not really. Almost all Star Wars movies are objectively bad. Bad dialogues and acting, I mean "A New Hope" was a B Movie. They became cult through the technological prowess at the time and a fantastic worldbuilding. But stating that they would be good, even if I grew up with them, is just pure nostalgia. The only movie of the main cannon that is better is "The Empire Strikes Back", all others are just not good. The prequels were worse, and the newest trilogy was just abysmal...the original triology had more depth than the prequels in terms of philosophical approach to what the force is, but that is about it. But aside that, with Disney you got "Rogue One" and "Andor" that have that quality of "The Empie Strikes Back" which is more than what you got with George Lucas. I understand the dislike for a big company like Disney, but the relentless hate on all what they do is just a en vogue statement based on popularity or conservatism, nothing more

@@user-tc9fn9ux2u you're claiming that the positive aspects of the classic films are simply due to nostalgia and modern entries are better because the dialogue wasn't written in the 80's, and if that's true for you, and the only thing you got out of it was the world building, that's fine. It doesn't change Felicity Jones wooden acting or Rogue One's bland, disposable, tacked-on storyline or all the other overproduced, fan-fiction quality content they put out, it's all still garbage. But how can you not be trash when you're a movie/show being created by a third of the population, those Disney end-credits go on forever these days.

@@seanlincoln7923 well, as I said, I dont consider Rogue One to be bland. Of course it is easier to write a story that is tucked between two films than creating a new path forward...but I consider Rogue One to be above The Return of the Jedi or A New Hope (of course, A New Hope has a special standing since it started all this). We have to give the credit to George Lucas for that, but the dialogues, if you reflect clearly on them are really bad across those films (except The Empire Strikes Back). The world-building and philosophical part of the force is what stands out. There are also the political aspects that those films reflect (as Walter Murch said, Star Wars is based on the Vietnam War...George Lucas would have done the film as early as 1975, but his good friend Brian De Palma dissuated him from doing so, since the events of the war were too recent). Those were present in the prequels, but not as nuanced (something he would develop in The Clone Wars). Rogue One as well as Andor dive into that aspect and are in that far grittier, which is a good thing. The Mandalorian, for example, dives more into the world-building aspect and tries to resemble old cowboy series to great effect. I dont try to defend Disney here, but I have to aknowledge that not everything they do with the IP is as bad, and not everything George Lucas did is as good as normally it is presented.

Although the light whip was an EU staple before Disney bought the franchise from Lucas.

Why does everyone think the first season was that great? It got bogged down in world building instead of telling a coherent unified story.

@@shawclip43 They didn't say anything about the whole movie. Also yeah it's a preview it's what you use to decide whether or not a movie is worth seeing, part of that involves judging the acting for a lot of people. If it's bad in the trailer it's probably bad in the movie, too.

In what? Legends canon? In the current canon, the High Republic novels (Phase 1) introduce lightsaber whips. It’s your typical lightsaber that’s both a normal lightsaber and a lightsaber whip. Vernestra Rwoh was the first character in the books to wield such a weapon. Her former master was Stellan Gios who was a member of the Jedi High Council.

Marvel Star Wars, I believe around 1985 was the first appearance of a force whip, the characters name eludes me right now but its 6am and still on first cup of coffee...
