The tablet, the handheld, the windows machine, the LEGEND. This thing packs that Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU which we know as the cousin of the Ryzen 7 7840U. This handheld doesn't disappoint, unless you want something compact or hate versatility. What's more, FPS mode or "RTS mode" as some call it, really kicks it up a notch and means you have ANOTHER way to interact with the device. Steam Deck have you met your match? Official Rog Ally Dock only have USB 2.0 too. What were they thinking? It should have had USB-C 4.0 like Lenovo so you can get over 1000.MB/s from SSD in USB.

@@gamers-generation Hehe. I bought a 240W USB-C 4.0 Angled Adapter for Go and placed it on bottom slot. Then strapped on a Samsung T7 2.TB SSD on to the kickstand and connect it on bottom USB. Connecting PSU on top USB-C when needed. Great setup for me without any dock. :) The Angled adapter makes it possible to have the USB cable flat and sideways.

I had the Go for over a month now and it's perfect for me. Lenovo Go had a major BIOS upgrade this week and also fixed the USB-C bug, and added a bunch of new features. "Xbox/Steam" button hotkey will be added in next Lenovo Space update. I also think next update within a week gives the option to swap Lenovo buttons with Start/Select. Lenovo have a long roadmap for new features and fixes for the Go. They are updating it weekly.

liked the video. my opinion is i preferer the Ally because ease of updates of derivers , VRR and i will never use RTS mode n the Go . so what do you think ??

Super honest comment, much appreciated. It's not for everyone as I mentioned in the video. But it does pretty much everything *I* want. So you'll have to decide what's more important for you, VRR? Display size? Battery size? Portability? Performance wise they should realistically be nearly identical, the only difference being the RAM speed which should affect at most a few percentage points.

With FPS mode, the analog cap gets in the way, I heard it was removable. Have you tried removing it?

You absolutely can, my mistake not showing it can be removed (and even stored in the included carrying case). I don't remove mine because I don't think it gets in my way, but some people with different sized hands might feel differently. Thanks for your comment!

Really nice review! gaming at low wattages do seem to be steam deck's specialty but how does this affect the battery life when these two devices are compared against at each other (preferably the oled, while having the same performance at a "x" game) ?

Unfortunately I do not have an OLED model, but I'm fairly confident in saying below 15w, the Deck likely lasts longer and surely delivers better performance. That said, for newer AAA and more demanding titles because the Deck tops or at 15w, the performance ceiling is a good amount higher on the Go (Ally too, before someone says I'm biased). So you'd have to give me some titles before I could answer a little less broadly. Thanks for the question and comment!

Great video as always. Man if they just get the software right, the Legion Go is an easy favorite. Especially since you can pull the controllers off and now it’s a tiny footprint in the bag. Now if only someone created a 3d print for that.

bought Legion Go 2 weeks ago, while i do love the screen, it really is more of a desk stand type of situation for me, so basically like my laptop, its heavy and i cant game on it for more than 30mins, either you put it on your lap or tummy area or having pillow underneath. It has better battery than my Rog Ally but like 30mins more in heavy games, thats good tho, but for me not enough, SD card function really is basic for these handheld and for my ally to not have that basic need is just a bummer too, i like the FPS mode of LLG but thats it after your honeymoon period on the device you just wont use it as often, so it goes back to being a handheld, ergo wise and button wise, ROG Ally is just better, placement on buttons are not as accessible as rog ally and steamdeck, DPAD while i dont like my Allys DPAD at first its better than LLG, also the Analog has that annoying deadzone man and again, its a heavy handheld,. And the final nail for me is the screen while it has good big screen compared to my Ally, not having VRR for me is just a deal breaker, hard to go back, its just not as smooth, it really helps alot especially between 50-60fps jumping on or stuttering on FPS its just so smooth on ally compared to LLG, Yes, it has 144hz but you wont even reach those when playing heavy games, most of the time its 60 to 100fps and thats where VRR of ally shines for me, especially on old emulation too. i returned it yesterday, and go back to my Ally and my Laptop. atleast some of my problems can be fixed on software side in the future, but the heaviness of the hardware for me wont. performance for both are same tho :)

Thanks for your detailed comment. the good and maybe bad about these is there really isn't something for everyone, we all have different priorities and so your deal breakers might be different from mine, but we can both agree that choice is awesome and with more companies getting in, it's a good time to jump on the handheld wagon.

Actually, i came from winmax 2, 6800u edition, and i sold it to buy a proper laptop because that thing isnt handheld thats just simply a netbook having a proper game controls, hehe its great tho, BUT, its heavy too, its a tummy type of device, and like LLG its more of table type too, but, screen becomes smaller if you do that. when i bought LLG i thought it be more better than winmax 2, it is better, but will succumb to the things i didnt like on my winmax 2, so youre right really depends on your use case.@@gamers-generation

Can I replace a laptop for Legion GO? Is Google Chrome work smoothly as PC app or is it like Mobile app? How is Excel, word and PowerPoint work in Legion GO? Is windows working great or have some issues?

Absolutely without question. This thing is a PC in small form factor. No it won't be more powerful than a full desktop, but it is NOT a phone. You can use any of those productivity apps without issue, just add a bluetooth keyboard so you're not typing using the onscreen keyboard. As for a mouse, it'd be up to you if you want to use "FPS mode" for that, or just use a traditional bluetooth mouse.

