Official HD Video for "I Wouldn't Want to be Like You" by The Alan Parsons Project
`I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You' was the first single from `I Robot' - a 1977 studio album by The Alan Parsons Project. The video depicts Alan uncovering an ancient mask to reveal a robot figure (played by Eric Woolfson) that comes alive. It is then involved in a game of cat and mouse with Alan until...well you need to watch the video to see what finally happens. The uptempo song features Lenny Zakatek on vocals, Eric Woolfson on Rhodes and Wurlitzer and the regular trio of Ian Bairnson, David Paton and Stuart Tosh on guitars, bass and drums.

@@supercrazy03 - Yes, the solo on Games People Play is definitely a good one. The last half is a pretty good walk around the fretboard. The first half definitely seems to have some influence from the boys in (the band) Boston. Definitely a very Tom Scholz double harmony lead vibe.

I picked up "I Robot" in a record store just because the cover was striking to me (and I have a sort of sympathetic thing for robots). Some of us would have. :) Very rare that I pick up a record out of the blue like that, but it was compelling. And I was not disappointed.

The Alan Parsons Project got plenty of credit and accolades. They were a studio group only and were considered a little avantgarde at the time (mid 70s to mid 80s) thus never really broke seriously into Top 40 radio....why much of "the masses" haven't heard much of them. However their musical impact was profound. Alan Parsons himself was producer/engineer on Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon". That right there is all the credibility you need in the big scheme of things.

...Ricky, it wasn't just the parties, every day in the 70's was much better than it is now! Even the bad days when we had to sit in line for gas because our stupid President (carter) had 'made up' the gasoline shortage and given away our hard earned Panama Canal...We were more mellow, the music was great, things still made sense, liars and crooks were still dealt justice (except President Nixon!), radio was still mostly AM and genres were non-existent (we heard country, rock, reggae, soul, r & b, jazz, blues, pop, folk, etc. all on the same radio stations {until FM came out}), there was NO crack or crackheads, the girls hadn't started doing plumber's butt low-waist jeans or tattoos over their whole bodies yet, 104 octane gas for my motocross bike (which I used to ride short stretches of public street to reach my various riding areas on) was 27 cents/gallon, everybody had a van [best vehicles EVER], good weed could be sampled and purchased from and shared with friends with no guns drawn, we still pledged allegiance to the flag in school, stood with hats removed, right hand over our hearts, and sang along with our National Anthem....it WAS a time that those of us fortunate enough to have lived thru would gladly give up a kidney to go back and live again! Going back now and knowing what we know now, that'd be something worth a kidney and maybe one eye too !!! : )'

@B'Dawg That ancient mainframe was the first thing I noticed, with it's bank of tape drives and disk platters. I worked on a similar machine as an operator in the early 80s. It was a (very unreliable, constantly crashing) Honeywell 6600. I was a "tape ape", mounting and dismounting those huge reels as the batch programs requested, and running the printers. We also had a better IBM in the room, it ran at the blinding speed of 16MHZ. Really takes me back...great song too!
