Dear Muttnchop Piper I want to thank you for teaching me how to smoke using the Breathe Method. I started smoking a pipe in the 1960s. I'm now 74 of years of age and recently started smoking pipe again, Your method has helped me enjoy the experience of pipe smoking so much more. And thanks too for all your very informative videos.

So good to see you my friend. You're teaching a method I have practiced for 45 years now. Making me feel old here. lol Started smoking a pipe when I was 19 still going at 73. I learned this from an old gentleman way back then and the greatest thing I ever learned. I have taught thousands over the years. Great Video

Hi sir. I’ve recently started taking up pipe smoking. This breathe method is the first I’ve used, I do find that I end up inhaling the smoke while doing it. Something I don’t want to do. I also do the conventional sip method to see if I can find a difference in flavour. Any tips on fine tuning the method? Cheers

@@amielterenceI find it helpful to close my eyes at times and it seems to help me concentrate on the breathing and the taste instead of looking at how much smoke is being produced.

when smoking a cigarette what you want to do is actually, draw the smoke into your mouth like you're pulling water into your mouth from a straw. then after pulling the cigarette away from your mouth, you open your mouth and inhale, then exhale. you don't want to draw directly into the lungs. it is very hot and harsh that way. I switched to a pipe from cigarettes, and im so happy that i did. its helping my to no longer be addicted.I am so thankful that i found your channel chris.

Been smoking a pipe on and off for twenty years. The on and off part is because I never quite felt I had the best methods. I'd get a typical tongue bite, missed out on the finer tasting notes of the tabaco, bowl got hot, etc. Your videos have changed the whole experience into what it was always supposed to be. Thank you!

Again, I tip my hat to you good sir. I get so much more flavour from my bowl and I’m no longer worried about it going out (it does, I just don’t care any more haha). I took up pipe smoking again this year after 10 years and decided to watch this and your other breath method videos; tonight I watched this video as a quick refresher. I then settled down to a bowl of Peterson deluxe navy rolls for the first time (sampler pack) and I’m able to pick out so many more flavours from it and all without tongue bite. Thanks for sharing your experience and spreading the joy of this hobby. I am, as I’m sure many are, ever in your debt. Dave

Thank you so much for making this, I started smoking cigars and moved to pipes a year later. I was treating my pipe like a cigar, I had to do a lot of relights and a bowl would only last about 25-30 min. Thanks to the breath method a bowl now lasts me about an hour and 15 min. The meditative effect of this practice has been a real game changer and has enriched the whole experience. Thank you again.

I would add to smoking cigarettes or vaping that there are two different ways people inhale and especially with vaping effects throat hit: some “direct inhale” as you demonstrated, and others draw the smoke into their oral cavity and then inhale. As far as the breath method - I love it and my pipe is typically clenched and I’m breathing through my nose and retrohaling a lot. I love it 👍🏼💨💨💨

This was a very informative video! I have just about got the breath method down and this would be the logical next step. It was a little hard for me to grasp the beginning breath method at first because I was a cigarette smoker for many years and it was a sharp learning curve to begin with for me. In my opinion (and I may be wrong) but, it seems to me that pipe tobacco is a much higher quality of tobacco than what is in cigarettes. Also, last week I bought some of my favorite aromatic tobacco (4 oz. along with 8 oz. of Lane 1Q) and a one oz. of a locally blended English tobacco called Dockside Blend. The Dockside Blend had a strong smoky aroma to it and I assume that it was probably 40-50% Latakia. I quite enjoyed the Dockside Blend but, the aromatic tobacco that I brought left me with some awful tongue bite even though i smoked it with the same cadence as I had the Dockside Blend. I think I enjoyed it more than Dunhill Early Morning Pipe and Nightcap. It wasn’t that the aromatic tobacco didn’t taste good, quite the opposite in fact. But I have to say that I enjoyed this Dockside Blend much, much more. So, I have a couple of questions for you. 1) Is it normal for someone coming back to smoking a pipe after 5 years to enjoy an English more than the aromatic tobacco I was so much in love with? 2) Could you ( or anyone else here) maybe point me in the direction of some English blends or Virginia’s, VaPers or other blends that I may enjoy? Thank you in advance for taking time to read and respond

It comes down to quelling that oral fixation (or whatever the appropriate term is). I just started with pipes a few days ago. 1) because I like the smell and 2) because I want to reduce my smokeless tobacco use.