You know what, you're right. Paid sinks are better. For real though, performance should be nearly identical. The VRR on the Ally won't improve performance, but it will make your experience smoother, so really it's up to you what you more, bigger picture or smoother picture?

Legion go screen is great, and the extra usb c is as well, but the ally is still a way better package right now. Ive have nothing but problems with the Go so far. Screen problems (native portrait screen to blame), performance hiccups, worse software, loud fans. The ally seems extremely polished in comparison even though it also has its own issues

I love my Ally so much ! i bought the dongle and can put monitor and keyboard and mouse and ethernet cable and micro sd card! and play it normally ! if i dont i remove the dongle and jump to bed to play a hour til i get sleepy! or go to friend place to play!

What do you mean you can’t remap the buttons? You can to the Xbox controls. For me it’s like having my Xbox elite controller on my handheld!

I probably explained it poorly. You can't remap the Legion Space buttons to other buttons. Also the back buttons M1M2Y1Y2 were limited to only pre-existing buttons and not whatever macro/input you'd like, if that makes sense. Thanks for the comment!

@@gamers-generationNo worries it’s clarified now for others. Great video. Something I use before every game I have razer cortex auto run. I know there’s probably better software with the same effect and less bloat, but it shuts down unnecessary functions of windows while a game is running and I get better performance and battery life for it.

I've not personally found issues wiith it either but I'll be honest in saying I don't play FPS or twitchy type games so maybe that's where people are finding issues. So for them hopefully yes the update will address that. Hall sticks really shouldn't have that kind of issue.

@@gamers-generation I actually didn't have any problems in FPS on Lenovo Go in current state. I completed Sniper Elite 3 already on Go. I also played Borderlands 3 on it with no problem. There is a minority that is sensitive to small things, and some are very sensitive to minimal input lag too in general.

Legion Go doesn’t do one thing for me nd that is having dolby 7.1 speakers which is so 3D in rog ally & thats the reason i bought ally over cheap speaker legion because i cant user earphones

I'm considering the Legion GO. I have had 3, yes 3 Asus Rog Allys and all have had a different problems with them. Iv had enough. The first was gross and had strange unidentified marks on it. The second has a stuck X button, and the 3rd has just stopped charging after over heating and nearly burning my house down. I can't set up another, which is a shame as it's a fun device in so many ways. I'm ready to try something new now i think.

*Insert oof.gif* But seriously I can understand this... in a "random poll" of people I've spoken with, it's been a pretty large majority that have reported issues (like 9/12). And that's not to say that there's any device without its issues, but that amount isn't acceptable for a retail product IMO. Have you looked at open box prices for the Go? Pretty aggressive!

Biggest problem of these devices is Ryzen 8000. Most of the "innovative" form factor bugs are out by this point, but I really wait for 8000 series with +50% more CU on the GPU, and 7500 new ram as default which should give at least a stable +30% over what we have now. That would make propel 40 fps gaming to 60 and that would be a very big argument to go that route.

The only thing that concerns me is the temperature of the cpu...playing batman arkham knight with max parameters and keeping the fan at maximun speed the core temperature is always 75 celsius and the chassis of the console is boiling on the left hand side ( near the volume control and mirco sd slot) What do you think about it?

This definitely sounds unusual if fans are running at maximum for Arkham knight which isn't a new game. It's possible you received one with a poor thermal paste implementation. Have you tried other games or in-game benchmarks?

Vrr overrated in 2023. People literally only started talking bout it because ally. I couldn't tell a difference on ally or my pc. And I'm a graphic freak

@@zacthegamer6145 well the point I was trying to make. I never heard vrr discussed much until ally released with it. Now all of a sudden it's a big deal. But speaking for myself, I ran test for hours with vrr on vs off trying to see what the big deal was. My eyes just can't tell any difference. I guess my setup is just too perfect that it don't need vrr. Same smoothness at any resolution or any part of the maps. It's kinda gimmicky I think

The button mapping for the back button is super limited. The biggest problem is the joystick response on mw3.

If that’s true, it should be pretty easy to debunk, given that he explained the bios configuration, provided the driver version, used the built-in presets and built-in benchmarks. Let’s see your numbers. Shouldn’t take you more than 30 minutes to run through all of the tests. I’m genuinely curious.

Hey, bucko. I guess you haven't heard of a company called Aya Neo that literally started the whole handheld gaming PC trend? They have the best design, the best quality and the best performance. What's ally's battery size? How much ram does it have and what's the ram speed? Does it by any chance run a neutered variant of 7840u? Exactly. So stay in your lane, fool. Also, asus is from Taiwan, do I need to say more?

@generalf9549 although my dude up there came out a bit too strong on saying that the Ally just handles games better I do have to agree that the Ally does have an edge over the legion Go over the hardware and how well its integrated to push the device to its limits even with less MegaTransfers. Both devices are great but I feel this guy is being a bit biases here on the unit because I get 40fps on performance mode, and turbo mode roughly between 44-50fps sometimes slightly higher on certain areas of the map on cyberpunk 2077 this is all unplugged. This has also been proven by other KZfaqrs who have compared both devices and aren't biased over either. You can literally look it up and they will show both running identical performance levels. Nothing were the legion would outperform the Ally. So person either has some settings set wrong or not sure what's going on because what he is showing here doesn't add up to what others have been displaying with real benchmarks.

@@ProNetC2 Things change. The Go has a new bios and new drivers. However, the benchmarks in this video still give a very slight edge to the Ally at 15w with certain presets and games.
