye Headland made a joke. They are judging it based on culture war nonsense and cinemasins level nitpicks that don't even add up. Don’t agree with all your analysis, but from following your channel, you seem genuine in your takes and that I respect. You mentioned Star Wars fans need to be charitable and wait for the ending of the season before making accusations about the lore but I think the underlying question is whether or not Disney deserves to be given the benefit of the doubt? I think people’s lack of charity towards current Star Wars creators/projects comes from the distrust they have for a media corporation that has continually proven to fail in all areas of the creative process (outside of Andor), not even to mention antagonizing a good majority of their fan base. I feel ya, jumping to conclusions isn’t the smartest intellectual move, but it is hard to blame them for assuming the worst when they’ve been proven right in the past. Keep on making cool videos, I do enjoy your content!

@simpletown323
@simpletown323 7 күн бұрын
I think there's something to be said about the initial response to your post and I think I know why these fans keep masochistically watching the show. Some people like Star Wars Theory (who is not so subtly motivating the content of this video) have gone and made Star Wars the center of their life and even their livelihood. Like a seasonal fisherman, they have to fish when it's in season or when star wars comes out cause that's when engagement is up and money comes in. So there's a financial reason for youtubers. Then there's the people who grew up with the prequels (like theory and myself) where the series is a core foundational pillar of our identity. A lot of my morality and views on the world stem from the prequels like living in the moment and not becoming so attached to anything that I end up becoming destructive in response to losing said thing. For people like us, it's almost impossible to NOT watch Star Wars no matter how bad it gets. The Last Jedi killed me inside but I got over it but some people like theory never did and now they think diseney is coming to ruin their prequels like the sequels did to the og trilogy (luke being a hermit and depressed af, han, luke and leia never getting their on screen reunion etc). But then you have to look at what these hard-core fans are saying and doing in response to disney putting out stuff that doesn't fit their views and understanding of the franchise. They are so far down the darkside that they are literally and unironically acting like anakin in episode 3. They have visions of star wars dying with the birth of each new show and season and in their efforts to cling to their childhood idealisations of the show, they are killing any chance they have of enjoying the current shows and that's led them down a path to hating not just the show, but the women and children who make the show too. Lol. In their blind masochistic quest to "save star wars" and "protect George lucas' vision," they are refusing to meet disney half way and come into these shows in bad faith and enabling the worst people in the community to go and hurl racist, sexist, and homophobic shir at the creators. I get that the fans have had to endure so much garbage from disney and that some of the creators and people in the company have come after the fans but some of these fans deserved that retaliation. Like we can't pretend like the creative at Disney aren't being racially abused online and that there's a large enough army of star wars fans who are just genuine garbage people and enjoy spreading hate. With each new show they say the same shit "disney killed str wars" yet 99% of them will never cancel their disney+ subscription and religiously watch the shows. These people don't see that star wars suffers mainly because of the disney+ business model which demands a steady stream of star wars content to maintain subscriptions and reduces the quality and allotted production time. They complain about the culture war topics rather than watching the show and evaluating it with clear mind. So when people tell them "if you hate it so much, stop watching" there's a reason for it. If you want to make a corporation change, you ALWAYS go after their revenue and choose to shop elsewhere but none of these culture vultures like SWT will, be it because they've stupidly chosen to make a living covering the franchise and/or are so emotionally invested that they can't think rationally. So at the end of the day, these people need to shut up and actually take action instead of bitching online, generating waves of unjust hate and stop watching cause that's the only way the executives who run the whole operation will get the message. But they won't and instead will continue to wage a culture war that does nothing but line disneys pockets and hurt the creatives who are genuinely trying to make good star wars in spite of the guaranteed army of trolls just chomping at the bit to see them fail so that disney stops making star wars. Theyd rather disney stop making shows than cancel a subscription which is a wild level of brain dead to me

You argue semantics around Qimir being a sith or not. It doesn’t matter what he is. What Ki-Adi-Mundi should think at some point is: “could this attack on a Jedi be related to that incident where someone was going around killing Jedi’s?” Is your argument that he is that incompetent that he can’t make that connection?
