It makes me sad to see the stark difference of reception between Olivia and this new host Michael. I'm glad that you guys love our new host, but your comments of "at least he's better than her" is not a compliment. If anybody from SciShow saw that comment, they'd be mortified, not proud. Unlike the majority of you who bash on Olivia, they're not assholes and care about her feelings and well being because they are decent people.
@Silverizael
@Silverizael 7 жыл бұрын
They did the same thing to the female host on Scishow Space when she first started, but not the guys. Go look at the comments on the Star Within A Star video. There's a whole bunch of people calling her ugly, saying she moves her hands too much, and that they don't like her voice. Yet, they never seem to do that for new male hosts. Luckily, the assholes seem to go away after the host has been around for a year or so.

@cortster12
@cortster12 7 жыл бұрын
But his voice and mannerisms aren't annoying. I'm not trying to bash her, just stating my completely subjective opinion. People are different and some people make better speakers than others. I'm sorry that every human isn't exactly the same, but that's how the world works. And don't even say that it doesn't matter how someone sounds and acts. If that were the case, ever single radio host, actor, entertainer, ect would be equally as popular.

When you say "120,000 games of poker," do you mean 120,000 hands?
@henrykrider179
@henrykrider179 7 жыл бұрын
I would guess so. As far as I know, there isn't really a standard way of defining a game other than that. Plus, that's a looooot of hands already, and many times more would reach ridiculous levels.

Yes, it's irritating but many American teenage girls, especially, have that affectation when making assertive comments. Nevertheless, it comes off as a passive aggressive plea for approval. Adults crank it up a notch, right? Olivia's delivery needs to end a paragraph or a sentence as a statement instead of a question & let the chips fall where they may.

The 11th player was an expert as well, they all were. It means that the degree to which the AI beat the 11th player wasn't large enough to definitively say the AI was better. i.e., it was too close to call.

Slightly misleading not to clarify it is heads-up hold em at the start of the video. Also, they didn't play 120k games, they were playing 120k hands. Also, this is not a 'tournament' structure, as the blind level didn't change.

The big problem remaining with this kind of thing is that it takes an awful lot of iterations for the machine to get good initially, whereas a human being requires far fewer. Of course, the machine can do this all much, much faster, but it does show how far we are from creating a true artificial general intelligence.
